"Stay where you are!"
Siegfried, despite his body aching all over, forced himself to swiftly stand up and stop Lesurii, who was about to recklessly dash in, from helping.
This was because, although he was sent flying, the two of them lucked out in terms of positioning; the Nether Griffin now stood in the middle, with one opponent in front and one behind.
It wasn't worth it to ruin their now perfect formation.
He didn't need help anyway, at least for now.
"B-But you!"
"I'm fine, focus on the monster first. Weaken it with blights and poisons."
As a smart and talented individual herself, Lesurii naturally had decisions of her own.
Even in the past, when Damien gave her an order she thought was wrong, she would disregard it and act on her own.
This resulted in her saving the party quite a few tis in the past.
However, this ti, despite disagreeing with Siegfried's instructions, the young miss of the Kusanagi clan found herself unable to disobey him.
It was as if her heart and mind, which usually got along, were now in a fierce struggle.
Ultimately, she ended up staying where she was.
It was the correct decision, though.
She wouldn't have made it in ti to help Siegfried anyway.
After all, the Nether Griffin had already started attacking again.
Barely dodging the enormous avian's talons by sidestepping, Siegfried bolted forward instead of retreating, a confident and slightly excited smile on his face.
His brave advance slightly srized Lesurii, causing her thoughts to wander in unwanted directions.
This naturally irritated Siegfried a bit.
"Kusanagi! What are you doing?! Attack it from the back!"
Hearing the handso young man's angry voice, Lesurii nearly jumped in fright, especially as it forcefully snapped her out of her stupor.
It was a wake-up call she needed, though.
Realizing that her actions were putting Siegfried, the man she had to marry in order for her to be accepted back into her clan, in grave danger, the young miss gave herself a solid slap on the face that reverberated across the forest.
'I need to stop my foolish actions! I can gaze at him all I want later, but for now, survival is the priority!'
Unknowingly, Lesurii had accepted the fact that she enjoyed admiring Siegfried's physical aesthetics.
Well, despite his lack of romantic sense, the young man's face and physique were indeed appealing to won like her.
It was hard to bla Lesurii for staring at him.
Swiftly rushing to assist, Lesurii retrieved several bottles of drinking water from her spatial bag and splashed them onto the enormous griffin's body.
She then raised her left hand to chin level, perford a few finger seals, and gently traced the fiery blades of her dagger with her glowing yellow index and middle fingers.
Shortly after, the previously fiery blade temporarily lost its fla enchantnt, which was replaced by a crackling black-thunder enchantnt.
Since he initially received no help from his comrade, Lesurii, Siegfried quickly fell into a disadvantageous position.
He was cornered in front of a towering redwood tree.
Albeit a little irked at his partner's sudden incompetence, Siegfried remained focused.
'If it cos down to it, I'll face it head-on with my ultimate skill…'
Luckily, there was no need for him to do so, as the griffin, in the midst of casting its spell [Nether Blast], suddenly screeched in pain and staggered for a few monts.
It convulsed for a few milliseconds, allowing Siegfried to spot black lightning snaking through the enormous avian's body.
"S-Siegfried, I've inflicted it with black thunderblight; it will definitely show a few openings!"
Hearing his comrade's words, Siegfried nodded inwardly and quickly repositioned to escape his dangerous situation.
The black thunderblight wasn't enough to restrain the Nether Griffin for a long ti, though.
Hence, re monts after Siegfried managed to reposition, a huge talon covered in purple aura was already heading towards him, aiming to rip him apart.
However, how could Siegfried Lionheart, one of the new generation's elites, fall so easily?
Waiting for the terrifying talons to arrive at the optimal distance, Siegfried disappeared into a spatial pocket, erging above the griffin's head the next mont.
He then stabbed at the creature's skull with all his might.
Unfortunately, the Nether Griffin was accustod to surprise attacks and managed to block his stab with its tallic beak.
Still, no amount of experience would be able to help it block the strike of a second opponent.
*GYAOOOHH!*
The Nether Griffin screeched in pain as it felt yet again another stab.
This ti, however, it could feel sharp pain coursing through its blood vessels.
The griffin wasn't a stranger to this feeling.
It was poison.
Realizing that the situation would only beco more challenging over ti, the enormous avian finally felt the threat of death from the two young humans who dared to challenge it.
It had to quickly finish things and take care of the poison in its body.
Otherwise, it would lose its life.
Turning around with a hint of anger on its face, the griffin decided to take down Lesurii, who inflicted it with two annoying status ailnts, first.
The young man, without the help of his partner, shouldn't be a threat to it.
Lesurii already expected this to happen, though.
Hence, despite being targeted by the Nether Griffin, there was no panic on her face.
She even signaled for Siegfried to use this chance and damage the avian further.
For about five minutes, the young miss of the Kusanagi Clan expertly kept the enormous flying creature's attention, darting around with lightning speed one mont and moving as silently as a shadow the next.
anwhile, Siegfried relentlessly hacked, slashed, and stabbed at their monstrous adversary, chipping away at its vitality.
Inevitably, due to the black thunderblight and the cold poison, the griffin slowly grew weaker.
This in turn allowed Lesurii to perform bolder maneuvers.
Unfortunately, in the end, she was still quite inexperienced when dealing with monsters of this level.
Hence, she got overexcited, stabbing directly at the location of the creature's heart after seeing it wobble weakly.
Lesurii failed to realize that it was a desperate trap devised by the weakened avian.
Regrettably, since she was already in mid-air, it was impossible for her to dodge the sudden [Netherbeak Strike] from the Nether Griffin.
'Oh no!!'
