Evelyn Clayton swallowed hard; it seed he was indeed angry.
"We agree."
She turned back and spoke to Sumr Monroe.
As soon as she spoke, the chill behind them intensified.
Sumr quickly seized her words, conveniently using the excuse to propose preparing the contract.
"Really? Then thank you, Miss Clayton, for being the matchmaker in this. I won’t disturb you anymore; I’ll go prepare the contract now."
With that, Sumr got up and left swiftly before Jas Grant could say anything.
In the café, only Jas Grant and Evelyn Clayton remained, and the chilling vibe grew stronger.
"Ha, taking matters into your own hands? Evelyn Clayton, who gave you such courage?"
Jas Grant’s eyes were cold, full of anger and ironic amusent.
She swallowed again, a bit fearful of his anger, and softened her tone.
"No, like I ntioned to you before, there’s sothing suspicious about the fragrance on Sumr, and the matter with Harrison Grant using my blood... I thought, through this cooperation, I could get closer and investigate it thoroughly."
He stood up, approached her, and roughly loosened his tie in irritation.
His eyes glistened with coldness and mockery: "Lying? Evelyn Clayton, when did you dare to deceive ?"
"I didn’t lie to you."
She frowned.
Lie about what, she agreed for the sake of the investigation.
Up close, Evelyn saw Jas Grant’s Adam’s apple move up and down, and the corners of his lips slightly downturned.
"What did you do today?"
He was still fixated on her not telling him what happened today.
Evelyn felt helpless and at a loss.
She could hardly tell him that she suspected and had evidence proving that it was his biological father who caused the car accident that killed her father, could she?
Jas Grant would lose control, and she would go mad.
So, she couldn’t tell him, she could only investigate on her own.
"Jas Grant, I did nothing, I didn’t deceive you."
Evelyn stopped avoiding and boldly t his gaze.
In her calm and resolute eyes, there was no visible emotion, her tone firm with no indication of deceit.
Jas Grant, filled with doubt, scanned her once, but she remained unmoved.
"Since we’ve already agreed to cooperate, let’s go back to the Grant Family and investigate whether they have any other connections or collaborations with Sumr."
Evelyn promptly shifted the topic.
Jas Grant slightly tilted his head, cold and composed, his dark eyes narrowing dangerously.
Ultimately, he chose not to pursue it further and turned to leave.
Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief, grabbed her bag, and followed behind him.
The Grant Family.
Jas Grant took her to the archive room to look for information.
After searching around, besides so regular business collaborations, there was nothing unusual.
The more confidential files were locked in the safe.
Having found nothing, Evelyn Clayton directly went to find the person managing the files: "We need to cooperate with The Monroe Family, please find all information related to them."
"Evelyn? What are you doing here?"
Matthew Sullivan also arrived at the archive room and coincidentally saw Jas Grant and Evelyn Clayton checking files.
Feeling anxious inside, Evelyn quickly thought of a reason.
"I secured investnt from Sumr Monroe, so I wanted to find so information, but Jas Grant isn’t willing."
Jas Grant raised an eyebrow, staring at her with no hint of embarrassnt over her lie, cooperatively saying: "I said it, I’m not interested in investnt from The Monroe Family."
"You’re not interested, but you bring in the investnt yourself?"
She intentionally retorted.
Matthew Sullivan stood beside her, backing her up: "Being able to secure investnt from The Monroe Family, isn’t it a good thing? Jas Grant, can’t you even distinguish the most basic right from wrong?"
"Give The Monroe Family’s files."
Matthew Sullivan directly instructed the personnel to hand over the files to him, then personally handed them to Evelyn Clayton.
Finally, he didn’t forget to shoot a provocative look at Jas Grant.
