Chapter 148: 148. Advantage

Henry’s POV

I sat at Kenny’s door and waited for him to wake up.

This corridor, filled with endless doors and everything upside down, was a surreal picture. Especially the anchor for the chandelier that was deeply embedded in what we now use as a floor. The broken chandelier itself had long been discarded by the others. It was good that they did the minimum to justify being fed and given water for free.

A door opened, and Athena stepped out; upon seeing , she sat beside

in silence.

"Go away." I said quietly.

"Isn’t it more believable if I hover around you?" She asked just as softly.

"No. Go away. I rember my promise; don’t worry."

"What happened yesterday? The screams..."

Annoyed, I wished for Kenny to get

a cigarette. I had long stopped smoking, but he had hooked

again.

"Does it matter?"

Athena pressed her lips together, and I leaned my head back.

When is he going to wake up, and why is he sleeping so much? I had checked on him four tis already, and he was sound asleep each ti. To avoid going overboard, now that he had finally opened up to , I decided to wait outside his door instead of inside.

"Do you have a plan on how to get

away from the police?" She finally broached the main topic.

"Yes. I want you to cut your hair and pose as a man when we leave. When the ti cos, we’ll see how it goes. If there is a chance, I will create a commotion, and you’ll have to slip away."

She sighed deeply.

"Is your hair more precious than your freedom?" I asked her with a smile.

"No, I just thought...you would co up with sothing better. I don’t want to go to prison." She buried her face in her hands.

"Don’t cry in front of ." I replied with disgust. I hoped she didn’t believe I had turned into her friend just because we were helping each other.

"I am not." Raising her face again, she looked at

with a blank expression.

"Good." I looked away once more and thought of the next shadow. How lucky I was to have a counterpart co to

first. I wouldn’t disregard Kenny’s feeling that killing our counterpart wasn’t wise, but the chance to grow stronger was indeed enticing. And if I was attacked first, there was no other option but to protect myself.

"Are you sure you aren’t gay?" She suddenly asked .

"I am sure." I closed my eyes and leaned back again, contemplating a way to rid myself of her presence, though it would be beneficial if Kenny found us together; she was right about that.

"I was in denial for a long ti as well... about my sexual orientation." She leaned toward

and whispered.

"Maybe you still are. You could be heterosexual and just denying that fact."

Kenny said he had seen her in a vision where they were ’casually’ together, which implied a sexual relationship.

"No. I would never do it with a man. If you had asked

to really touch your thing, I would have preferred to go to prison."

This was even better; if she had any designs on Kenny, I would be even more annoyed. Maybe this proved that his visions were simply false, or indeed about a counterpart of mine and Athena’s.

Additionally, I had discovered a very important fact about his ability. If I decided to go through with sothing in the future and pictured it in my mind while he flipped the coin on , then he would see exactly what I wanted him to see.

I had the power to influence what to show him and what not to. Luckily, Athena seed true to her promise—to continue eting

in the future, so it worked out perfectly.

The first ti he had a vision of

in a sexual situation with soone was in the forest, where I felt overwheld with joy and desperation after finally seeing him again.

The second ti, when he saw

sucking him off, was after I had asked Chelsea to leave and was furious about him being with a girl while we were in this parallel world and had more important things to do.

The third ti was when I was possessed by the shadow, and I was shown scenes of Kenny and

getting intimate.

Each ti he saw things like that, I was flooded with feelings for him, even though they were swept away by the shadow on the third ti.

It seed that these feelings had spilled over and triggered his ability, showing him scenes that forced him to distance himself from .

But that could also be used to my advantage.

And now, even standing in front of him naked, he was behaving relatively normally, not falling back into anger or disgust.

Additionally, I could touch him again, and not only that. From what I had seen while stalking him, he was now letting

touch him even more than his friends, whom he constantly pushed away. As if the intimacy between us in the future, which he had witnessed, was so extre that putting my arm around him was not even worth a push.

It couldn’t have gone better.

Another door opened, ripping

out of my thoughts. I saw Sebastian coming out and walking toward another door. He entered the room, which I rembered to be Red Hair’s.

I closed my eyes again in disinterest, noting that he seed to behave normally, not as insane and tornted as yesterday. It was a good sign if he could even continue his ssy relationships with Valeria and Jeyjey.

Good for him; just don’t get on Kenny’s nerves, and you can do what you want. Even if they had an orgy, I wouldn’t care.

Yet, the silence was interrupted by a female scream, and although I wanted Kenny to finally wake up, I didn’t want him to awaken to so nonsense drama.

Jumping up, I followed into the room Sebastian had entered and looked stunned at the scene before , which resembled an attempted rape.

Grabbing him by the hair, I pulled him away from Red Hair, who was still screaming.

"Be quiet!" I bellowed, pulling on Sebastian’s hair to see his face. He looked dazed, as if he had just woken up from sleep.

"What happened?" He asked.

"You just attacked your lover." I pointed at Red Hair, who finally fell silent.

Turning around and looking through the open door, I didn’t hear any footsteps.

Thankfully, Kenny was not awoken by them.
