Laura felt relieved when she saw so many people standing up for Jessie, stepping forward to express their opinion.

"Jessie, I still have all those contracts they forced us to sign back then. I can release them online now and let everyone know that they’re lying!"

Jessie noticed that Laura was upset. She patted her back to comfort her and said, "Mom, you don’t need to worry about this. I have it all under control. People only realize the pain when they fall from the top, and likewise, I should put the evidence out once public opinion peaks in order to strike them where it hurts the most."

"You should go ho, organize the docunts, and then send them to . For now, you and Luke stay at ho; try not to go out, and cancel your phone number before getting a new one. They’ve leaked our numbers, so there will certainly be harassnt."

Seeing Jessie handling things so calmly and orderly, Laura felt a sense of relief and nodded.

"Alright, I’ll listen to you. Don’t worry, no matter what happens, I’ll definitely support you."

Just as she finished speaking, Laura’s phone rang; it was William calling.

She answered in confusion, only to be t with her husband’s tirade.

"Laura! The people posting those things online must be your relatives, right? Didn’t you tell before that you had already cut ties with all those people? Now that they’re jumping out and asking for money, I’m warning you—I have no money! And even if I did, I wouldn’t give it to them, so you better take care of this quickly! If this affects and Luke, I won’t let this go easily!"

He had believed Laura’s nonsense when they got married. She had claid to have only a daughter, which was Jessie. He was quite pleased when he didn’t have to pay a bride price at first, only to find out that there was a catch later on.

All that online gossip was even affecting his work now. So people who had been to his house recognized her as his wife. While they seed friendly on the surface, they were secretly reporting to the boss, and he had just been questioned about it.

Laura noticed that instead of comforting her, William was only interrogating her right off the bat. Her heart turned a bit cold at the thought.

"William, those relatives drove us away right from the start. We even signed agreents to cut ties. This ti, they’re just shalessly trying to get us to give them money."

Hearing this, William realized his words earlier were sowhat harsh. However, he still urged, "Since you have evidence, why not release it and clarify things right away? Do you need to wait until they co knocking? The kid is still so young, what if it impacts his future?"

Though he didn’t know the full story at the beginning, today’s events had made it clear why Laura wasn’t keeping in touch with her relatives anymore—they were outright shaless, twisting the truth to get what they wanted.

Laura’s voice turned cold as she replied, "Don’t worry, Jessie and I will handle this; it definitely won’t affect you in any way. If you’re still concerned, then we can just get a divorce. By then, it will really have no connection to you—those people won’t have a reason to bother you."

Hearing her ntion divorce, he beca anxious. "Laura, why bring up divorce out of the blue? Luke is still so young, and our divorce might impact him a lot."

While he wasn’t entirely against divorce, Luke was simply too young and still needed Laura’s care. If they divorced now, Laura would definitely fight for custody. Once Luke was older and more independent, he would consider divorcing Laura.

He had been dissatisfied with her for a long ti, tolerating her strictly just for Luke’s sake.

If he could divorce her, he would marry Nancy imdiately. Every ti he saw Nancy, his heart itched with yearning.

Nancy had also said that she wanted him to give her a status; to be with her openly.

“Don’t bring this up again. I’m busy now, so let’s talk later.”

With that, William ended the call.

Laura’s eyes turned red instantly. Her once considerate husband had turned into this man.

"Jessie, I was truly blind to have married soone like this."

Jessie patted her back. "Mom, if you can’t take it, then just divorce him. I’m here to take care of you."

Laura fell silent, looking at Luke reluctantly. On the other hand, she also felt guilty toward Jessie; having not experienced much fatherly love herself, she wanted to give Jessie a complete family. However, she had been much too optimistic.

At that point, Jessie said no more. Laura could only figure out certain things on her own.

On the other side, Kevin had also seen the news first thing. After that, he imdiately dropped all his work in his hand to find Jessie.

Adam watched his hurried back and couldn’t help but whisper a complaint, “He says he doesn’t care and that he’s not concerned, but it’s only his mouth that’s saying all that.”

Drake had prepared the car, letting Kevin drive off.

By the ti he arrived, the little shop was bustling with people standing up for Jessie.

She had been running the shop for so ti, and her neighbors all knew what kind of person she was. After hearing Lilian talk about Jessie’s relatives, they were infuriated.

“I’ve never seen such shaless relatives!”

“No way, I’m going online right now to curse them out! How can they bully her like this?”

“Exactly! Our Jessie is being wronged; not only did they exploit her, but they’re also tarnishing her reputation now!” Lilian spoke out passionately. When she looked up, she saw Kevin approaching.

She imdiately nudged Jessie with her elbow. “Jessie, look who’s here.”

Jessie didn’t look up, silently typing on her phone. Her phone number had been exposed, and so people who were unaware of the full story were harassing and insulting her through ssages.

She ignored these, taking screenshots as evidence before blocking them.

When the people saw Kevin coming, they were intimidated by his cold deanor and unconsciously made way for him.

When the store soon turned quiet, only then did Jessie react. It had been so noisy earlier that she didn’t even hear Lilian.

Seeing Kevin coming first thing, not only did she feel touched, but Lilian and Laura were also quite satisfied with him.

Lilian knew the two had gotten married hastily without a proper emotional foundation, but Kevin’s quick arrival after Jessie had encountered a problem was enough to show how much he cared about her.

“You’re here.”

He nodded, examining her expression. Seeing her calm deanor, and after making sure she was alright, he felt relieved.

“I saw everything online. I ca to see you.”

His words ward her heart, recalling that he had claid before that if anything happened, she shouldn’t be afraid, as he would always be there. Now, he was proving his words to her.
