"No way... The boss is on a mandatory mission in another region?" Seira muttered in despair, sinking onto a public bench outside the guild headquarters.
She and Luna had returned to the guild full of hope, only to be crushed by the news that their boss wasn’t even in the area.
The harsh reality made her wonder, with a heavy heart, if he had already forgotten their promise.
Luckily for her, Luna was a fairly logical individual, despite being emotional on the inside.
Hence, despite feeling bad for Seira, she didn’t exit the headquarters imdiately, deciding to ask around for news regarding Shye.
It was true that he was on a mandatory mission assigned by the WAA as part of his responsibilities as a regional champion.
However, she also discovered sothing significant: Shye Crowley had founded his own division. And it wasn’t just any division—it had quickly risen to prominence, earning a place among the ranks of four-star divisions in a remarkably short ti.
"Seira, Crowley has started his own division. Let’s go check it out and see if we can get so help there..."
Hearing Luna’s words brought a glimr of hope to Seira’s heart, like a warm bowl of soup in the biting cold of winter.
She imdiately nodded at Luna, wiping her tears as she followed her close friend towards the Flashy Ravens Rising’s division lounge.
Upon arriving, however, they were confronted with a new challenge: hundreds, if not thousands, of guild mbers, were lined up outside the entrance, filling the hallways.
They didn’t even have any idea where to begin or who to approach.
"Boss is really amazing…" Seira muttered absentmindedly as a bittersweet feeling consud her heart.
In the past, she took pride in being Shye’s only and most trusted underling. But now, her boss has hundreds of followers.
It felt like watching her favorite band suddenly beco mainstream.
"Let’s take a look around first and see if we can sohow catch the attention of one of the division mbers," Luna suggested, her eyes scanning the area.
Unfortunately, even after half an hour of searching, they had no luck finding a division mber. Heck, they didn’t even have any idea how to spot one.
It seed that their best bet was to talk to the clerk responsible for recruitnt.
Hence, the two of them joined the line, waiting for hours with empty stomachs and parched throats.
"I’m really sorry about this, Luna, I should’ve at least prepared snacks and drinks in my spatial bag... You can go eat at the guild canteen. Just wait for there..."
"No worries, Seira. I’ll stay with you."
Seira was naturally touched, though she also felt a bit embarrassed.
She had always been known as an extrovert back at the Balkrow branch. However, despite thousands of so-called "friends", this was the first ti she had experienced such genuine sincerity from a friend.
She wasn’t used to it.
Luckily, her embarrassnt didn’t have to last for long as their turn finally ca.
"Hello."
"Nas and identification docunts, please."
"I’m Luna Gonzales, and this is Seira Ramah. We’re not here to apply for the division; we’re friends of Shye Crowley from the Balkrow Branch. If we could just speak to one mber..." Luna courageously said, slightly nervous as this was her first ti trying to reach out for help.
"What? Can’t you see this line is for recruitnt? Please leave and don’t waste our ti—we have a lot of recruitnt papers to process. And honestly, I doubt you’re really friends with our esteed division leader. Don’t lie to us or you might end up on the blacklist," the clerk snapped, his irritation showing after a long day’s work.
"But we’re telling the truth! Please, can we just talk to one mber? It won’t take long, we promise."
"Ugh… Look, I do appreciate your looks, but I’m just trying to do my job. Please don’t bother . Next!"
"Please, just hear us ou–"
"NEXT!"
"Hey, move! I’m…"
Forced to step aside, the two from the Balkrow branch felt their hearts sink as they walked away, dejected.
"Seira, let’s fill our stomachs for now, let’s return later when there are fewer people."
"Okay…"
They were tired and hungry, so it would be better to recuperate their energy first before trying again.
However, just as they turned around, a familiar voice sounded, blowing away all the darkness shrouding the grape-haired shorty’s heart.
"Oh! Midget! You’ve finally made it to the big stage! Why are you so down?!"
Upon hearing her boss’ familiar voice, Seira, who was looking at the ground in dejection quickly looked up, tears welling in the corners of her eyes.
"BOSS!! You’re back! You’re finally back!!" Seira exclaid, failing to control her emotions.
In response, she quickly rushed toward Shye and threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly.
"H-Hey get o–"
"Hoh... So this is what you’ve been up to at the main branch while I’ve been away, huh, Shye Crowley?"
A voice as cold as ice echoed from behind, sending chills down Shye’s spine like never before—not even when he faced the Void Dragon.
The voice was familiar to him. However, this was the first ti he heard it in such a chilly tone.
"S-S-Shirley! Y-You’re here?! Wait, this isn’t what it looks like!" he stamred, his expression one of utter horror. "H-Hey! You midget! Get off!"
Seira was usually a bit airheaded, but this ti, her mind worked quickly.
She realized that the woman in front of her was probably her boss’s lover or sothing similar, and saw this as her chance to get back at Shye for all the tis he’d teased her in the past.
"Ehh~ Shye, when did you beco so cold?" Seira teased, throwing Shye into complete turmoil. His hair stood on end, and he felt a chill run through his body.
"Y-Y-You midge–"
"Hohoh, care to explain, Shye Crowley?"
"S-She’s lying! I swear, she’s just my underling from the Balkrow branch! A-Anyway, let’s go to my office and talk there—t-there are too many eyes and ears around."
