Evelyn Clayton’s expression darkened, just as she was about to speak.
Matthew Sullivan’s phone suddenly rang, he took it out to take a look, and quickly answered the call.
Evelyn Clayton saw the caller ID, the na displayed was "Jas Grant".
Whatever Jas Grant said over the phone made Matthew Sullivan’s expression turn anxious. After hanging up, he suppressed his inner anger and said to Evelyn Clayton:
"There’s sothing at the company, I have to go."
Before leaving, he unwillingly looked at Evelyn Clayton’s room door, pointed at her:
"Don’t let him get too smug, I’ll have soone keep an eye on the hotel, I’ll eventually find out who he is!"
Evelyn Clayton sighed in relief but couldn’t help feeling annoyed.
Clearly, there were ways to get him to leave long ago, and yet Jas Grant allowed her to stalemate with Matthew Sullivan at the door for half a day, just to watch the drama!
She angrily glared at the door, didn’t wait for Jas Grant to co out, and left straight away.
Just as she walked out, the door to Matthew Sullivan’s room opened.
Iris Lockwood excitedly popped her head out of the door, glanced in the direction Evelyn Clayton left, and continued reporting over the phone to Philip Lockwood:
"Dad, I’m serious, Evelyn Clayton was ssing around with another man and Marcus caught them in the act. Now their engagent is ruined! Marcus will definitely marry !"
She didn’t notice that the door next to her quietly opened a crack, revealing the faintly smiling lips of a man.
...
Just as she sat in a taxi outside the hotel, Evelyn Clayton received a WeChat ssage from Jas Grant:
[You ungrateful little thing, helped you and you didn’t even say thanks.]
Evelyn Clayton couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
No one can really say who helped whom here.
If Jas Grant didn’t mind letting Matthew Sullivan know that the wild man who spent the night with her was him, then why did he go along with her wishes and hide in the room?
It’s nothing more than mutual benefit.
She shoved her phone back in her bag, didn’t reply to the WeChat ssage, and asked the driver to take her to the studio.
Her father was a university art professor when he was alive, perhaps she inherited his genes, as she’d shown great talent in art since she was young.
After graduating from art school, she partnered with her best friend Yara Reagan to open an art studio.
They recently took on a large relief mural project at a gallery.
The mural was eight ters high, she climbed the ladder, intending to apply the plaster on the prid wall, when a sharp pain in her waist made her freeze, unable to suppress the sharp intake of breath.
She couldn’t help cursing Jas Grant in her mind for being such a dog, tossing her around all night, now she felt like she was falling apart.
With much difficulty, she endured the soreness all over her body and struggled to finish today’s work.
Yara Reagan approached her with a mischievous look, winking at the kiss marks on her neck and chest that couldn’t be covered:
"Who did you get frisky with last night? The battle seed pretty intense."
Intense? It was non-stop all night.
Thinking back, Evelyn Clayton didn’t understand how she could be so foolish, why she listened to Jas Grant and got into a tangle with Matthew Sullivan and his crew.
Is it really interesting to win in such matters?
Thinking of this made her face even more sullen, she replied snappishly: "Jas Grant."
"Jas—" Yara Reagan’s smile froze for a mont, then she exclaid in shock, raising her voice, "Matthew Sullivan’s big brother! Wow, Evelyn Clayton, that’s ruthless! Good job!"
She continued with a frown, "But even if Jas Grant is a top-notch catch, he’s just as much of a jerk as Matthew Sullivan. Why do you like finding n among the trash?"
"Jerks are great, no responsibility needed, use them and toss them." Evelyn Clayton said offhandedly.
