Chapter 163: 163. Praise

The gigantic hand grabs , lifts , and I fall.

My body is crushed, and under excruciating pain, I shut my eyes.

Opening them, the gigantic hand grabs , lifts , and I fall.

Pain, it hurts so fucking much.

Grabbing, lifting, falling.

"FUUUUUUCK!!! IT HURTS SO MUCH, AAAAHHHH!" I scream when the hand again grabs , lifts , and I fall.

"CAN’T THIS SHIT FINALLY BE OVER??!!? JUST KILL

ALREADY!!!"

Grabbing, lifting, falling, CRUNCH. Grabbing, lifting, falling, CRUNCH.

**********

"FUCK!" I hissed when I finally jolted awake. My whole body was drenched in sweat, and my face was full of tears. I wiped them away and looked at the breathing body that lay beside , flinching again when I noticed that it was the possessed child.

WHAT THE FUCK? Was that Henry making a damn joke? Who the hell puts sothing like that beside soone sleeping?

My anger spiked when the child stirred.

I watched as it opened its eyes and looked at

blankly.

I chuckled in disbelief; Henry really did it. The child’s eyes were clear, not dazed at all, and it did look, overall, okay. And not only that, Henry, like a dog wanting to show off, placed the evidence of its success directly by its owner’s side.

"How are you, bud?" I asked the kid and touched his hair.

You have survived. The child didn’t answer

when the door opened, and Henry walked inside, startled that I had been awake.

"Good morning, sunshine~" He said happily, before pointing at the kid.

I broke into laughter.

"Yes, yes. You did good, and I’ll only punch you once, as promised."

"How about you just slap

because of my sissy mole?" He pouted and pointed at his mole.

"Ahahaha, not a chance."

"Then how about the news that all the people from the hellhole have been awoken, and their shadows killed?" He crossed his arms, clearly oozing pride.

"No way!" I looked at him in absolute disbelief. Doesn’t that an only four shadows were left?

"Mhm." Henry ca to my side and kneeled down, bowing his head.

I couldn’t stay annoyed with him if he had done such good work. I stroked his head and combed through his hair.

"You did so well; thanks, good work." I praised him, as he earned it.

The child beside us giggled.

"Even the child laughs at you for behaving so childishly." I comnted, and Henry raised his head to grin at .

"We can soon go ho. Let’s get it over with the attack." He announced.

"Yeah. Can’t wait to be ho." I sighed deeply, still petting my dog’s fur, who expressed his satisfaction by leaning into my touch.

If I imagined him as a real, big, beautiful Samoyed dog or sothing, it was easy to let go of any kind of suspicion regarding him. Besides, I had promised it, so he was forgiven anyway.

"How long did I sleep?" I asked Henry.

"A few days."

I raised my eyebrows.

"They will attack soon?"

"In a few hours." Wow, that had been a real long ti. But it was perfect, we could all go by then.

"Where are we now? Near the hellhole?"

"Mhm, in an adjoining building. Let’s go back to the mansion."

"How about the kid?" I asked Henry, and he shrugged.

"The old doctor, surely, will take him."

Mhm, the legendary doctor whom I haven’t seen until now. Well, I must have seen him since I’ve seen every one of the four hundred, but there has been no ti for discussing their occupations.

I stood up and uncovered the little kid. He just raised his arms, and after exchanging a glance with Henry, I lifted him into my arms.

"Let’s bring you to the doc, buddy."

Henry furrowed his brows at us, and if I didn’t know better, I would say he wanted to be carried by . Sorry, you’re bigger than , so you won’t be carried. Not again, at least.

He led

outside, and when I looked around, I found that there was light coming in through a few windows, very different from the mansion.

Henry brought

downstairs, where the two twin girls sat with an older man.

They were still dirty but had new clothes on. Good to see the girls alive.

The older man stood up when he saw , and without reacting to my red eyes, he ca to

and thanked

again, introducing himself as the doctor. "Should I take the child?"

"Yeah. Please." I gave the kid to him and asked Henry if we should leave.

"Where are you going?" One of the twins asked while the doctor also paused to interact with the child in his arms.

"There are still shadows to defeat; we’ll all go ho after that." Henry announced, and everyone present had excited expressions on their faces.

"Let’s go." Henry went to a corridor.

After I got a pair of shoes from him, even in the right size, we walked outside.

There were many people, if not the whole four hundred, scattered in groups, while the place where we stored the food was empty.

"Are you going sowhere?" A man asked, and Henry nodded, not going into details.

"Where are you going?" Another man approached us.

"We’ll go scavenging the vicinity." I said, hoping they would leave us alone. More and more people ca to us, and I didn’t like it.

"Make space!" Henry bellowed before we started to climb the destroyed skyscraper remnants. Luckily, they didn’t follow us when it beca difficult to do so.

"You have fans now." Henry chuckled.

"You as well," I comnted and let him fill

in on everything that had happened.

"The idea of waking two possessed people at the sa ti to let them see that slitting their throats won’t kill them is really good."

"Mhm." Henry accepted the praise, so it seed he had really co up with it.

"I didn’t see Ethan." I said, and Henry turned a bit annoyed.

"He and your grandma are already in the mansion, as well as the other participants for the attack."

"How about Henrietta?" I asked him, and he paused.

"I haven’t talked to her."

"Are we sure that she can bring us ho? If she had been able, she wouldn’t have co to the trash world, would she? She would have gone directly ho."

Henry was silent for so ti as we climbed and jumped over the streets before he broke into a laugh.

"We’ll just have to see."
