Naturally, two champion-level adventurers would need a huge space to fight.
Hence, despite going a little off-track, Fyun led everyone to a spacious sparring room inside the headquarters.
Upon arriving, the two champions imdiately walked toward the room's center.
Shye did so leisurely, while Freeze wore a furious expression.
He taunted Shye to feel good about himself. However, he was challenged instead.
'Unforgivable…You dare not respect ? Soone from a higher region?!'
Freeze had always been soone who was bound by "rankings".
He himself hadn't noticed; however, he was always inclined to respect those from a higher region, letting them insult him to a certain degree as he deed it "normal".
After all, they were from a higher-ranked region.
Thus, as soone from the ninth-ranked Krebori Region, Freeze had co to accept that it was normal for adventurers from other regions to look down on him.
Except for one region: Valenzia.
In his narrow-minded opinion, since he accepted humiliation from adventurers who ca from a region ranked higher than his, adventurers from the backwater Valenzia should accept humiliation from him.
This was the reason why he couldn't forgive Shye for acting as though they were equals.
Freeze had always thrown his pride and self-respect away when facing those from more advanced regions.
Hence, he couldn't understand why Shye wouldn't do the sa to him.
In addition to this frustration, he also couldn't accept the fact that soone from Valenzia, the weakest region, was generating waves across the world.
He repeatedly told himself that Shye was nothing but a fraud.
However, Shye's confident attitude caused his heart to waver, and he couldn't forgive either Shye or himself for making him feel that way, which is why he was so enraged.
"Draw your weapon, Shye Crowley. I'm eager to remind you that while you may be a big fish in your small pond, you're just a small one in the ocean."
Hearing Freeze's words, Shye rely sneered in disdain.
He has already heard such words lots of tis. Yet, he remained undefeated.
He was sure that this small-minded small fry would only end up as another stepping stone for him.
Retrieving both of his greatswords, Adamance and Mithra, as slowly as possible to piss Freeze off even more, Shye assud a lazy battle stance.
This naturally infuriated the Krebori champion to the point where he was almost ready to vomit blood in anger.
'Freeze Winfield…calm the f*ck down…this is obviously just his strategy to throw you off your ga. You'll get the sweetest of victories soon…' Freeze consoled himself, his confidence surging.
Based on his analysis of Shye's actions, it seed that the fraudster needed to resort to little tricks, like angering him, to even have a chance of winning.
'Hahaha, you've revealed your fraudulent side, Shye Crowley!'
Finally, Freeze's wait was over as, in the next mont, Fyun, acting as the referee for their duel, jerked his right arm upward, signaling the start of the match.
"Hahahahaha! You're mine, backwater rat!" The Krebori champion exclaid in utter excitent as he charged straight ahead, not respecting Shye at all.
As a scout facing a warrior, Freeze should advance cautiously, baiting out Shye's attacks before counterattacking to gradually deplete his opponent's vitality.
Once Shye's body began to lag behind his nimble movents, only then could Freeze charge in for the kill.
It appeared that the Krebori Champion was not inclined to follow such a strategy, however, believing instead that he could defeat Shye in a head-on battle by skillfully evading his strikes and delivering vicious counter-attacks.
This approach would not only demonstrate the difference between them but also humiliate Shye and undermine his morale.
Watching the idiotic approach Freeze had chosen, Shye smiled mockingly.
He then brandished both greatswords diagonally with just the right amount of speed and strength.
The scout-class champion from Krebori easily dodged his blow, however, swiftly counter-attacking with a vicious stab to Shye's right shoulder in hopes of disabling one of his arms.
"Is this it?" Freeze mocked as his dagger struck Shye's right shoulder.
Unfortunately, his celebration didn't last for long as he didn't feel the satisfying sensation of his icy dagger stabbing deep into Shye's flesh.
Soon after, before he could even find out what happened, Freeze felt a hand grip his wrists tightly.
'Crap! Clo–'
He tried to escape.
Unfortunately, there was no ti for him to use a skill as a primal roar which resembled those of dragon's assaulted his psychological defenses, leaving him trembling in fear.
Shortly after, two enormous slash marks erged in front of Freeze, devouring him whole.
*FWING*
The azure light covering his body then disintegrated into blue particles, scattering to the four winds.
"The match is over, Shye Crowley wins," Fyun announced without a change in expression, decisively handing over Shye's winnings the next mont.
'I…lost? Just like that? ? From a higher-ranking region?' Freeze Winfield inwardly despaired, kneeling and staring listlessly at the ground.
To make matters worse, the three who wanted him to win muttered disappointed and mocking remarks, just loud enough for him to hear.
"Tch, this trash from Krebori sure can talk big when he's so weak…"
"Losing to a Valenzian? Pathetic…"
"Sh*t…to go on an important and dangerous mission with such a garbage scout as a partner…"
Naturally, Freeze's fragile heart and ego couldn't withstand such insults, especially given that he couldn't accept losing to soone from a lower-ranked region.
"Shye Crowley!! What did you do?! I refuse to lose against so unknown unfair advantage! Die!!" the defeated scout exclaid as he charged towards Shye, activating his trump card in hopes of killing Shye.
'Tch, should I not have allowed it?' Fyun inwardly thought, giving Rai Hou a signal to stop the two from fighting.
However, before the Yon Augenn champion could even act, the target of the hostile attack, Shye Crowley, already moved to "defend" himself.
"Heh, how did you even beco a champion? A slow scout like you…" Shye retorted, confidently facing the incoming dagger with a smirk.
He then dodged it at the last second with the help of his skill [Enhanced Reaction Ti Lv.5], delivering a vicious slap towards Freeze's left cheek shortly after.
*PAH!*
The crisp, satisfying sound that would normally warrant a chef's kiss echoed across the room, followed by a loud boom as Freeze hurtled through the air and crashed face-first into the sparring room's walls.
"FREEZE!!!"
