After Lilian left, Kevin was nearly done with his work. Pondering whether he should pick Jessie up from work, he decided to follow through with that plan. As he drove to Jessie’s shop, he saw Steve walk inside, his face darkening in an instant as he couldn’t help but speculate.

What was this man doing visiting Jessie so late? Kevin knew about Steve’s feelings for Jessie, and his expression grew more tense. In spite of that, he couldn’t confront them openly, as Steve was aware of his identity; charging in recklessly would only expose him.

He kept a close eye on the shop entrance, watching and waiting for the two to co out.

Fortunately, Jessie and Steve erged soon after.

Jessie closed the door and smiled. “I didn’t expect you’d co by so late.”

Steve scratched his head a bit sheepishly. “I’ve just been really busy lately and haven’t had the chance to visit. Plus, it’s quite late now. What happened to you last ti startled , so I thought I’d offer to take you ho.”

He stamred slightly, trying hard to act natural but only seeming more awkward.

Luckily, Jessie didn’t think much of it. She just nodded in appreciation of his thoughtfulness.

“Thank you, but there’s no need to worry. After what happened last ti, I signed up for a self-defense class. I’m pretty tough now.”

She said, showing off the muscles in her arm.

Steve looked at her with a tender gaze, but he quickly fixed his expression when she caught his eyes. He noticed the toy in her hand and asked curiously, “What’s that?”

Seeing him observing the toy, she offered it to him, “If you like it, you can have it.”

Steve was pleasantly surprised but graciously accepted it, praising, “Did you make this yourself? It looks very nice.”

Kevin saw Jessie giving Steve the toy, his face turning grim. Not only that, but he noticed that the toy she gave to Steve was identical to the one she’d given him, making him feel quite uncomfortable.

Seeing Jessie about to chat more with Steve, he couldn’t hold back and called out, “Jessie!”

Hearing his voice, both Jessie and Steve were montarily stunned. She glanced toward the source of the voice and saw Kevin’s old pickup truck parked by the roadside. Steve also saw it and realized that the man must be her husband.

“My husband’s here to pick up. See you next ti.” She waved goodbye to Steve with a smile.

He watched Jessie walk toward the car, feeling utterly heartbroken. That man was her husband; he had the status and the right to stand by her side, but he did not.

Oblivious to Steve’s gaze, Jessie approached the car and smiled. “Mr. Harper, what brings you to pick up today?”

“Get in.” Kevin didn’t say much, and his stern expression made her assu he had a rough day at work, so she quickly got in.

However, that voice made Steve’s eyes widen slightly. Why did it sound so familiar?

Moreover, that cold deanor was very similar to that of President Harper’s!

Watching the beat-up pickup truck drive away, Steve dismissed his thoughts as ridiculous.

How could soone like the eldest son of the Harper family be driving such an old truck?

Little did he know that the driver was indeed the real deal. Kevin drove in silence with a grim expression, while Jessie watched him cautiously. She didn’t know what had happened, trying to comfort him.

“Mr. Harper, did your boss scold you today?”

“No.”

“Did sothing go wrong at work?”

“No.”

“Did you have a fight with soone?”

“No.”

No matter what she asked, he remained cold and distant. Eventually, she grew tired of asking questions.

She hadn’t done anything to upset him, and since he didn’t want to talk, why should she let herself be burdened with his emotions?

Noticing Jessie had gone quiet, he sneaked a glance at her while the bitter feeling inside him grew.

He felt like she didn’t care about him at all, not wanting to give him any attention whatsoever!

Earlier today, he had even bragged to Adam about his toy, saying she had specially made it for him. However, now she suddenly turned around and gave Steve the sa thing. It could’ve been given to Lilian or Luke instead, but why Steve?

When they got ho and Kevin saw that Jessie still hadn’t spoken a word, he couldn’t help but ask.

“Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Jessie shrugged. “I’ve asked you a lot, but you won’t reply to . I haven’t done anything to make you feel bad, so why should I exhaust myself trying to deal with your emotions?”

Her reasoning was sound, but Kevin clenched his teeth, unsure how to reply.

He couldn’t directly tell her that he was upset due to him giving Steve the exact sa thing she had given him.

After all, she did ntion before that she was going to make these handicrafts to give away or sell them, and there was no rule saying she couldn’t make identical ones.

In that light, he was blaming her for no reason.

Noticing Kevin’s hesitancy, Jessie found it strange and spotted the charm hanging on his bag, the one she’d given him.

She was surprised that soone like him would wear such a thing. The adorable trinket didn’t match his cold deanor, but he still wore it; it astonished her.

“Mr. Harper, that’s the one I gave you, right?”

He nodded as he glanced in the direction she was pointing.

He had hung it in a way anybody could see, but she only noticed it now—her perceptiveness seed lacking. She was usually so quick to react; what made her so slow today? They had been together for a while, and she still took so long to notice.

The more he thought, the worse his expression beca.

“If you like it, Mr. Harper, I can make more for you next ti.” Jessie smiled, trying to lighten up the atmosphere.

However, Kevin glowered. “If what you give is the sa as what others get, then there’s no need.”

Hearing this, Jessie slightly raised an eyebrow, sensing a double aning to his words. After thinking it over, she realized the toy she gave Steve today was the sa as Kevin’s charm.

She couldn’t help but laugh as she asked, “Mr. Harper, did you see talking to Steve today? Are you jealous?”

Jealous? Kevin would never admit to being jealous, so he only gave her a cold snort.

“I just think that giving the sa thing to everyone is very impersonal.”
