Ye Yuning, upon hearing these words, scoffed sarcastically, "Why wouldn’t I dare to bring it up?"
She had always been blunt with Zheng Cailan and saw no need for pleasantries!
Seeing Zheng Cailan’s suddenly gloomy face, Ye Yuning knew she must have suffered a significant loss at the hands of the Qin Family.
Mrs. Qin was notoriously difficult! For Zheng Cailan to provoke her showed she had lived all these years without understanding her own limitations.
Zheng Cailan, breathing heavily, looked at her. "Since you’re so dismissive of our past, there’s no need for to be polite either. We should bring up the matter of the shares."
She had intended to retrieve all those shares before Ye Yuning married into the Qin family. But this damned girl was so cunning! Since Ye Yuning had agreed to marry into the Qin family, Zheng Cailan hadn’t dared to push too hard at the ti, fearful of antagonizing her. Hearing that Zheng Cailan was here for the shares, Ye Yuning raised an eyebrow. "How do you plan to put it on the agenda?"
"Tomorrow, I’ll bring a lawyer over. You just need to sign the transfer docunts!"
"Transfer docunts?" Ye Yuning’s laugh grew more ironic. "Are you sure my signature alone will make them effective?"
Talking about past fondness and politeness with ? Does she really have the nerve? Does she think she’s worthy?
Her mocking tone made Zheng Cailan’s gaze sharpen.
Before Zheng Cailan could speak, Ye Yuning continued, "Years ago, Old Madam Mu and you had an agreent: any changes to my shares in the Ye Corporation require the personal signature of her son, Mu Changfeng. Did you not know about that agreent, or did you forget?"
As Ye Yuning finished speaking, Zheng Cailan’s breath hitched!
She looked at Ye Yuning incredulously, her face paling.
Ye Yuning pressed, "Or do you think that just because the Mu Family left Upper City, you can get away with tampering with things?"
Zheng Cailan stamred, "You... how did you..."
"How did I know?" Ye Yuning retorted. "Are you unclear why Old Madam Mu signed that agreent with you all? How could I possibly not know?"
"But you weren’t even an adult back then...!"
"Not an adult?" Ye Yuning cut her off sharply. "If I had been, do you think any of you would still have a stake in the Ye Corporation?"
It seed that when dealing with people like her, one couldn’t be too subtle. Last ti, I thought I had made myself clear enough! Yet she still had the audacity to show up today. In that case, I might as well lay everything out completely this ti.
Hearing Ye Yuning’s sharp and dangerous tone, Zheng Cailan was completely dumbfounded, staring at her in disbelief.
How could Ye Yuning know about the agreent they had signed with Old Madam Mu all those years ago?
In a flash, Zheng Cailan understood. Gasping, she asked, "Did Old Madam Mu go to you?"
"Hmph, do you even need to ask?" Ye Yuning scoffed.
Zheng Cailan’s breath hitched again.
Back then, when the Mu Family was about to leave Upper City, Ye Yuning was only fourteen. If they hadn’t still needed the Mu Family’s support, they would never have signed that docunt. Zheng Cailan rembered that when they signed it, Ye Yuning was away on a study trip, not in Upper City. By the ti she returned, the Mu Family had already left! So, she had always assud Ye Yuning was unaware of this. But now...
"Ye Yuning!" Zheng Cailan trembled as she looked at her, her eyes filled with malice.
Ye Yuning stated, "Unless you’re prepared to bankrupt the Ye Corporation just to stop from getting dividends, then as long as it’s profitable, my share must be dutifully given to every year."
"Of course, I know you’re dishonest enough to try and tamper with things. However, starting this year, a professional team will audit the accounts annually. If anything amiss is discovered, don’t bla for not being ’polite’!"
She deliberately mimicked Zheng Cailan’s earlier tone when she said the word ’polite.’
This infuriated Zheng Cailan so much she was rendered speechless.
Initially, due to the severe losses they incurred because of the Qin Family’s affairs, she had wanted to recoup them from Ye Yuning. Who would have thought the Mu Family had such a contingency in place! She was unwilling to accept it, but she also knew with bitter clarity that the losses related to the Qin Family were now completely irretrievable.
After a long pause, Zheng Cailan ground her teeth. "Ye Yuning, you’re ruthless!"
Ye Yuning simply raised an eyebrow, giving her a look that wordlessly accepted the ’complint.’
This infuriated Zheng Cailan so much she nearly had a heart attack.
Just then, Ye Tong’s call ca in.
Zheng Cailan, suppressing her anger, answered, "Tongtong."
Seeing her abrupt change in attitude, Ye Yuning chuckled with even more sarcasm. It had to be said, Zheng Cailan truly doted on her own daughter; no matter how furious she was, she was always patient with Ye Tong.
On the other end of the line, Ye Tong seed to hear Ye Yuning’s laughter.
Her heart leaped into her throat. "Why weren’t you answering your phone? Are you still in Ye Yuning’s office?"
After hanging up with Xiao Shuo, she had been calling Zheng Cailan repeatedly, but to no avail.
Now that her mother had finally answered, an ominous feeling crept into Ye Tong’s heart...
