[Back] [Exit System]
'Nice…this should be enough for now!' Shye thought inwardly, very pleased as he patiently checked his status.
He successfully leveled up the unique tier warrior skill, Blade of Despair, to level two and he wanted to do the sa for the other one gifted by Soaring Raven called Sword Realm.
Unfortunately, no matter how he tried to target the tal dummy, nothing happened.
Hence, he decided to call the training off for now.
It was pretty late in the evening and Shirley might've already received his note.
Putting away his weapons back to the system's inventory, Shye picked up his sack bag in the corner of the training room, offering a profound bow towards the staff mber manning the counter before leaving the training center with an unusually strange yet jolly grin.
…
'He's here! He's actually here to visit !' Shirley inwardly thought with a slight blush and an eager expression. 'We've already talked about this before parting, that he would rank up to ruby first before he would visit …did he achieve such a rank already?'
In the note, Shye explained that he was leveling up his skills at a training center within the city and would et her outside the White Forge Inn once he was done.
A bit excited to see her beloved, Shirley ended up sprinting like a child towards the inn she was staying at, rather disappointed that Shye wasn't there.
Well, she appreciated that he took the ti to visit her this early in their career, hence, she didn't mind waiting for a short while.
Finally, as Shirley basked in the gentle glow of the two moons, hurried footsteps sounded in the distance, prompting her to turn her head towards the source of the noise excitedly.
At that mont, the entire world seed to have slowed down for Shirley as an ashen-haired young man sprinted towards her with an equally eager and excited expression.
Tonight, Shye looked especially handso in her eyes.
"Shye!"
Unable to suppress her emotions, Shirley rushed towards Shye and gave him a sweet hug, staring straight into his eyes shortly after with the most affectionate smile she could muster.
After almost two months of being apart, this eting was simply as sweet and soothing as honey.
"Hey, Shirley. I got so free ti and was able to visit." Shye replied with an equally affectionate smile, gazing gently back at Shirley.
"I was so shocked after Miss Eva told that you visited . Did you already rank up to Ruby?"
Hearing her question, Shye couldn't help but chuckle.
"Hahaha! No, silly. Even if it's , I cannot rank up to Ruby that quickly! It's just that I need to travel to Kossin City to request new greatswords from my partnered blacksmith and since I was able to rank up to platinum way faster than I expected, I decided to co visit and see how you're doing."
"I-I see…You're platinum already…And here I am…still stuck at silver…" Shirley replied with a bittersweet expression.
She was happy that Shye already ranked up, but at the sa ti, she felt sad that the gap between the two of them was widening.
If things continue like this, it would be nothing but a pipe dream to be in the sa party as him.
Naturally, Shye noticed the subtle hint of sadness creeping into her heart, imdiately deducing that it was due to the gap between the two of them.
Well, Shye already knew from the beginning that she wouldn't be able to catch up to him no matter what she did, and he was already prepared for things to turn out that way.
He didn't mind it that much, to be honest as Shye didn't want her to participate in the absurdly dangerous quests he usually embarks on.
Hence, Shye believed that this was actually the best outco for both of them.
Still, he naturally wouldn't allow his beloved girlfriend to remain sad.
"Hey, with your skill, you'll rank up to gold in no ti! We just have a huge head start because Guild Master Soaring Raven promised to allow us, the representatives, to begin our careers as a gold-ranked adventurer. If not for that, the gap wouldn't be so huge." Shye consoled, putting his arms around her neck before continuing: "I know! How about we eat at your favorite restaurant?
You can order everything you want, my treat!"
Shirley was a simple girl.
Hearing that she would be able to eat anything she wanted, the darkness looming over her heart was suddenly washed away by feelings of excitent.
"I want to eat steak!"
"Let's go then, lead the way!"
The luxurious steak restaurant wasn't far from the White Forge Inn, hence, after just a few minutes of walking, they arrived.
Shirley could afford to eat at the restaurant by herself, however, she couldn't go ham in ordering dishes or she would risk sleeping at the guild's lobby should an ergency happen—utterly embarrassing.
Thus, when Shye offered to treat her to basically an all-you-can-eat at one of the fanciest restaurants in Nookbury City, the sadness in her heart was quickly replaced by joy as she ca to a realization.
'Well, as long as he still loves , why would adventurer ranks matter?'
