Jas Grant’s words were stuck in his throat, and after a long while, his eyes gradually darkened.
He stepped forward slowly, standing a step away from Evelyn Clayton, the parking lot lights casting a faint shadow on his handso, well-defined face.
Jas Grant, with a hoarse voice, asked in return, "So, that night, did you not want to leave?"
Evelyn Clayton felt as if sothing was blocking her throat, unsure how to respond for a long ti.
"Answer my question first." Evelyn Clayton stubbornly stared at him.
Jas Grant suddenly laughed.
"If I hadn’t left, I can’t guarantee what I might have done..." Jas Grant seed to be suppressing sothing, "You have no idea how scared I was that night."
A wave of indescribable sourness filled Evelyn Clayton’s throat, leaving her speechless for a while.
Jas Grant could no longer control his emotions from spilling over. He slowly raised his hand to tentatively caress Evelyn Clayton’s delicate cheek.
Warm, then burning.
He didn’t know if it was his fingertips that were cold or if it was Evelyn Clayton’s cheek that felt like fire.
After a long ti, Jas Grant withdrew his hand, his gaze becoming calm. Yet beneath that calmness, there was an undeniable intensity.
"I’m not going to marry Lynn Yates." Jas Grant suddenly spoke, seemingly out of nowhere, his dim gaze confining Evelyn Clayton in a small space, "Evelyn, stop pushing away, okay?"
Evelyn Clayton’s lips moved slightly, as if reluctant yet too confused, not knowing what to say.
Jas Grant, however, suddenly smiled, a smile that was calm and indifferent like never before, "Alright, go on, don’t keep them waiting."
After leaving the parking lot, it wasn’t until the cold wind blew that Evelyn Clayton pulled herself out of that inexplicably ambiguous mont.
With a faint sense of regret, Evelyn Clayton entered the venue.
Lynn Yates and Yara Reagan were getting massages in the room.
Upon Evelyn Clayton’s arrival, Yara Reagan quickly called out, "Evelyn, co try this; their face masks are really good."
Responding with a sound, Evelyn Clayton changed into a bathrobe and lay down on the massage chair.
Soon, a staff mber ca in to remove her light makeup and then softly asked her what treatnt she would like.
Evelyn Clayton randomly ntioned one, feeling absent-minded as her peripheral vision caught Lynn Yates.
As if sensing sothing, Lynn Yates suddenly opened her eyes, and their gazes t unexpectedly.
"Evelyn, what are you thinking about?" Lynn Yates smiled slightly, "Didn’t have a good chat with Jas Grant?"
Evelyn Clayton lightly coughed, "No, it’s not that."
"Then it went well." Lynn Yates closed her eyes again, her tone relaxed and peaceful, "Don’t feel pressured, Evelyn. With ti, you’ll naturally understand a certain truth."
Evelyn Clayton felt a bit confused, "What?"
"In our circle, n can move around as resources, just like how so n view won. Jas Grant might be engaged to today, but tomorrow he might get engaged to soone else for money and power. Naturally, you’re the one he cares about the most, but you really don’t have to keep him in your heart."
Lynn Yates’ words, although not sensational, were enough to leave people flabbergasted.
For instance, the few young service girls doing beauty treatnts all involuntarily glanced at Lynn Yates in surprise upon hearing this.
Even Yara Reagan was montarily stunned.
Lynn Yates, however, remained calm and unruffled.
"So you don’t have to feel like Jas Grant belongs to or I belong to Jas Grant... Do what you want to do; after all, n are just a part of life, making money is the real priority, right?"
