Chapter 150: 150. Good

Henry’s POV

We stood in the dining room after telling the others not to co out and to hide in their rooms. This ti, there was no pressure to save anyone, as I was ready—even welcoming of the danger.

My speed and strength were already beyond that of a typical human, but to further serve my master and to keep him safe, I would love to possess a power similar to his.

We didn’t know if leveling up would bring us to a point where we could control the elents or sothing else, but a specific supernatural range had to occur when we considered the ability Kenny had.

"Soon." He said, this ti he was here just for company and to taser , not to save soone else.

The last shadow had been more proficient with the vision it had shown : my sister dying and Kenny turning out to be her murderer—it was not exactly fun, especially when the roles reversed and Kenny died in front of , with my sister becoming his murderer.

Twisted little gas that felt like they lasted forever, though Kenny woke

up as quickly as he could while still ensuring that I was possessed properly so that I would actually kill it when slicing my throat.

So whatever would co next would surely be more painful, more heart-wrenching, and more torturous than the last had been. Because these things seed to get better at what they did.

"Now."

A figure materialized in the corridor near to where the ladder was.

It stood there unmoving before taking steps toward .

However, instead of breaking into a sprint like the other shadows did, it simply walked toward

until it was right in front of , where it ca to a halt.

After a few seconds during which I felt its stare, it fell to its knees. I tilted my head in puzzlent; why was it doing this? I didn’t dare to look at Kenny for fear that even a half-second of inattention would prompt it to attack him. Since he didn’t speak, he seed to give

the authority to act as I saw fit.

So, I touched what seed to be the shadow’s head. The mont my fingers made contact, the shadow dispersed as if I were touching a cloud of smoke before the dark fog integrated into my body.

"Henry?" Kenny asked.

"Hm?" I turned to him and looked at my right hand, with which I had touched the shadow. A black, dark, smoky halo still surrounded it.

"What the fuck just happened?" He asked, coming to my side.

"I have no idea." I touched the backrest of the chair close to . When my hand ca into contact with it, the wood started to wither and turn dark until it broke, as if it were a block of charcoal.

"Hmm..." I moved my hand in front of my eyes; the smoky fog lessened as I pictured my hand as it usually looked, until it disappeared.

When I touched sothing again, it didn’t react until I conjured—just like Kenny—up the smoke. When I touched the fabric on the table, it turned to ashes; when I touched a tal spoon, it corroded until it broke.

"The power of destruction?" I turned to Kenny with a grin.

"For real now?" He chuckled, looking at my hand, and I saw him adorably wanting to touch the smoke.

"No touching. We don’t know what it does to human flesh." I reprimanded him and witnessed his amazent speedily turning into annoyance.

"I’m not that dumb." He drawled out and looked into my eyes as his face started to fall, slowly but continuously.

Oh, I know that look. The paranoia overca him again and was now gnawing at his sanity.

You know that I am on your side, but because of the past, when you see

growing stronger, you fear my betrayal. Isn’t it like this?

These thoughts, I would have to nip in the bud.

I took a step toward him before kneeling down and looking up.

"You still haven’t praised ... in a heterosexual way..."

His bright red eyes closely observed , trying to find a speck of insincerity, which he would never be able to find—because there simply was none.

When I saw that he broke into a grin, I knew I had acted appropriately, and when he touched my head, I felt as if I had really turned into a pet.

So warm, so strong; I closed my eyes in satisfaction. I leaned into his touch, hoping it would never stop. I hugged his hips and pulled him closer, burying my face into his stomach. He slled so good, just like himself; it was such a calming scent.

"Aren’t you more of a dog than a gay? Is this really pure affection that you are showing ? Pure submission?" Stroking through my hair, I nodded, pressing my face against his body.

"Wuff."

"You are a good boy, Henry. Good work." He gathered my hair before making a ss of it and combing through it, gathering it again, and I relished it.

So close, look at this progress; as if it would ever be possible inside the prison—we would have never co this far. And now, having a power of my own, my deepest fear, besides him pushing

away, would also be eliminated: When we searched for the taser, he told

that in the future he would co into a laboratory.

It had not been once that I racked my brain since then about how I could qualify myself to follow him. I could have shown them my strength and my speed, but was that really enough?

Now, with what I am able to do, if they had to examine him for his power, wouldn’t I have to be examined as well?

I can follow him now.

As a dog forever following his master.

This role was probably his biggest gift for . Being demoted from a person to an animal, isn’t it my greatest chance to reduce the distance?

Hadn’t I promised to be his dog forever?

What other feelings, what more than pure affection? Why would I ever need that when I have my master’s hands combing through my fur and his absent-minded words telling

that I am good?

I finally can say so with conviction:

I am good; I am alright.

Because Kenny said so.

He said I am good, so I’m alright.
