"Boss." Chen Wei enunciated, biting down hard on the word.
It was unclear whether she was deliberately mocking Lai Shuo or the entire Xiao Corporation.
Just as she had said before, Ye Yuning was, after all, the boss of Manlang.
Not only did the Xiao Corporation make another company’s boss co to their office, but they also presud to check up on her.
If word of this got out, anyone who heard it would surely say the Xiao Corporation was in the wrong.
Lai Shuo’s face was sowhat ashen. "You haven’t sent your email today."
After the lessons from the past two days, coupled with a stern scolding from Lord Xiao this morning, Lai Shuo now spoke with a noticeable tone of politeness.
Chen Wei, hearing this polite tone, was montarily stunned and looked at Lai Shuo in disbelief.
Lai Shuo saw her silence and the curious, almost bewildered way she was looking at him.
His insides were churning, and he struggled to maintain his composure.
He took a deep breath, suppressing his irritation. "Did you forget?"
"No!"
"Then, what is it...?" Could she be doing this on purpose?!
When it ca to people from Manlang, he instinctively tried to figure them out.
But he quickly swallowed back his suspicions before voicing them; he hadn’t forgotten why he’d been scolded so harshly today.
Chen Wei asked, "Who told you that our boss’s design would have daily progress?"
Lai Shuo stamred, "You..."
"Showing you the progress was because we at Manlang don’t want major changes at the final stage of the design."
"..."
"But if we’re strictly following the submission deadlines, the contract states them very clearly."
According to the contract, they were required to submit drafts three tis in total. However, the deadline for the first submission hadn’t even arrived yet, and Manlang had already sent two update emails. So, had they spoiled him into expecting daily updates?
Chen Wei suddenly brought up the contract, leaving Lai Shuo utterly speechless.
He stared blankly at Chen Wei.
Chen Wei pressed, "Assistant Lai, surely you haven’t failed to read the contract, have you?"
Lai Shuo said nothing.
Hearing this, his already strained breathing grew heavier.
Not waiting for him to speak, Chen Wei continued, "Or perhaps, did Lord Xiao send you?"
Lord Xiao sent him? No, Lord Xiao absolutely had not!
Previously, regarding Boss Ye’s work arrangents, Lord Xiao had clearly voiced no objections.

Knowing Ye Yuning had a short temper, she intentionally wanted Lai Shuo to go in and get rebuffed.
When Lai Shuo heard he should personally go in and ask Ye Yuning, his expression changed drastically.
He quickly shook his head. "No, no need!"
He knew very well what kind of temperant Ye Yuning had.
Besides, she was now secretly in contact with Lord Xiao; she might lodge another complaint against him.
At this thought, how could Lai Shuo dare to go in and ask Ye Yuning anything? He quickly scurried away in dejection.
Chen Wei watched him turn and leave, feeling sowhat baffled.
"Huh, leaving already? Weren’t you here to ask about our boss’s progress?" Didn’t he just say he wanted the boss to co to their office? So now he wasn’t asking about the progress, nor was he ntioning her going to the Xiao Corporation office anymore?
Lai Shuo nearly stumbled at her words, grinding his teeth. These damn won from Manlang, none of them are to be trifled with!
Watching Lai Shuo enter the elevator, Chen Wei finally let out a scornful chuckle and turned away.
When she reached Ye Yuning’s office, Ye Yuning was on the phone.
The call was from Zheng Cai. "No matter what, co back tomorrow. I’ve had the kitchen prepare so nourishing soup for you. You’re too thin; you need to eat properly."
Hearing Zheng Cai’s concerned tone, Ye Yuning instantly labeled her: Two-faced!
Exactly. Zheng Cai and Xiao Shuo are cut from the sa cloth. Their kindness always cos with an agenda. The mont they can’t achieve their goals, that gentle mask is torn off, and they turn into mad dogs, relentlessly attacking you.
"No, thank you. Your soup is sothing I dare not drink!" Ye Yuning said bluntly.
Her attitude showed Zheng Cai absolutely no courtesy.
Yet, Zheng Cai didn’t get angry. Instead, her tone beca even more indulgent. "Silly girl, what nonsense are you talking about? Still angry with ?"
Ye Yuning said nothing.
Given all this, she’d never believe Zheng Cai didn’t have ulterior motives.
But after all these years, she knew exactly what kind of person Zheng Cai was. So, hearing the stark contrast between her current attitude and her previous behavior, she wasn’t surprised in the least.
"I know I was too harsh before. How about I apologize to you?"
When Ye Yuning didn’t respond, Zheng Cai, on the other end, softened her tone and stance even further.
Ye Yuning remained silent.
