"See who it is; hang up if it’s not important. I’m driving, it’s inconvenient."
Evelyn Clayton picked up his phone, the contact noted: Harrison Grant.
"It’s your dad."
"Put it on speaker."
Just as Evelyn Clayton activated the speaker, Harrison Grant’s angry voice blared through the phone.
"Jas Grant, what are you doing?!"
"I’m driving." Jas Grant remained unfazed by Harrison Grant’s tone, his expression unchanged.
"Jas Grant, I’m not joking with you."
Harrison Grant was furious; as soon as he got ho today, Shirley Owens told him that a scandal involving Jas Grant, Evelyn Clayton, and a female celebrity had been broadcast on TV, affecting The Grant Group’s stock price.
Shirley Owens embellished the situation, first saying Jas Grant’s promiscuity was causing negative impact on the company, then saying everyone was laughing at the Grant Family.
Fuming, Harrison Grant broke a vase on the spot and called Jas Grant in a rage.
Even if Wendy Whitman were to co back from the dead today, she couldn’t stop him from reprimanding Jas Grant.
"I’m not joking either."
Seeing Jas Grant’s still unrepentant attitude.
Harrison Grant imdiately reprimanded him, "Jas Grant, it’s this indifferent attitude of yours that almost ruined the entire company! I’ve told you many tis, if you want to play around with won, I can tolerate it, but this ti you went too far. You’ve caused a drop in the company’s stock price; how will you explain to the shareholders tomorrow?!"
"I’ve already handled it. As for the stock price, the U.S. market just opened; check again in three hours, I guarantee the stock price will increase instead of decrease."
Harrison Grant was skeptical, but Jas Grant spoke with such certainty that he had to change the subject.
"Jas Grant, Dad has always told you that a man’s career is the most important. Consider this a lesson; rember not to harm the company’s interests because of a woman in the future. I’m not talking about one woman, but any woman, including Evelyn Clayton, understand?"
Evelyn Clayton had initially been a bystander, but upon hearing Harrison Grant ntion her, she imdiately perked up.
"I understand."
"Understand what!" Harrison Grant took a deep breath and said earnestly, "I know you really like Evelyn Clayton right now, but don’t let emotions drive you. What do won matter? What does Evelyn Clayton matter? Her dad just gave a heart, otherwise who knows where she’d be working now."
Evelyn Clayton subconsciously furrowed her brow.
Harrison Grant’s current attitude was completely different from how he usually was around her,
Evelyn Clayton felt a hint of doubt in her heart.
Noticing her expression, Jas Grant cleared his throat and ’kindly’ reminded, "Dad, Evelyn is right next to ."
"..."
The person on the other end clearly paused, Jas Grant glanced again at Evelyn Clayton’s expression, which hadn’t changed from before.
After a long while, Harrison Grant tentatively asked, "Jas Grant, you’re joking with , aren’t you?"
"Or else. Dad, it’s so late, Evelyn couldn’t possibly be with ."
Harrison Grant nearly cursed.
But still worried, "Jas Grant, are you really not with Evelyn?"
"No. Dad, didn’t you watch her grow up? When have you ever seen her out so late not going ho?"
"Hmm, indeed not." Harrison Grant relaxed a bit, "Anyway, listen to what I said; there are many won out there. Even if you get married in the future, I won’t stop you from playing around. Just rember, the company’s matters co first, everything else can wait."
"We’ll talk later. Dad, I’m driving, let’s stop talking."
Jas Grant hung up the call, and during the red light pause, he asked Evelyn Clayton, "Your face looks bad, are you feeling unwell?"
She was indeed feeling unwell, ntally.
"Uncle Grant doesn’t seem to like very much." She gently furrowed her brows.
