Evelyn Clayton woke up sore and aching from sleeping at the hotel for a night, as she wasn’t used to the bed.
The police station called quickly, asking Evelyn to co over and provide so clues about John Jacobs.
Arriving at the station, Evelyn handed over all the clues she knew, and the police in Y Province promised to apprehend him as soon as possible.
After a busy half-day, Evelyn dragged her fatigued body back to the hotel, and it started raining on the way.
The journey had been rainy from the start, and the sky in Y Province was gray and murky. Evelyn’s mood was indescribably heavy, as if sothing might happen.
The taxi drove onto the overpass, and the speed gradually slowed down. Evelyn looked out suspiciously.
The driver seed to notice Evelyn’s puzzled expression and casually explained, "This road is always clogged, and they’re fixing the bridge lately, so it might be jamd for a while longer."
Evelyn checked her watch, feeling anxious, "How long is the jam likely to be?"
"Hard to say, sotis it lasts for one or two hours," the driver sighed, "Don’t worry, miss, I won’t charge you extra."
Evelyn wasn’t concerned about that; she had a video eting later.
Ti passed bit by bit, and the sky darkened further, with Evelyn stuck on the overpass for over an hour.
By the ti she reached the hotel entrance, there were only a few minutes left before the eting started.
Evelyn pinched her brow and had no choice but to ssage Yara Reagan about being late.
Stepping out of the car, Evelyn was approached by the hotel doorman with an umbrella since she hadn’t brought one, and she casually thanked him. Her gaze inadvertently caught a familiar figure.
Evelyn suddenly halted and glanced to the side.
Only to see the short, stout figure of a man’s back—Evelyn recognized it almost imdiately—
It was John Jacobs!!
Evelyn frowned deeply, fearing she might be mistaken, hastily took the umbrella from the doorman, and chased after the figure.
The figure stopped by the roadside, making furtive movents, glancing around while lowering the brim of his baseball cap before quickly hailing a taxi and leaving.
Evelyn stood still, frozen.
Furrowing her brow in thought, Evelyn dispelled the idea of following in a cab.
She lacked the strength to contend with a man like John Jacobs, and if she angered him and sothing happened, the attempt would be more harm than good.
Heading into the hotel, Evelyn went to the front desk and softly asked, "Excuse , has a man nad John Jacobs checked in over the past couple of days?"
The hotel clerk checked the system, then shook his head and frowned, "No, is there sothing the matter, miss?"
It seed the person had forged his identity...
"No, just asking." Evelyn forced a smile and returned to her room.
Upon entering, Evelyn wanted to call the police to report but was promptly interrupted by Yara’s call.
Upon connection, Yara wondered, "Is the eting still happening?"
"I just arrived at the hotel; inform them we’ll move the eting to tomorrow." Evelyn considered and began packing her things, stating succinctly, "I’m changing hotels tonight—I just saw John Jacobs at the entrance of the hotel where I’m staying."
Yara gasped, "Really? Did you tell the police yet?"
Her words were scattered, clearly startled, "Yes, yes, change locations quickly. If John Jacobs notices you’re here, who knows what desperate actions he might take!"
Evelyn pondered, "I’m worried about provoking him. I’ll notify the police now, so I’ll stop talking to you for now."
Ending the call, Evelyn packed her luggage while notifying the police in Y Province.
With everything packed, Evelyn booked a new hotel.
After getting everything ready, Evelyn walked out, towing her suitcase.
