Evelyn Clayton thought for a mont and said, "I’ll stay here as well. Director Ford, could you please take Yara Reagan ho? She needs to go to the company for tomorrow to handle things."
Unexpectedly, before Franklin Ford could speak, Yara Reagan disagreed first.
"No way!" Yara grabbed Evelyn’s hand and secretly glared at her, "I’m staying here. If there’s anything, I can go back to the company myself!"
Evelyn found herself at a loss, caught between laughter and tears by her glare.
Franklin, sitting in the front passenger seat, turned to look at them with a softer tone, "Yara, it’s best for soone to be in charge at Gem right now. If you don’t get proper rest, it will also affect Evelyn’s duties."
Yara was montarily speechless, not saying a word.
Franklin turned and smiled, saying, "Let’s go, I’ll take you ho. Then I’ll co back to help Evelyn keep watch, does that make you feel better?"
Yara seed taken aback, lowering her eyes for a long ti before starting to drive. Her voice sounded sowhat muffled, "Well, alright then."
Franklin shot Evelyn an appeasing smile and got out of the car with Yara.
Evelyn slightly furrowed her brow, watching the two of them walk away, feeling a bit troubled.
Yara must have misunderstood sothing... And as for Franklin, it seed like he misunderstood sothing too?
Sigh, this is really a bit tricky.
However, Evelyn didn’t have much ti to think. Both she and Rhys Jacobs kept watch at the side entrance to Little Deer’s apartnt complex, and within an hour, their eyes were sore.
Luckily, Franklin soon returned, and with the three of them together, it felt a bit more comforting.
In the early hours, when it was certain that Little Deer wouldn’t be leaving again that night, Rhys stayed in the car to continue the surveillance, while Evelyn and Franklin went to a nearby 24-hour convenience store to buy so supplies.
Franklin rarely frequents such places and isn’t accustod to eating late at night, so he only bought a bottle of water.
Evelyn, on the other hand, bought coffee and instant food, and she also bought a pack of cigarettes for herself.
Returning to the car, she divided the food and drinks with Rhys, while she stayed outside, planning to smoke a cigarette before going back up.
Seeing this, Franklin also stopped and walked over to Evelyn’s side.
"Could you give one?"
With a gentle and polite deanor, Franklin asked for a cigarette like a gentleman, and Evelyn handed him one along with the lighter.
The two of them stayed silent for a mont, facing the night.
"Is Yara a college classmate of yours?"
Franklin suddenly spoke up, making Evelyn look at him in surprise.
After hesitating, Evelyn nodded, "Yes. Not only that, we went to the sa school for junior high and high school too."
Franklin lightly chuckled, "You could say you’re childhood friends?"
"You could say that," Evelyn smiled slightly, "Why, are you curious about Yara, Director Ford?"
"A little bit."
Franklin’s straightforwardness left Evelyn montarily unsure how to respond.
After a while, Evelyn laughed and shook her head.
"What?" Franklin eyed her, "Why are you laughing?"
"Nothing, I was just surprised." Evelyn didn’t hide anything, "Since you’re curious about Yara, Director Ford, why not try getting closer to her?"
With a cigarette between his long fingers, Franklin inhaled lightly at her words, exhaling smoke that dissolved into the cold air.
He smiled briefly, his smile fleeting, "Because fundantally we’re different, and the timing is wrong now."
Evelyn sensed there was more to his words, "Care to elaborate?"
"You know the status of The Ford Family now. I’m deeply entangled in the whirlpool, can’t even extricate myself, how could I drag another girl into it?"
