Lai Shuo tensed under that stare but still managed to say, "Xia Andai."
Xiao Linye fell silent. It would have been better not to ntion that woman; at her na, his expression darkened further.
As Lai Shuo watched his expression darken, he realized what he had just said.
Damn it... What was I telling the Master? That woman is unhinged! Saying this makes sound unhinged too, doesn’t it?
Lai Shuo’s breathing quickened.
Xiao Linye asked, his voice noticeably colder than before, "Lai Shuo, do you realize what you are saying?"
Lai Shuo trembled. "I, I do!"
"Get out!" Xiao Linye bit out, his head aching.
What was wrong with everyone lately? Lai Shuo hadn’t always been like this. What had gotten into him?
Lai Shuo said nothing more, hastily turning and fleeing.
I must have been crazy to think the Master would stand up for . And judging by his reaction, has he really fallen for the Ye family’s adopted daughter? If that’s true... things are about to get really ssy.

Alone now, Xiao Linye’s chest heaved with mounting frustration. There was still no news of Ye Yuning.

Kang Xuan was montarily speechless. Is he trying to freeze Lai Shuo to death? No, wait. What did he do to provoke the Master this ti? Lai Shuo looked terrible when he left just now. But then again, speaking of Lai Shuo! Lately, he deserved every punishnt the Master dished out. The man’s temper was getting increasingly erratic. The Master had clearly spoiled him rotten before.
"Understood," Kang Xuan nodded.
Xiao Linye pressed a hand to his throbbing forehead. "Get Yunzhou back here. Imdiately."
Lin Yunzhou? Kang Xuan was visibly stunned upon hearing that Yunzhou was to be recalled. Could it be true, just as Lai Shuo suspected? Did the Ye family’s adopted daughter really hold such an important place in the Master’s heart? Important enough to deploy Lin Yunzhou?
Though puzzled, Kang Xuan didn’t dare question further. He nodded. "Very well. But if the Old Master finds out...?"
"Don’t worry about him," Xiao Linye said icily. "Just go make the arrangents."
"Alright." Since Xiao Linye had spoken so decisively, Kang Xuan had nothing more to add and simply nodded.
"Also, Sir," Kang Xuan continued, "this is an invitation to Old Master Sheng’s banquet. When Butler Zhong had it delivered, he said you absolutely must attend."
Xiao Linye looked at the invitation and said nothing, but his eyes clearly deepened at that mont.
No one knew what kind of stormy fury he was suppressing in his heart...
The Sheng Family... Heh. Even the surna Sheng was enough to make him scoff at the irony.
