Black blood splattered across the ground as Shye's massive greatswords drove deep into the Minotaur's body, causing it to vomit an alarming amount of blood.
Yet, despite being the one who mortally wounded his adversary, it was Shye who found himself in disbelief.
He thought the Minotaur would at least be teetering on the brink of death after he executed his strongest skill.
In fact, he'd even prayed that his attack wouldn't instantly kill the creature, as he still intended to ta it.
Now, he was finding out the hard way that his worries had been for nothing.
Despite being severely wounded, the Minoan Warlord still had more than enough energy to stand and even ca charging at him in fury, delivering a ferocious downward strike.
To make matters worse, the red aura around its body had grown significantly thicker.
"Human!! You cunning human!!" The Minotaur raged, jet-black flas flickering in its eyes. "So you were rely feigning weakness to catch off-guard! Unforgivable! Utterly unforgivable!!"
*BANG!*
Ceramic shards flew everywhere as the Minoan monster's wild swing missed.
However, it didn't stop there, continuing to attack Shye with such terrifying strikes one after the other as though in a state of frenzy.
'Sh*t! How did my strongest attack do so little damage to this oversized, stubborn cow?!' Shye inwardly cursed, barely managing to duck to evade a wild horizontal halberd slash. 'Appraisal!'

'F*ck! How did a single attack add nine stacks?!' He cursed once more, his heart racing. 'Ta!'
Shye tried to cast [Ta] on the severely wounded Minotaur again, but the results remained the sa.
The skill sohow didn't work.
'What on earth are the activation conditions for this crappy unreliable skill?!'
In less than five seconds, Shye cursed more than three tis, as nothing he planned worked as he imagined it.
The Minotaur's toughness had far exceeded his expectations.
'Tch, since it's already like this, ti for my [Legendary]-tier skill to make its debut in combat! Ravenous Doppelganger!'
In the next mont, an exact duplicate of Shye appeared behind the Minoan Warlord, drawing its attention for a brief instant.
"Moo? A clone?" The Minotaur said, snorting as it casually swung its halberd to destroy the clone.
To its surprise, the Doppelganger skillfully dodged the attack by jumping backward, moving just as well as the original Shye would.
It was nothing like a cheap clone, which the Minoan creature quickly recognized.
"Hoh, perhaps a mirage, then?" It continued.
Shye, anwhile, was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, pleased to discover sothing new and useful about his [Legendary]-tier skill while also taking a mont to catch his breath.
It turned out that the Doppelganger replicated the exact state of the original body at the mont it was summoned, with all active skills remaining effective until the Doppelganger was either destroyed or absorbed through [Dark rge].
This ant that the Ravenous Doppelganger possessed an unlimited duration of [Fallen's Howl]'s jet-black armor and attribute boosts, along with the decayed mana wings from [Fallen's Wings].
'I can utilize this feature to my advantage both now and in the future…'
After catching his breath and pondering for a mont, Shye realized that this was the best ti for him to attack, exchanging both Darky and Murky for his peak-adamantite-tier elental staffs, Sigrun and Dagr.
'Fire Bomb Assault! Frozen Thorn Barrage!'
In the next mont, flaming mana bombs the size of core balls materialized, accompanied by massive two-ter-long icicles that altered the temperature around Shye.
For seven seconds, such projectiles continued to materialize out of thin air, hurtling toward the Minotaur with the intent to blast it to pieces and transform it into an icy porcupine.
Shye didn't even think of taming such a dangerous monster at the mont.
After all, if he didn't approach the attack with the intent to kill, he could very well be the one to lose his life.
The big black bull with a red aura naturally noticed Shye's attack, proceeding to ignore the Doppelganger for the mont and charge at him instead, roaring.
"You're also a mage, human? No matter, I've killed hundreds of mages and warriors. You'll end up the sa!" the Minotaur said, clearly enraged by the grievous wound it suffered.

To Shye's stupefaction, the explosions did not affect the Minotaur and the ice shards shattered upon contact with the silver gleam on the creature's body.
"Die, Human!" the Minoan roared. "Heavensplitter!"
Dragging the sharp tip of its halberd across the ceramic floor, the Minotaur sent shards flying in all directions as it swung its weapon upward in a diagonal arc.
A dark, spiraling slash then shot toward Shye, accompanied by a shadowy fissure snaking along the ground, tracking him like a hungry serpent.
The Minotaur didn't bother to see if its skill would hit; it imdiately turned to strike at the approaching Doppelganger, feinting an attack on Shye while aiming for the mysterious clone as its true target.
Of course, the sneakily approaching Ravenous Doppelganger was caught off-guard.
However, it had the sa skill set as Shye, so although it fell for the feint, it was able to easily dodge using [Blink].
This ti, it was the Minotaur who was surprised, as it suddenly felt the human's presence behind it.
The Minoan monster thought that it was able to make Shye retreat using [Heavensplitter], so it hadn't expected an attack to co its way after failing to kill the Doppelganger.
"You darned hum–?!"
*FWING!*
A tri-colored laser beam pierced toward the Minotaur's heart from behind, with Shye's elental staff pressed directly against the creature's body for maximum effectiveness.
However, the next mont, Shye couldn't help but click his tongue in annoyance.
The monster still wasn't dead!
Moreover, this was the first ti he saw his [Ninth Devastation Ray] fail to pierce through to the other side of its target's body, which ant that it was sohow stopped by the darned Minoan monster's tough body.
Nonetheless, he resolved to be patient, knowing that losing his cool would only be detrintal.
