Having had a drink, Evelyn Clayton felt there was no need to stay longer.

Her tone was light yet sincere: "I have to head back to Gem to handle work, Director Yates, I’ll take my leave for today."

Lynn Yates, naturally, didn’t stop her and nodded with a smile, standing up to see her off.

Watching Evelyn Clayton’s silhouette enter the elevator, Lynn Yates returned to the private room, smirking as she began to enjoy the feast that hadn’t been touched.

The chief assistant sat beside her, helping her with so dishes, hesitantly saying, "Director Yates, do you really want to give Director Clayton another chance?"

Lynn Yates ate with relish, occasionally sipping so fine white wine, and then chuckled lightly: "If I was hesitant when she first ca in, when she accepted the suggestion of ’maintained cooperation’, I was completely reassured."

Evelyn Clayton is soone who can accomplish big things.

Upon hearing that her cooperation with Gem was due to Jas Grant, Evelyn Clayton didn’t react angrily or with cold disdain as I had expected.

Instead, she seized the opportunity to gain benefits from .

Lynn Yates loves to partner with ambitious people like that.

If she can make money, what do love affairs matter?

On the other side, Evelyn Clayton and Rhys Jacobs quickly returned to the car.

"Let’s go, hurry back to the company to handle business," Evelyn Clayton said hurriedly as she fastened her seatbelt.

Rhys responded and couldn’t help but glance at Evelyn Clayton while turning the steering wheel.

Evelyn Clayton was looking at her phone, seeing the latest online public opinion developnts. She didn’t raise her head, but she still sensed Rhys Jacobs’ gaze.

"Curious?" Evelyn Clayton asked suddenly, catching Rhys Jacobs off guard.

He didn’t react imdiately: "Hmm? About what?"

"I an, are you curious about why I chose to rescue this project, fully aware that Lynn Yates is cooperating with Gem for Jas Grant’s sake?"

Rhys Jacobs understood.

He was indeed curious.

In his initial conception, Evelyn Clayton would righteously claim she didn’t need to rely on soone else’s favor to enhance her own status.

After all, as Director Reagan had inadvertently disclosed earlier, Director Grant and their Director Clayton had complicated ties.

Evelyn Clayton browsed the existing online public opinions, her voice indifferent: "Don’t think of a woman too narrowly; there’s an old saying—"

She paused, as if pondering, then raised her eyes serenely to look at Rhys Jacobs.

"If there’s money to be made and you don’t make it, you’re a fool."

Rhys Jacobs was montarily stunned and then couldn’t help but smile.

Following such a boss, he might also end up making a fortune.

The atmosphere lightened considerably, and Evelyn Clayton’s mood beca calr as a result.

She swiped through her phone screen leisurely and spoke casually: "No matter why Lynn Yates wants to cooperate with us, as long as our collaboration with Yates Corp succeeds and we make money, everything is negotiable. At the very least, today we solved the most pressing issue, didn’t we?"

Rhys Jacobs nodded, his tone earnest: "In the future, it seems I must learn more from Director Clayton."

Evelyn Clayton paused and then chuckled softly.

The car soon returned to Gem.

The entire building was dark except for the bright lights on Gem’s floor. Once Evelyn Clayton and Rhys Jacobs entered the company, they saw employees either dazed or working on their designs at their workstations.

Soon, Yara Reagan’s sowhat irritable voice ca from the eting room—

"...This is confinent, it’s illegal! I’m telling you, either release the person imdiately, or I’ll call the police!"

Evelyn Clayton’s expression turned suddenly grim, and she quickly stepped forward to push open the eting room door.

"I want to see Julia Lawrence within half an hour!"
