"Huh?"

Yara Reagan was dumbstruck upon hearing that Julia Lawrence was dating, then expressed displeasure: "No way! What if she gets so caught up in her romance that she neglects her work?"

Saying this, Yara recalled Julia Lawrence taking leave a while ago: "Back then, could she have been out dating?"

"Probably not, Julia doesn’t seem like that kind of person." Evelyn Clayton said and then warned Julia Lawrence, "Don’t go gossiping casually, Julia has a thin skin."

Yara mumbled, "I’m not gossiping, I just think Julia Lawrence’s design skills are sowhat diocre. Her level is barely passable, even compared to just-graduated designers, and the brand’s first batch of clothes is about to be promoted and launched, which we need to rush to make, while also juggling the previous customizations. It’s really hectic; I’m afraid she’ll ss things up."

Evelyn Clayton glanced at her with a smile, "What can we do? Gem hasn’t even issued any regulations prohibiting office romances. Even if she is dating a colleague, it’s understandable, let alone soone else."

"Forget it, as long as she doesn’t delay her work." Yara Reagan sighed.

Evelyn Clayton started handling the paperwork that had piled up while she was away. She froze when she opened one of the docunts, "What’s this?"

Rhys Jacobs happened to co in at that mont.

"Oh, Director Clayton, I forgot to ntion, this pertains to the customization of that previous batch of clothes. A custor resold it, and the new owner has new requests."

Evelyn Clayton realized, inspected it closely, and casually asked, "Who’s the new custor?"

Rhys paused, "The party hasn’t appeared in person; their assistant has been contacting us via email all along."

Evelyn Clayton wasn’t particularly concerned and signed the docunt, "Keep a close watch on the customization, make sure nothing goes wrong."

"Alright. Also, Director Ford ntioned she may co by this afternoon to see if you have ti."

Evelyn Clayton thought for a mont, "I’m going to the factory with Yara Reagan this afternoon. Ask her if she wants to join us."

Rhys responded and left.

After lunch and a brief rest, Evelyn Clayton and Yara Reagan prepared to head to the factory.

At that mont, Violet Ford arrived.

"Evelyn, back already?" Violet Ford greeted with a smile as she entered, "I was planning to invite you out for dinner tonight, but you ntioned going to the factory. I was thinking of joining you for a look."

Evelyn Clayton saw no issue, gladly responding, "Perfect timing, you can see the drafts and offer any feedback on the spot."

The three of them headed to the factory together, and while on the way, Violet Ford inevitably asked about John Jacobs.

Evelyn Clayton honestly recounted to her, naturally omitting the details of the accident, "It shouldn’t take more than half a month to get the results."

"That’s good. You didn’t encounter any accidents while there, did you?" Violet Ford asked with concern, looking at her.

Evelyn Clayton instinctively glanced at her and noticed a probing look, which made her uneasy.

Was Violet’s expression indicative of knowing sothing?

While pondering, Evelyn Clayton suddenly received a phone call, and Violet fell silent, refraining from further questions.

Evelyn Clayton sighed in relief and went to answer the call.

The call was from the police in Y Province.

After listening for a couple of minutes, Evelyn Clayton’s expression changed dramatically.

Clutching the phone, she could barely believe what she was hearing: "What?!"

Violet Ford and Yara Reagan both turned their gazes toward her.

Evelyn Clayton’s complexion grew paler by the mont, and when she finally hung up, she was nearly in a state of shock.

"What’s wrong?" Yara Reagan asked worriedly, looking at Evelyn Clayton.

In a daze, Evelyn Clayton held her phone for a long ti before speaking in a hoarse voice, "A call from the police in Y Province... They said... John Jacobs has committed suicide in prison—"

Yara Reagan widened her eyes in shock.

Violet Ford’s expression also turned solemn, with a calmness that was a bit terrifying: "Is he dead?"

Evelyn Clayton closed her eyes slightly and nodded, "He was just taken to the hospital, just declared..., resuscitation failed."
