Piercing Zephyr's voice echoed across the somber skies as his noble-rank familiar, Tori, imdiately carried out his orders, descending a few kiloters away from the scorched mountain.
They couldn't land too close or the Phoenix might sense them, which would rob them of the elent of surprise.
Against such a creature, whose true capabilities remained a mystery to all, Shye and his party needed every little advantage they could get.
There was no ti limit for the mission, anyway. It was best for them to take their ti.
As they walked closer to the dead mountain that was now charred black, Shye and his party felt the gradual increase in temperature, causing them to frown.
They were still around a kiloter away from the mountain. Yet, they already have to drink a low-grade fire resistance potion.
If not for the passive skill [Interdiate Fire Resistance] from his Earth Dragon Armor Set, Shye would've had to take a potion as well.
Naturally, his comrades grew curious about how he was withstanding the heat, prompting him to explain that his armor provided a fire resistance bonus, leaving the other four inwardly envious.
Not long after, they couldn't resist examining Shye's armor up close, with Radiant Sentinel doing so quite openly.

Shye's nose lifted proudly, almost like a child, upon receiving the notification.
He took great pride in his current equipnt set, and naturally, earning the admiration of the four titled adventurers of Valenzia was no small feat—enough to brighten his mood considerably.
Utterly curious, Radiant Sentinel began asking questions, causing the ears of the other three to perk up.
They were eager to learn more about Shye's equipnt, knowing it was crafted by the up-and-coming young blacksmith, ido Chan.
Naturally, adventurers had a strong appetite for brand-new, high-quality gear, and the four titled adventurers were no exception.
They had long considered commissioning weapons and armor sets from ido.
However, from what they'd heard, the waitlist was as long as a monstrous serpent.
As much as they wanted to, the four couldn't risk tarnishing their prestige by standing in line like everyone else, could they?
Moreover, they weren't entirely sure if doing so would be worth it.
Gathering information from Shye was the best course of action for them.
Shye babbled on, first explaining his Earth Dragon Armor Set's ridiculous physical defense bonuses, then its interdiate elental bonuses, leaving the hearts of the four titled adventurers racing both in excitent and envy.
With such an armor set, one would basically have at least three lives.
Noticing that Shye was quite happy to show off his equipnt, Radiant Sentinel inquired more, only to be stopped by Frozen End, who had gone full duty mode.
They were already in the vicinity of the scorched mountain, so they had to temporarily pause their idle equipnt talk and resu it another ti.
In the next mont, Shye pulled out five units of aura suppression powder, effectively concealing their presence from the Phoenix, which resided sowhere within the vast, charred mountain.
Although no trees blocked their view, plenty of tall rock formations did, so they couldn't just march in carelessly.
They must locate the mythical monster first; otherwise, things could go terribly wrong.
What added to their anxiety was the Phoenix's size.
Contrary to Shye's expectations, the mythical monster wasn't too huge.
It asured just over 9 feet from head to the tip of its feathery, fiery tail, with a wingspan spanning slightly more than five ters.
If the Phoenix had been at least as large as a wyvern, Shye's party would have felt less uneasy, as their chances of spotting it first would have been significantly greater.
Since it wasn't the case, they had to search the mountain carefully.
Luckily, Midnight Fang was an experienced veteran, and he knew how to carefully track small, dangerous monsters.
Of course, Shye activated his [Mana Pulse] just for good asure.
Ti slowly passed as the Valenzian party of four titled adventurers and one hero made their way to the peak of the mountain
Finally, after around four hours of looking for the creature, they heard the sounds of battle.
It seed that they were overthinking things, as the Phoenix wasn't trying to hide at all.
It was right at the center of the scorched mountain's flat peak.
Was it confident in its ability to handle any foes who might attempt to slay it? Most likely.
After all, it was a mythical creature capable of summoning firestorms simply by existing in the area, and it had probably defeated all monstrous creatures that dared challenge it.
Otherwise, it wouldn't have existed for thousands of years.
To their surprise, as they walked closer to the Phoenix after Midnight Fang's detection skill found it, the three heard sounds of fighting.
Terrifying explosions erupted one after another, sending blazing rays of multicolored flas shooting in every direction, with one narrowly missing Shye and his party's position.
"It's fighting another monstrous creature?" Shye muttered as they peered out of a rocky formation, their eyes widening in shock the next mont.
The Phoenix was fighting a Wind Dragon!
Their target monster was dwarfed in size compared to the Wind Dragon. However, it was fierce—fiercer than any other monster they've encountered in the past.
It darted through the air, far quicker and more agile than the Wind Dragon, unleashing beams, explosive spheres, and relentless, inextinguishable wisps of fla that pursued its foe.
The Phoenix appeared utterly unbeatable in single combat.
The expressions of Shye and the four titled adventurers grew serious as they observed the Phoenix's combat prowess, their hearts pounding with slight anxiety—except for Shye, whose high wisdom attribute and [Unfazed Heart] trait kept him calm.
