"Mmmm… Where am I?" Shirley muttered, her eyes half-closed, finding the unfamiliar tent she was in puzzling.
"Shirley!"
Shortly after, though, all her questions were answered as two strong arms held her in a warm embrace from behind, reminding her of the unreal mont her lover suddenly arrived out of nowhere and saved her from what would've been the darkest mont of her life.
In truth, she had already been petrified by the ugly serpentine monstrous creature that she tried to hunt to temper herself.
However, two days ago, her consciousness miraculously returned.
Only, she found herself tied up and fed so sort of aphrodisiac pill designed to make her beg the darned old scum for s*x.
At that point, she was in utter despair, yet she held on.
Shirley didn't even expect Shye to co to help her, as it was simply impossible for him to know what was going on. Find exclusive stories on empire
She only hoped that she would be rescued regardless of who the rescuers were.
Hence, her lover's sudden fuming entrance seed like a scene straight out of a fairy tale in her eyes.
Who would've expected that her knight in shining armor would actually co to save her?
"Shye!...uuuu…I thought I would never see you again…"
This ti, the so-called ice queen's cold exterior completely crumbled, revealing the soft-hearted young woman beneath.
The two of them embraced each other for two whole minutes—both not wanting to let go, fearing that this was nothing but a dream.
Shortly after, Shye spoke:
"Shirley, I'm sorry for having you go through such difficulties. I should've given you more assurance"
"Why are you apologizing? I was the one who stubbornly took on missions I couldn't complete…"
"You wouldn't have had to have I given you more assurance that I would stay by your side no matter what happened. Also, I'm aware that your decision to temper yourself was because of my unbelievable growth rate."
Hearing Shye's words, Shirley couldn't help but remain silent; after all, it was indeed because of her lover's explosive growth that she decided to temper herself.
She didn't want to get left behind.
However, she was conflicted about whether she should ask for her lover's help as she didn't want to limit his achievents and drag him down because of her selfishness.
Only, she hadn't anticipated that dragging Shye down was futile; he would continue to grow stronger at a much faster rate than anyone else, regardless of whether she sought his help or not.
…Seeing her reaction and realizing his guess was correct, Shye finally decided to tell her about the system, aiming not only to ease her insecurities but also to make her understand that her attempts to catch up would only cause the gap between them to widen further.
Shye wanted to take care of Shirley and help her, and now he realized that he should've been more decisive about it.
Determined to stop acting like an indecisive wuss, Shye began to share his story with his silent lover.
He recounted how his parents suddenly vanished, how they were kicked out of their ho and lived like street rats for four years, how Maia almost died, how he t the hermit, and how he obtained the system.
In addition to this, he told her in great detail about the advantages the system gave him and how it helped him beco the so-called "legend" and "super rookie" he was today.
Contrary to what one might expect, he felt ashad after revealing the flashy adventurer system to her, believing he had cheated his way into earning Shirley's affection.
"Pfft! Hahahaha! So that's why you always blew things up and loved being the center of attention! So that's how you got stronger so quickly huh?... Phew…I thought I was simply way too untalented!"
Shirley's cute laugh of relief that sounded shortly after he finished speaking instantly removed all of the sha welling in his heart.
"You…don't despise ?"
"H-Huh? W-Why would I despise you? If anything, I'm relieved that you have such a secret, otherwise, I would probably continue to have insecurities should the gap between us widen further! Now, I can go train at my own pace without feeling too much pressure." Shirley honestly said with a relieved smile.
"Phew…I thought you would hate or sothing…Well, not quite at your own pace as you would be growing stronger way faster now."
Shye's words naturally made Shirley confused.
Hence, upon noticing her puzzled expression, he proceeded to explain his plan.
"Ahh... I forgot to ntion that the system lets use points to purchase any skill I want, turn them into skill books, and give them to anyone I choose."
"Also, I would be giving you lots of elixirs that you could use to improve your attributes by leaps and bounds in addition to a few life-saving items."
"I-I appreciate the thought but I don't want to impede your growth…"
"I have a goal that I probably would struggle to accomplish alone and I need trustworthy allies to help . Who else would I trust more than you, my beloved?"
Hearing Shye's sweet yet sincere words, Shirley almost lted in utter glee.
Taking this chance, Shye continued:
"So stop worrying about whether you'll hinder my progress or not. I'll still be the legend I am, whether I help you or not!" he said, pounding his chest in assurance. "Moreover, the faster you grow, the more we can stay together and the more you will be able to help ! What do you say? Won't you accept my arrangents this ti?"
Her dream had always been for the two of them to hunt high-ranked monsters together under the sa party, not because Shye wanted to help her complete her quests, but because she was genuinely skilled enough to be in the sa adventurer party as him.
Therefore, Shye's arrangents sounded much more appealing now that her insecurities were gone.
Besides, why had she been intentionally rejecting his help in the first place? He was her lover, for goodness' sake!
Who else would she turn to for assistance but him?
Once she beca capable enough, she could simply repay Shye by staying by his side as much as possible and looking after him in the little way she could.
With renewed resolve, Shirley looked at her lover with determination burning in her eyes, bringing a smile to Shye's face.
"I understand, I shall trust you and go along with your arrangents!"
"Great! Here's the plan…"
