Gui Xingli’s excessively forthright attitude left Ye Yuning looking at her with utter bewildernt. That look, tinged with a judgntal suspicion, was particularly obvious.
Noticing the odd look, Gui Xingli raised an eyebrow. "Why are you looking at like that?"
Ye Yuning asked, "Miss Gui, why would you want to help like this?"
It wasn’t that she had encountered trouble she couldn’t handle. But if she ever did, she felt that Miss Gui Xingli was definitely not joking. If Gui Xingli said she would help, she absolutely would.
Gui Xingli replied, "Our personalities click. I consider you a friend. Is that not okay?"
Not a business partner, but a friend. This made Ye Yuning’s heart clench. They had only t two or three tis, and Gui Xingli was already so determined to be friends with her? She wasn’t so naive child! Thus, her gaze towards Gui Xingli beca even more conflicted now.
Xiao Linye hadn’t managed to have lunch with Ye Yuning again, so he ate a makeshift al in his office at noon. Lai Shuo could clearly sense the oppressive aura emanating from him, a result of failing to secure a lunch date with his wife. He couldn’t help but sigh internally. Married n really do change.
Lai Shuo respectfully placed the al he’d brought from the company cafeteria on the coffee table and casually remarked, "The young Chairman from Luozhou has been visiting Upper City quite frequently recently."
"Are you talking about Gui Xingli?" Xiao Linye’s eyebrows shot up, his pupils constricting sharply.
Lai Shuo nodded. "Yes. She only recently took over the Gui Family, and it’s a busy period in Luozhou right now. I didn’t expect her to co to Upper City so often."
"So frequently?"
"Yes!" Lai Shuo affird with another nod.
A profound look flickered in Xiao Linye’s eyes. His breathing also grew heavier at that mont. Then, he instructed in a low voice, "See who she’s been eting."
Seeing Xiao Linye’s strong reaction, Lai Shuo was sowhat perplexed but nodded nonetheless.
After lunch, Gui Xingli was driving Ye Yuning back to Manlang. On the way, Jiang Ye suddenly said to her, "There’s a car that’s been following us."
"Since when?" Gui Xingli asked, her voice turning icy.
The sudden chill in her tone made Ye Yuning, sitting beside her, tense up instantly. She knew the Gui Family wasn’t simple, but she hadn’t imagined that danger was so pervasive.
Jiang Ye replied, "It seems to be targeting Boss Ye. That car was already in the underground parking lot when we arrived at Manlang."
"Targeting ?" Ye Yuning’s breath hitched.
Gui Xingli, however, appeared remarkably unfazed. She looked at Ye Yuning and asked, "Do you want to deal with them for you?"
"Don’t!" Now that sothing unexpected has happened, don’t I need to figure out what’s going on? If I just let them handle it, who knows what kind of trouble those people will stir up next. It’s always easier to deal with troublemakers who’ve already shown their hand.
Seeing Ye Yuning respond without hesitation, Gui Xingli smiled faintly. "Not afraid of danger?"
"What danger could there be? At most, it’s just so small fry who can’t do anything to trying to stir up trouble." Like Zheng Cai! Or Ye Tong and Xiao Shuo. Besides them, I haven’t really offended anyone else. Oh, wait, there is one more person I’ve offended—Simon of the Xiao Family.
Seeing her nonchalant deanor, Gui Xingli nodded. "Good that you’re not afraid. Here, this is for you."
As she spoke, she pulled a small, exquisite pistol from her bag and pressed it into Ye Yuning’s hand. Ye Yuning flinched at the cold tal. When she got a clear look at it, her pupils contracted in terror.
"Th-th-this... I don’t want it..."
Even though she was usually quite daring, she was still startled when Gui Xingli offered her such a thing. Besides, carrying it was illegal; she didn’t want to invite unnecessary trouble.
Seeing her so scared, Gui Xingli chuckled softly. "This little thing can help you solve a lot of problems."
"Yes, and it will also bring fundantal trouble." Saying this, Ye Yuning quickly thrust it back into Gui Xingli’s hand.
She’d long heard about the Gui Family’s standing on the Luozhou border, but she never expected them to be so blatant. Does Young Chairman Gui really trust this much? But this kind of trust... I can’t accept it! Ye Yuning was wailing internally.
Seeing her firm refusal, Gui Xingli didn’t insist. "Alright. If you can’t resolve it, I’ll handle it for you directly."
"No, I can handle it!" Although she hated Zheng Cai to the bone, she absolutely wouldn’t resort to such thods. Arson and murder? She wouldn’t do it, nor would she dare!
Gui Xingli personally escorted her to the underground parking lot. Only after watching Ye Yuning enter the elevator alone did she turn her car around. Noticing the headlights of a nearby car switch off, Gui Xingli’s red lips curved slightly. "Give them a little warning."
"Alright." Jiang Ye nodded, a dangerous glint in his eyes. He imdiately drove their car, ramming it into the vehicle that was attempting to pull into a parking space.
The car was slamd against the adjacent wall. The driver inside cried out, clearly terrified. Jiang Ye stopped their car. "Boss Ye of Manlang is a friend of our Simon. Rember that!" With that, their car sped off.
The driver, though unhard, turned pale upon hearing the na "Simon."
As the G-Wagon drove out of the parking garage, Jiang Ye received a call. After hanging up, he turned to Gui Xingli in the backseat with a grave expression. "Simon wants to see you."
