Fangs and claws clashed against blades and shields, causing tallic clangs and explosions to fill the air —clouds of dust billowing around the Yon Augenn city walls.
anwhile, high above the clouds, Maverick, Shye, and their elites stood atop the broad backs of hundreds of flying monsters.
"Everyone, prepare to land on your designated points," Maverick announced sternly, raising his right hand in the air.
A brief silence hung in the air as the head commander paused, waiting for the perfect mont to strike.
Then, with a commanding sweep of his raised arm, Maverick coldly uttered, "Begin."
Jet-black blurs rained down from the sky like a teor shower, casting expanding shadows that spread across the vast area surrounding the WAA Main Headquarters.
Almost simultaneously, small yet powerful bursts of wind erupted from devices held by the elites, cushioning their descent.
Nearly seven thousand Hadean Varsa elites had already surrounded the WAA Main Headquarters before the defenders even realized what was going on.
This ti, however, Hale already had experience.
The head director announced through the mana-powered speakers that each standard and elite guard squadron was to organize first on the second level of the main headquarters before heading towards the entrances to defend against the Hadean Varsa elites.
Hale had learned that a disorganized defense was the worst possible response to Hadean Varsa's surprise attack.
Not only were their elites stronger than the WAA's elite guards, but they also excelled at overwhelming poorly ford defensive lines.
However, according to WAA Elite Guard Captain Targon, they couldn't achieve the sa results against an organized defense.
The terrorists apparently lacked experience in fighting drawn-out battles against defenders holding fortified points.
The head director's decision proved to be partially correct.
Despite a smooth start for the father and son, with their units barely encountering resistance, the Hadean Varsa squadrons attacking from the main, south, and west entrances were stopped at crucial points deep within the first level.
Although the terrorist elites' superior individual prowess challenged the elite guard squadrons defending the points, the defenders' experience and teamwork enabled them to solidly hold the invaders at bay.
Unfortunately for Hale, the east entrance was a lost cause, as Commander Black Dawn, his elites, and a few elite squadrons from the Maverick Unit broke through with utter ease.
Shields bent and swords shattered with every swing of Shye's greatswords, destroying the formations of the elite guard squadrons and sending multiple n flying and rolling at the ground.
The terrorist elites and captains exploited the gaps created by Shye, cutting down both the standard and elite WAA guard squadrons with brutal efficiency.
Within less than a minute, the defenders' lines had crumbled, forcing the guards to flee for their lives like defeated bandits.
The scene was an absolute disgrace in the eyes of Targon and the WAA agents who had just arrived to reinforce the lines.
In utter fury, Targon ordered his n to intercept the fleeing guards, threatening them that they would be charged with treason should they continue running.
The guards were naturally horrified and stopped running, reforming behind Targon and the others.
Shye narrowed his eyes at the sight of the massive number of reinforcents.
Targon appeared with a force of approximately two thousand elite guards and five thousand standard guards, accompanied by a handful of titled adventurers, champions, and two heroes: Baradur Pentagon of the Holy Sword and Saorus Calamitas of Heaven's Wrath—the very heroes Ian had previously defeated.
The WAA quickly identified the attacker at the east gate as Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn, the forr Valenzian hero.
Hence, despite his ager force of just over twelve hundred terrorist elites, they spared no expense and deployed a good portion of their forces to defend against him.
Hale didn't dare underestimate Shye and his forces.
Once again, the head director's decision proved to be correct, though he didn't expect that sending Targon, four titled adventurers, seven of his strongest champions, and two heroes, was still not enough.
After briefly assessing the opposing army's strength, Shye dashed forward once more, the tallic clang of his footsteps echoing through the vast hallways of the WAA's main headquarters.
He charged alone.
Yet, his bold act only served to inspire his n, causing their morale to soar.
'Commander Black Dawn is truly formidable,' was the thought that ran through the minds of Maverick's n.
Realizing that Shye had already launched his attack, Shirley and David quickly ordered their ager force of 130 elites to charge into combat alongside their commander, snapping the Maverick elites back to reality and prompting them to let out a unified war cry before rushing to join the fray.
anwhile, Maia and her scout squadron temporarily withdrew and circled around to flank Targon and his n from behind.
Shye wasn't as fearless as his mother nor as talented as his father in terms of commanding his n.
However, what he possessed was absolute power—unmatched by any other.
Relying on his overwhelming combat prowess, he played to his strengths and led the charge.
It wasn't anything as refined or impressive as the masterful maneuvers of his father, but it was both efficient and effective.
Like a raging bull, Shye's two greatswords cleaved through the front row of defenders with two silver half-moon slashes, sending them flying and leaving the second row staggering backward as the elite defenders in the first were thrown into their ranks.
Rivers of blood then began to flow and splatter everywhere as Shye slaughtered three rows of guards before his n even arrived to join the fray.
Naturally, Targon, along with the two heroes, the titled adventurers, and the finest champions, could no longer bear to watch their ranks being decimated.
They imdiately sprang into action the next mont.
Targon, Baradur, and Saorus took on the task of containing Shye, while the titled adventurers and champions rallied their collapsing ranks and charged forward, intercepting the squadron captains of the Black Dawn Unit and a portion of the Maverick Unit.
The next mont, however, was like a scene straight out of a nightmare for Hale, who watched the battle unfold through the holographic screens inside his office.
