"Hey, have you heard? Recently, that Atlas Group from the Grant Group has been exposed for tax evasion, and their chairman hasn’t shown up in days."
Inside Gem, after Rhys Jacobs left, Evelyn Clayton personally went to the front desk to pick up so docunts. Just as she reached the corner, she overheard two young girls at the front desk whispering.
Evelyn Clayton slightly paused, her brows lightly furrowing.
"Huh? Didn’t soone say that was false information? Such a big corporation, is it really necessary?"
"It’s obvious that the clarification of false information was a PR move. Besides, you ntioned it too—such a large corporation. The boss might be cautious to avoid trouble, but that doesn’t stop soone below from stirring things up..."
"Could it be because the eldest young master of the Grant Family left, so sothing suddenly happened?"
"...Shh, say no more. Have you forgotten about Director Clayton’s relationship with the eldest young master of the Grant Family?"
Evelyn Clayton did not listen further and went straight to the front desk.
The two young girls were startled, and upon seeing Evelyn Clayton approach, their faces turned pale.
Evelyn Clayton took the docunts very calmly, pretending not to have heard anything, and returned to her office.
Closing the door, Evelyn Clayton tore open the docunts and absentmindedly flipped through them.
What she had was a factory acquisition plan sent by Violet Ford. Violet had specifically instructed her assistant to prepare it for Evelyn Clayton as a reference.
But at that mont, Evelyn Clayton skimd through the docunt, barely absorbing any information.
After flipping a few pages, Evelyn Clayton closed the docunt with a hint of frustration and closed her eyes.
She sent a ssage to Yara Reagan, and it wasn’t long before Yara arrived.
"The acquisition plan from Violet Ford has arrived?" Yara casually picked up the docunt from her desk and opened it.
Evelyn Clayton took a sip of water and said, "Yeah, I’m a bit tired right now. You have a look first."
Yara, holding a pen, marked and circled on the plan, "I think these are pretty good. You can go take a look, or you can send Rhys Jacobs to inspect them."
After putting the plan back, Yara suddenly rembered sothing and looked a little excited: "Oh, did you hear? Sothing happened to the Atlas Group!"
Evelyn Clayton almost choked on a sip of water, coughing for a long ti, her face turning a bit red.
"What’s wrong?" Yara quickly went over to pat her back, "What’s up, are you excited about Harrison Grant’s misfortune?"
Evelyn Clayton rolled her eyes slightly, "I didn’t say that."
Yara laughed: "So you’re quite happy about it, huh? Didn’t realize you’re so crafty, Evelyn."
Evelyn Clayton couldn’t be bothered with her, so Yara amused herself, speaking with interest: "Hey, who do you think is behind the plot against Atlas Group? By right, with Harrison Grant’s tactics, it shouldn’t be easy for anyone to find out."
"I don’t know, I don’t care." Evelyn Clayton took a breath, the rosy flush still on her pale cheek, but her expression had already cooled down, "Not to ntion Harrison Grant has many enemies. A company as big as Atlas Group is bound to attract jealousy over the years. What we see might just be the tip of the iceberg."
Yara nodded in agreent, "You’re right, but I also heard soone guess that it’s the eldest young master Grant flooding the Dragon King’s Temple, family against family, just to overthrow his dad and pave the way for himself."
Evelyn Clayton spoke without hesitation, "He wouldn’t do that."
Yara raised her eyebrow, her expression becoming nuanced: "What, you know him that well?"
Evelyn Clayton felt a little embarrassed under Yara’s intrigued gaze.
She cleared her throat, putting on a serious face.
"Don’t look at like that, I actually don’t know Jas Grant well. But there’s one thing I am sure of."
Yara pursed her lips, smiling slyly, "What is it?"
Evelyn Clayton said calmly, "Unless pushed to the brink, he would never turn against his own family."
Hearing this, Yara fell into thought.
"But what if he’s already been pushed to the brink by Harrison Grant?"
