Shye knew the Phoenix could resurrect itself.

However, he didn't know how and what its rebirth would look like, which was rather dangerous, considering they only had one shot at this.

Still, they had to try and slay it. If today wasn't their day, so be it, at least they would know what to expect next ti.

Even the WAA probably doesn't expect them to complete the mission, anyway, as there had been no cases of even heroes from the Yon Augenn Region completing such a high-difficulty mission.

Of course, Shye had other ideas, or rather, he suddenly couldn't ss up due to the notification right in front of him.

[Your next mandatory quest has been posted in the mandatory quests section!]

'This damned old man expects to slay a damn Phoenix on my first try?!' Shye inwardly cursed.

He hadn't checked the mandatory quest yet, but he already had a good idea of what it would be—and sure enough, he was right.

Quest Title: Mythical Slayer

Requirents: Slay the Phoenix and obtain its Flaming Seed of Rebirth

Current Progress: Obtain Flaming Seed of Rebirth - 0/1

Remaining Ti: 23:59:45

Completion Rewards: 20 to all attributes

Upon failure: -80 to all attributes

'What the... why are the quest rewards to failure ratio getting more ridiculous? Only plus twenty to all attributes for slaying a freaking Phoenix?! A Phoenix!! But if I fail, I lose eighty points from each attribute?' he silently grumbled.

The old man had once told him that the system had its limitations and hinted that he would never want to know how the system actually obtained the points it rewarded him with. Naturally, this had piqued his curiosity, especially now that the ratios were becoming increasingly absurd.

'Maybe the old fart is running into a reward shortage?' he mused.

Nonetheless, he needed to complete the quest. The failure repercussions were just too severe.

This was probably the first ti Shye felt so nervous and unsure about completing a mandatory quest.

In the past, he had always been so confident, but this ti, he would truly be tested.

Unbeknownst to Shye, the old man was just as nervous, slightly regretting his decision to hit the [Post Quest] button on his laptop—one he had sohow converted to run on mana.

However, their chances in the final battle would skyrocket if one of his trump cards, Shye, could acquire the Flaming Seed of Rebirth.

That's why Sanada was willing to risk a minus eighty to all attributes.

He just hoped the young lad could pull through, as he always had before.

…After taking a deep breath, Shye led his party of five back to the mountain peak, where the battle between the Phoenix and the Wind Dragon was nearing its conclusion.

As they reached the peak, the group of five peered from behind a rocky formation, sipping peak-grade fire resistance potions.

It was then that their eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets at the sight before them.

The Wind Dragon was covered in scorched wounds, its body badly battered.

The Wind Dragon had clearly tried to escape several tis, only to be relentlessly cut off by the faster, more vicious Phoenix, forcing it to fight for its life.

However, its eyes reflected a sense of resignation and regret—regret for having chosen to challenge the Phoenix in the first place.

Unfortunately, there was no dicine for regret. It had to pay with its life for its terrible decision.

Wind Dragons weren't as destructive as Fire Dragons nor as tough as Earth Dragons.

However, among all dragon species, Wind Dragons possessed the most balanced attributes, making them the most frustrating and challenging for adventurers to hunt.

It was obviously not the case for the Phoenix, though.

The Wind Dragon's balanced fighting style, lacking the devastating attacks of a fire dragon or the formidable defenses of an earth dragon, made it an ideal opponent for the mythical monster.

This was because the Phoenix could relentlessly bombard it without concern for overwhelming offense or impenetrable defense from its foe.

With its exceptionally high mana and powerful blasts, the Phoenix could easily toy with the Wind Dragon until it died, particularly this young and arrogant one.

It was a classic case of newborn calves not fearing tigers.

Unfortunately, one had to pay for one's mistakes, and in this case, the fee was the Wind Dragon's life.

A few more monts passed. It seed as though the Wind Dragon was about to collapse any mont now.

However, it was then that Shye suddenly had an idea.

Wasn't this the best chance for them to attack the Phoenix? Moreover, they could…

A crafty smile erged from the corners of Shye's mouth. He wanted both creatures!

Young or not, a dragon was still a dragon, and its body was still probably tens if not hundreds of thousands of gold coins in value.

Knowing he had to act quickly, Shye shifted his attention to his comrades.

"Midnight Fang, let's start the operation."

Naturally, the veteran quickly grasped Shye's plan, but only to the extent that they should strike while the Phoenix was distracted, underestimating Shye's appetite.

Nodding at his party leader, Midnight Fang imdiately cast his [Unique]-tier cloaking skill, [Dead Man Walking Lv.5], to hide Radiant Sentinel's aura, presence, and even his intent.

Shye even tried using his mana pulse to detect Radiant Sentinel. However, to his surprise, he couldn't.

It was as though Radiant Sentinel turned into the very essence of nothingness.

Of course, he was pleased. The better the cloaking skill, the better their chances of succeeding.

Once [Dead Man Walking] activated, Shye and Radiant Sentinel stealthily moved away from their position, separating from the group to circle behind the distracted Phoenix.

Once in position, Shye lifted the massive Shielder as if it were lightweight, watching the Phoenix's movents with narrowed eyes and intense focus.

The mythical creature moved at incredible speed, becoming a fiery blur as it constantly repositioned itself to attack the Wind Dragon from multiple angles while dodging its counterattacks.

However, despite the insane difficulty of doing so, Shye could still barely follow its movents.

'A bit more to the right…yes…aaaandd…NOW!!'
