Kevin was surrounded by bodyguards, who were all keeping an eye on his surroundings. He had never really been a fan of attending these kinds of parties; he was only here to show himself briefly and exchange greetings with familiar executives to maintain his work relationships.
One of the bodyguards noticed Jessie in the crowd. Although Kevin had concealed his married status, as Kevin’s bodyguards, it was their responsibility to recognize Jessie’s identity.
They never expected her to attend such an event. They saw their madam being jostled throughout the crowd, even squinting her eyes in their direction. It would be disastrous if Jessie discovered Kevin’s actual identity.
The bodyguards imdiately exchanged glances, blocking Jessie’s line of sight on purpose. When Kevin finished his greeting, they seized the opportunity and quickly reported to him.
"Sir, we saw Madam Jessie here."
Kevin was equally surprised and frowned. "How did she end up here?"
Wasn’t this woman supposed to be out shopping for daily necessities?
In his view, Jessie was probably attending this party just to find a new, better ho for herself. After all, he had admitted to working as just a repairman to her. She must have been eager to leave him after knowing he had no money.
Moreover, nobody would be able to enter these sorts of parties without an escort...
This woman was really not simple...
But now was not the ti to ponder over these issues. If she really was the kind of person he imagined, he couldn’t risk exposing his identity in front of her.
Kevin whispered a few words to the bodyguards and then said sternly, "You absolutely cannot let her discover my identity. Watch her closely and note down any strange behavior at the party today."
"Yes, Sir," the bodyguards nodded.
One of them quickly stepped aside and called Jessie on Kevin’s phone.
With the bodyguards’ intentional blocking, and the phone in her pocket ringing, Jessie was getting overwheld by the crowd. She pushed her way out and took out her phone. It was a call from Kevin, but it stopped ringing just as she was about to answer.
Just as she was hesitating whether to call back or not, Kevin sent her a text ssage.
【I’m a bit busy here and won’t be able to finish work for a while. You go rest early and don’t worry about .】
Her suspicions disappeared after reading the ssage. Since Kevin was working outside, she must have mistaken what she saw just now.
She looked at President Harper in the distancea distance, who was constantly greeting people in the crowd, and couldn’t help but smile.
If he really was Kevin, he would need a double to send a ssage.
At this ti, Lilian also ca over and poked her. She curiously asked, "Jessie, did you just see President Harper’s face? Is he actually your husband? They both have the sa Harper surna; what if the plot from those novels actually cos true?"
Jessie looked at Lilian helplessly and waved her phone in front of her.
"You see this? My husband just texted . If he really was President Harper, how could he have ti to text now? You need to quit daydreaming. If there were such a chance of that happening, I’d rather buy a lottery ticket."
"You just read too many of those novels, Lilian. My husband is just an ordinary repairman. He doesn’t even drive a good car; only a broken pickup truck. If he really was such a rich man, why would he drive such a car?"
Jessie was stunned. After a bit of observation, she eventually recognized the man in the nice suit.
"You are... Steve Jas?"
Steve nodded, very happy that Jessie still rembered him, a slight smile on his lips.
Lilian looked at the two of them curiously, "How do you two know each other?"
"We were college classmates," He explained, scratching his head and sneakily glancing at Jessie.
"It’s a small world," Lilian sighed. "Since you two know each other, you can chat away first. I’ll go to the bathroom."
After saying that, Lilian left.
Steve watched her leave and couldn’t help but sigh. Jessie could tell he felt defeated and said with a smile, "With Lilian having the guts to talk to you like that, you both probably have a really good relationship."
It was a bit surprising for soone to have such an attitude toward their own boss.
Steve smiled bitterly. "Oh, you don’t know. I took her in as my employee, but it feels like I’ve beco the servant of a young lady instead. Originally, I wanted her to help talk and see if she could sign a few contracts. But you can see, she..."
Steve had been busy the entire evening, while Lilian was enjoying herself with her friends.
"You should talk to her more. Lilian may have that personality, but if you assign her a task, she will definitely do them well."
What she said was not wrong. Otherwise, Lilian would not have always ranked at the top in their company’s sales.
"Ti sure flies. It’s only been a few years, but you’re completely different from your college days—-more mature and handso..." Jessie sighed.
She also never expected her marriage to happen so suddenly.
Steve looked at her, nodding in agreent, "Yes, everyone changed a lot, and you only seem to be getting more and more beautiful."
The two smiled at each other. Steve never thought he would encounter Jessie here. He had been crushing on her since their college days, but various reasons prevented him from confessing his feelings.
Without her contact information, he thought his unrequited love would end there, but fate allowed him to et Jessie here.
"By the way, it’s very late now. Do you want to drive you back, and maybe..." Steve nervously rubbed his palms.
