Despite her icy reception, the two n still showed no intention of leaving. The one eating skewers laughed even more lewdly, "Yo, she’s got quite a personality."
Both n had clearly drunk a lot.
Lai Shuo never got out of the car. Ye Yuning closed her eyes, and the next mont, she flung her arms up.
The mont she overturned the table—CLANG! BANG! POP!—everything on it smashed onto those two lewd n, then rolled onto the ground, making a harsh noise in the night sky.
The two n were drenched with alcohol and food from the table and, fueled by the alcohol they’d already consud, imdiately beca furious.
"You damned bitch! We’re being nice to you, and you throw it back in our faces?"
BANG!
A beer bottle shattered. Ye Yuning stood up, gripping the broken neck, and faced the two n. "That’s right, I am. If you’re not afraid of soone getting killed, then bring it on!"
Her voice was soft, yet it distinctly conveyed the danger in her tone.
The nacing expressions on the two n’s faces froze when they heard the danger in her voice.
Ye Yuning’s lips curved into a dangerous arc. "Want to go to the Jinling Hotel?"
The two n: "..."
Everyone present: "..."
All eyes, pupils constricted, fixed on Ye Yuning.
Initially, seeing two large n harassing a young woman, so onlookers had been itching to step in. But before they could, Ye Yuning had already flipped the table.
Now, seeing that the two n still hadn’t left, a tall man from another table stood up behind Ye Yuning. He glared fiercely at the two harassers. "Still not leaving?!"
His dangerous voice seed to jolt the two drunk n sober, making them shiver.
Just then, the owner of the barbecue stall, having heard the commotion, ca out wielding a large ladle.
"If you’re not here to genuinely eat, then scram!"
The owner wasn’t mincing words.
The two n, seeing the situation turn against them, imdiately lost their arrogance and turned to flee. But just as they turned, they heard the owner say, "Please settle your bill first. What, planning to dine and dash? And you’ll also compensate for these damages."
"That woman was the one who flipped the table."
"Hmm?" The owner’s tone turned threatening, and he thrust the ladle forward slightly.
Witnessing this, the two n, now half-sobered by fright, no longer dared to be arrogant. They hurriedly went to settle the bill.
The owner turned to Ye Yuning. "Miss, I’m truly sorry for this unpleasant dining experience. How about I grill another portion for you?"
Ye Yuning nodded. "Thank you!"
She was truly hungry; she had barely taken a few bites before the trouble began.
When she turned to look at the man who had stood up for her, Ye Yuning’s expression froze.
The man wore a baseball cap, but even in the dim light, his exceptional good looks couldn’t be concealed.
A man, this handso...
Ye Yuning said, "Thank you for earlier."
Although this man’s intervention wasn’t exactly tily, she believed that if a real fight had broken out, he would certainly have joined in.
"You’re welco. Are you out here alone?"
Ye Yuning paused. Alone? Not exactly, but Lai Shuo might as well not have been here.
With such a commotion, she couldn’t believe Lai Shuo, sitting in the car, hadn’t noticed a thing. Yet in those ten-odd minutes, he hadn’t stepped out!
"I suppose I am," Ye Yuning said.
The man glanced down at her palm and frowned. "You’re hurt."
Ye Yuning looked down. Only then did she see that the hand she’d used to grip the broken bottle was steadily dripping blood.
She’d be lying if she said she hadn’t been nervous during the ordeal. If she’d actually encountered soone truly reckless, it might have escalated into a big fight. And Lai Shuo probably wouldn’t have gotten out of the car.
Now that it was over, she finally felt the piercing pain from where the bottle had cut her palm.
For her hand to be injured now, this was really... inconvenient.
"It’s just a minor wound, nothing serious," Ye Yuning said softly.
As an apology, the owner grilled her food quickly, and Ye Yuning finished it in no ti.
When she got into the car, it would have been one thing if Lai Shuo had completely ignored what had happened. But then he even asked, "Do you need to take you to the hospital?"
A sinister glint flashed in Ye Yuning’s eyes.
So Lai Shuo had seen the whole thing? And he knew she was hurt!
Taking a deep breath, Ye Yuning closed her eyes. "Lai Shuo, if I had really started fighting those two n earlier, would you have gotten out of the car?"
"No. The Master only instructed to escort you," Lai Shuo answered crisply.
Ye Yuning scoffed. Just to escort her? Did she, Ye Yuning, not know how to drive? Or could she not afford a driver? Did she need Xiao Linye to send soone whose very presence infuriated her to parade around in front of her?
Ye Yuning said nothing more. It had been like this with Lai Shuo for the past few days: she spoke, he answered. If Ye Yuning didn’t speak, he wouldn’t initiate conversation.
When they arrived at Xiangti, Ye Yuning got out of the car. Just as Lai Shuo was about to drive off, she spoke coldly, "Wait!"
He thought he could get away so easily after all that? Not a chance...
