The middle-aged lady was shocked for a mont before rushing over to help Evelyn Clayton. Harrison Grant couldn’t believe a middle-aged woman had such strength, and before he could react to how she got in, he was knocked to the ground.

The needle pierced his thigh, and Harrison Grant’s face twisted in pain.

"Evelyn Clayton!"

Evelyn, still shaken, was patted on the back by the lady, who spat at Harrison in response.

"What are you yelling for? You look kind and gentle, but your heart’s pitch black! If you want blood, go buy it in a hospital. What kind of cheap trick is this?"

Afraid Harrison might make another move, the neighbor lady grabbed the box on the table and fiercely smashed it at him several tis.

In so much pain, Harrison couldn’t speak and didn’t dare look back as he ran out.

Evelyn climbed up from the floor, grimacing as she rubbed her scalp.

The neighbor lady looked at her with a heart full of sympathy, and without asking much, she gave her a towel wrapped with ice to apply on her bruises.

"Girl, if this doesn’t work, we should call the police. Today he forces you to draw blood; who knows what bad deeds he’ll do tomorrow? Scum like this should be locked up to learn so moral education!"

The lady had previously been the director of the Won’s Protection Association and couldn’t stand seeing soone lay hands on young won.

Especially since Harrison bullied soone right in front of her, counseling the oppressed, and always in three breaths ntioning "call the police."

Evelyn lowered her eyes, silent for a mont, then shook her head.

"No."

In her current state, she looked just like the heroines from family dramas the neighbor lady had dealt with before.

The lady was anxious seeing this, her mouth opened and closed for a while, wanting to persuade more.

Seeing emotion in Evelyn’s eyes, her lips curved upwards: "I have a better way."

The lady realized a bit of what Evelyn intended.

She looked at the young girl with a complex expression and sighed in compromise.

The house was a ss due to the fight. Evelyn worked hard to clean up and before dark, brought so gifts to the neighbor lady.

"Evelyn, what is this!" The neighbor lady frowned, looking at her disapprovingly: "I helped you not for a reward. Do you look down on for doing this?"

"No, that’s not what I an. I just wanted to thank you for your help... It’s not about looking down on you at all." Evelyn frantically waved her hands.

The neighbor lady was just pretending, not expecting the young girl to be so easily teased, making her burst into laughter.

"I was just kidding," she said, turning serious again: "I’ll take the gift, but if he cos again, just call . You shouldn’t face this alone, you hear?"

The lady’s hand gently stroked her hair, over and over, exceedingly tender.

She accepted the gift not for herself but to prevent Evelyn from feeling embarrassed to ask for help again.

The two boxes of gifts beca the initial bond connecting them.

Evelyn’s eyes turned misty.

Since her parents passed, she hadn’t felt such pure care from an elder for so long, she couldn’t quite rember.

She looked up, blinking her eyes, her voice hoarse: "I rember now."

Harrison had arrived looking all dignified, but he left in a hurry, his suit worn inside out.

There were several scratches on his face from Evelyn’s nails, barely noticeable under the wrinkles unless one looked closely, but his body appeared much more disheveled.

The neighbor lady had been ruthless, leaving his clothes missing buttons and adding two big, dark footprints on his pants.

Unable to brush them off, he angrily slamd the car door, shouting into the phone to Sumr Monroe: "This month’s blood pack is off, figure out another way yourself."
