Xiao Linye instantly felt a headache coming on.
When had this girl, Ye Yuning, begun to have such a poor impression of him?
Every mont, no matter what dissatisfaction arose, she had to drag him into a comparison!
"Why are you comparing to Seventh Master Xiao again?" he asked, exasperated.
"They’re both equally twisted!" Ye Yuning muttered discontentedly.
Xiao Linye was speechless. This topic was unmanageable. If they continued, he felt he would have a heart attack.
Ye Yuning didn’t end up working overti thanks to Xiao Linye’s intervention, even if it was rather domineering.
However, because of Xiao Linye’s sa domineering attitude, Xiao Shuo found he couldn’t leave work.
Yang Jing now harbored a massive grievance against Xiao Shuo. She slamd the file folder onto his desk with force.
"If you had just done it my way, there’s no way you wouldn’t have finished!" she shouted, her face livid with rage. Her patience with Xiao Shuo had clearly reached its limit.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Shuo felt his blood boil.
"You increase my workload every week! Do you take for a machine?" he retorted, equally furious.
He thought of his endless overti. He had just managed to get his work sowhat in order, finally able to leave at a normal ti, only for his workload to increase again. This vicious cycle had pushed Xiao Shuo to his limits more than once.
Yang Jing was also furious.
She had her own child to care for. As Xiao Shuo’s superior, if he didn’t finish his work, she couldn’t leave on ti either. Since Xiao Shuo had joined the Xiao Family company, she’d lost count of how many tis she’d been late picking up her child. Now, she even had to spend an extra four thousand a month to hire a nanny! The problem was, nannies also had set hours, and she had to rush ho before the nanny’s shift ended.
"This is the Xiao Family company, your family’s business, after all," Yang Jing continued, her voice sharp. "I don’t know if you’re made of iron, but I do know you’re not taking this seriously!"
"You..." Xiao Shuo was so angry he was speechless.
Not taking it seriously? Wasn’t he dedicated enough?
"I’m practically living at the company! I’ve poured my heart and soul into this. How much more dedicated can I possibly be?" he yelled.
He swore he had never been so serious about anything in his life. He had been conscientiously handling every single phone call during this period. And still, she said he wasn’t dedicated?
Xiao Shuo felt he was about to snap.
Yet Yang Jing, herself on the verge of a breakdown, shot back, "You call yourself dedicated? Your ’dedication’ is why I can’t leave on ti!"
"Who’s stopping you from leaving on ti? Go on, leave then!" Xiao Shuo retorted.
"If I leave, who’s going to submit the work to the CEO’s office tomorrow? Should I send you to explain it?" Yang Jing yelled.
Rembering the two tis Xiao Shuo hadn’t finished his work, which had even resulted in her being fined, made her anger flare even hotter.
The two of them hadn’t seen eye to eye for so ti now. Today, seeing Xiao Shuo still buried under a mountain of unfinished work, Yang Jing finally snapped. She didn’t care anymore that he was a mber of the Xiao Family, their youngest heir; she unleashed her fury directly at him.
Xiao Shuo, naturally, wouldn’t back down.
The pressure he’d been under at the company lately was enormous—pressure from his Seventh Uncle, pressure from his father. Now, even a re departnt supervisor was giving him attitude! How could he tolerate this?
When Kang Xuan arrived, he found the two locked in a fierce argunt.
"Enough," he stated, his voice cold and commanding.
The heated confrontation imdiately cooled.
Seeing Kang Xuan, Yang Jing angrily tossed her long hair back and seethed, "Go ahead and issue a penalty! He’s definitely not going to finish today. It’s just my rotten luck to be stuck with soone so useless."
When Xiao Shuo had first joined the Expansion Departnt, Yang Jing had confidently assured everyone she would ntor him effectively. But she had been utterly wrong! How could she have expected anything from a second-generation rich kid who’d spent his life chasing won? And weren’t the higher-ups at the Xiao Family company expecting far too much from him? The Xiao Family had plenty of mbers; they weren’t short on potential heirs. So why were they so desperately trying to cultivate this one? Assigning so much work in a single day—how could soone like him possibly complete it all?
The more Yang Jing thought about it, the angrier she beca.
Xiao Shuo exploded. "Who are you calling useless? Watch your mouth!"
n hated nothing more than being called useless, especially by a woman.
Yang Jing retorted, "So what if I say you’re useless? You are useless! And you want to watch my mouth? You—"
"That’s enough!" Kang Xuan cut her off before she could finish.
Watching them argue so vehently, Kang Xuan understood the imnse pressure Yang Jing was under.
He waved a hand dismissively at her. "You can leave for the day, Yang Jing."
Those were the exact words Yang Jing had been waiting for.
She couldn’t stand this second-generation heir a mont longer! At this rate, her own daughter would barely recognize her...
Yang Jing shot Xiao Shuo a fierce glare, then turned and walked into her office. Less than a minute later, she erged with her bag.
Her triumphant, haughty deanor infuriated Xiao Shuo.
Yang Jing left.
Now, only Xiao Shuo and Kang Xuan remained in the Expansion Departnt. Xiao Shuo slumped into his chair, glaring. "What now, Assistant Kang?" he asked resentfully. "Planning to personally supervise my overti tonight?"
Kang Xuan regarded him, then asked, "Do you know why you’re always working overti?"
His tone was deep, laden with aning.
Xiao Shuo’s eyelid twitched. He looked up at Kang Xuan, angry yet numb, as a dreadful suspicion began to bloom in his mind.
