Evelyn Clayton coughed softly, "He didn’t invite ..."
After a pause, Evelyn felt her words were off and lowered her voice slightly, "It’s like he did invite ."
"What do you an?" Yara Reagan was puzzled, "Since when did you get along with him?"
"No, it’s just about discussing cooperation matters. Tristan Hawthorne will be there too." Evelyn said with so seriousness.
For so reason, when she ntioned eting Jas Grant to her friend, Evelyn just couldn’t say it.
It was as if she feared her friend’s obstruction or disagreent.
Yara suspiciously scrutinized Evelyn, and Evelyn averted her gaze slightly, sounding slightly solemn, "Let’s head back, aren’t you tired?"
"Tell the truth." Yara squinted slightly, "Who are you really going to et?"
Evelyn gave a non-committal answer, "Are you driving? If not, I can drive."
"No way, you need to confess first!" Yara said sternly.
Evelyn was cornered and finally replied with a relaxed expression, "Jas Grant will be there too."
Yara had a ’I knew it’ look on her face, "Why are you still seeing him? What’s the situation now? If soone with ulterior motives finds out, and starts gossiping about you two, what then?"
Yara wasn’t worried about Gem being implicated or anything; she was most concerned for Evelyn herself.
But these words made Evelyn wake up.
It was like an invisible slap fell on Evelyn’s face, making her feel a burning pain, leaving her speechless for a while.
Indeed, they really shouldn’t be eting.
But that night in Y Province, she hadn’t thanked him yet.
Evelyn took a deep breath, her eyes flickering for a mont, "Then, Yara, would you bear the burden and co with tonight?"
Yara’s anger lessened a bit, but she was still puzzled, "Is it absolutely necessary to et?"
"He saved , rember?" Evelyn pinched her brow, "It’ll be good to thank him early. Just as well, let’s see if we have any cooperation opportunities with Harvestide Holdings, you handle the negotiations, I won’t be involved."
Yara sighed, "Alright. It’s not good to owe a favor for too long; repaying it early is a good thing too."
As night fell, Evelyn Clayton and Yara Reagan headed to Cantonese Rich.
Cantonese Rich had a century-long history of serving Cantonese cuisine, always bustling despite the high prices. But today, upon entering, the restaurant was quiet inside and out with no extra people around.
A waiter ca to greet Evelyn and Yara, as if he already knew them, courteously leading them to the VIP room on the third floor.
As the door opened, the sound of gentle conversation overflowed.
Tristan Hawthorne and Keith Donovan had arrived early and were speaking quietly.
The two looked up upon hearing the noise, and Keith Donovan stood up with a smile, "Evelyn, Yara, long ti no see."
"Both ladies are here, great, I’ll go pick soone up!" Keith said cheerfully, "Trevor, take good care of the ladies."
Tristan didn’t ask who Keith was picking up and agreed readily.
Evelyn took a seat, nodded in acknowledgnt to Keith as he left, and couldn’t help asking, "Who is he picking up?"
It couldn’t be Jas Grant, could it?
To Evelyn’s surprise, Tristan gave a mysterious smile, "You’ll find out soon enough."
Yara, not a fan of suspense, grumbled, "What is this, is Jas Grant Cinderella? Does he need a prince and a pumpkin carriage to be picked up?"
Tristan laughed aloud, his eyes glinting as he looked at Yara, "Yara, we haven’t seen each other in a while, what have you been busy with lately?"
Because Tristan was Jas Grant’s good buddy, Yara felt generally lukewarm towards him, so she smiled politely but distantly.
"Busy making money, what else?" Yara replied flatly.
The group engaged in so light chatter, and then the room’s door opened once again.
"Sorry, I’m late."
