Evelyn Clayton’s almond eyes flickered with a hint of surprise.
For soone with no blood relation to the Grant Family, receiving ten percent of the shares was equivalent to gaining one-tenth of the family’s wealth—what a trendous value!
She forced a grateful smile onto her pale face and politely thanked him, "Thank you, Director Grant, I’ll accept it then."
Harrison Grant’s smile widened further, then he shifted his gaze to Jas Grant.
"Jas, have Marcus take Evelyn ho. Co with ; I have sothing to discuss with you."
Matthew Sullivan had been standing outside the door. Ever since witnessing Jas Grant lose control and nearly beat a man to death, he didn’t dare provoke him any further.
Hearing Harrison Grant’s words, he finally dared to enter and worriedly took Evelyn Clayton’s hand, "Evelyn, are you okay? Are you feeling unwell anywhere?"
Evelyn Clayton furrowed her brows slightly. Before she could react, Jas Grant had already slapped Matthew Sullivan’s hand away with a bloodthirsty ferocity in his eyes, intimidating Matthew, keeping him from approaching.
"Let take you ho to rest first."
Seeing Matthew Sullivan’s cowering deanor in fear of Jas Grant, Evelyn Clayton couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
Previously so arrogant and reckless, and now too timid to take a step forward.
She regained so strength and straightened up from Jas Grant’s embrace, though her face remained ashen, "Alright, take ho then."
Seeing her rare agreent, Matthew Sullivan’s excitent and happiness were evident on his face as he eagerly said, "I’ll go get the car now!"
As she got out of bed, a cold hand grasped her wrist.
Looking up, she saw the deep, unfathomable gaze of Jas Grant, filled only with chilling coldness and a clear shadow of malice.
His jaw was tense, and his thin lips were pressed tightly, saying nothing, only staring at her.
Evelyn Clayton guessed what he was thinking, lowered her eyes, released his hand, and allowed Matthew Sullivan to carefully help her out.
Her slender, frail figure gradually vanished from his deep gaze.
On the way back to the apartnt, Matthew Sullivan tried hard to find topics to chat with her, seizing every opportunity to be alone with her.
"Evelyn, co with . For soone like Jas Grant, it’s not worth it. After we get married, I’ll treat you well and never let you suffer."
Listening to Matthew Sullivan, who had been sitting silently in the passenger seat, Evelyn Clayton, leaning against the car window, silently endured his grand promises, finally couldn’t hold back a low chuckle.
Matthew Sullivan glanced at her and asked, puzzled, "What are you laughing at?"
Evelyn Clayton took a deep breath, swept her hair behind her ear, her almond eyes cool, her lips slightly parted.
"Nothing."
Calling Jas Grant a scoundrel, Matthew Sullivan truly lacked self-awareness, his skin thick enough to be so shaless.
Evelyn Clayton was thoroughly amazed.
"Pull over here."
Evelyn Clayton knocked on the window, signaling, but Matthew Sullivan asked, puzzled, "It’s not good to park here; what do you want to do?"
She cleared her throat, her voice unexpectedly softening significantly. Her phoenix eyes looked at him, naturally exuding a pitiful charm, "I want to drink milk tea."
After the soft words, even Evelyn felt sick at herself.
Matthew Sullivan, however, seed to receive an unexpected surprise. His excitent couldn’t be contained as he pretended to stand sternly, "No, you’re not well. You should eat less of these things."
Evelyn Clayton suddenly leaned closer, her large, bright eyes gazing at him like a lively deer, "Buy it?"
Those two words nearly lted Matthew Sullivan’s heart; how could he bear to refuse the proactive Evelyn Clayton?
"Buy it."
He imdiately parked in front of a milk tea shop, telling her to wait in the car.
Through the car window, Evelyn Clayton watched Matthew Sullivan’s back. The gentle expression she had earlier turned cold and disdainful.
Even though Marcus was from the Grant Family, Matthew Sullivan was rely an illegitimate child whom nobody in the family respected, yet Harrison Grant insisted on marrying her to Matthew Sullivan.
If there weren’t other motives, Evelyn Clayton couldn’t understand.
So, she had to deliberately approach Matthew Sullivan to make Harrison Grant lower his guard, intending to find out what Harrison Grant’s true intentions were.
But in the next mont, a sudden inexplicable heat stirred within her body.
