"She left."

Matthew Sullivan wore a cold expression.

Evelyn Clayton pursed her lips, "You didn’t go after her?"

"Why would I chase her? Her mistake caused such a huge loss for the Grant Family. If I continue to protect her, how would my dad see ?" Matthew said angrily, "Evelyn, the one I truly like is you. My dealings with her were just a play, you know that."

Evelyn felt a wave of disgust, set down her wine glass, and turned to leave.

Before she could take two steps, Matthew suddenly pulled at the hem of her dress from behind.

"Let go!"

Matthew’s voice was low, "Evelyn, are you really that heartless? You can’t be blind to my efforts for you these days!"

Evelyn’s voice turned cold, "I’ll say it again, let go!"

anwhile, Jas Grant was walking this way.

Seeing him, Matthew’s expression changed imdiately, and he awkwardly released his grip and turned away.

This scene was witnessed by Mrs. White, who imdiately exclaid, "Oh dear!"

"I say, Jas, the more beautiful a woman is, the more unruly she becos."

She shouted for everyone to hear, "Jas, how long has it been since you parted with her, and now she’s holding hands with Matthew? Tsk tsk tsk, I wonder how Matthew’s partner feels seeing this."

Mrs. White’s words were filled with malicious intent, trying to sow discord.

Smoothing out the hem of her dress, Evelyn looked toward Jas Grant.

Seeing Evelyn glance over, Jas Grant slightly lifted the corners of his lips.

Mrs. White felt a pang of jealousy, her heart uneasy.

"Jas, don’t take Auntie’s words seriously."

Jas Grant glanced at her and imdiately praised, "Evelyn being pestered isn’t her fault. With a beautiful face, she should dress beautifully."

After speaking, his tone turned cold, "As for any other rumors, Mrs. White, I’ll ignore it this ti, but if I hear such slander again, don’t bla for being impolite."

Mrs. White was montarily stunned, then glared angrily, her chest hurting.

But Jas Grant wasn’t like Matthew Sullivan, who had so respect for his elders.

If she angered him, Victor Whitman would be the first to deal with her.

Mrs. White left in a huff.

Jas Grant loosened his tie and stepped forward.

He hadn’t exchanged more than two words with Evelyn when suddenly a waiter approached her, "Chairman Grant would like to speak with Miss Clayton alone; he is waiting for you on the second floor of the banquet hall."

Evelyn nodded and was about to follow when Jas Grant held her back.

"Are you ready?"

"It’s fine, I will be back soon."

Evelyn reassured him by patting Jas Grant on the back of his hand, then lifted the hem of her dress and went upstairs.

Harrison Grant stood on the balcony, facing away from the crowd.

"You’re here."

Evelyn spoke calmly, "Uncle Grant, why did you call here?"

"Evelyn, you’re a good girl." Words of praise were cheap, and after saying them, Harrison Grant got to the point, "These days, you should have seen how good Marcus has been to you. The ti for our agreent is near, have you not decided yet?"

"Though he is an illegitimate child, his love for you is genuine. Now, without the company’s authority and having lost his love, how pitiable he is, right? And for you, Jas Grant might not be the best choice."

"Uncle Grant, are you so eager for to choose Matthew Sullivan just so he’ll have a legitimate place in the Grant Family?"

Evelyn spoke calmly, "Jas Grant and Matthew Sullivan, who do you value more? On one hand, you constantly give Marcus leverage to secure resources; on the other, you let Jas command the enterprise’s power. Are you trying to keep the scales balanced?"
