「Back ho.」

Xiao Linye hadn’t returned yet.

Ye Yuning’s habit upon entering the house was to take a shower imdiately. However, it was only after she had undressed and stepped into her bathroom that she rembered: there was no hot water.

Drenched by the cold water, she felt a deep chill run through her body.

She grabbed a bath towel, quickly wrapped it around herself, and rushed toward the main bathroom, shivering from the cold.

But the mont she stepped out of her room, she saw the man walking in from the entrance. Ye Yuning froze. A startled cry caught in her throat, and she swallowed it back down. Her breathing hitched as she turned and hurried back into her room, quickly finding a more substantial nightgown to put on.

When she erged again, Xiao Linye was sitting on the sofa, the lines of his profile taut.

The air was faintly tinged with the sll of alcohol.

His obsidian-like eyes, when they stared at her, held a dark fire and a restrained hunger, as if he wanted to devour her.

Ye Yuning swallowed unconsciously. "I’m sorry," she said, "I didn’t think you’d be back so soon."

She had assud he wouldn’t return so quickly. After all, in her experience, whenever she had social engagents, she usually couldn’t get away before ten at night.

Now, it was just nine o’clock, and he was already ho.

"Um, there’s no hot water in my bathroom," she explained. "We probably need to call property managent to get it fixed."

Xiao Linye finally composed himself and nodded. "Hmm, soone will co to fix it tomorrow."

Hearing his slightly hoarse voice, Ye Yuning cautiously glanced at him. Xiao Linye’s eyes were now half-closed, a trace of weariness etched on his brow.

Facing a man who had been drinking, Ye Yuning’s first instinct was to keep her distance.

But rembering the ticulous care he had shown her since she moved in, she eventually softened. She slowly approached him and asked gently, "Um, would you like to make sothing to help you sober up?"

To Ye Yuning, the mix of alcohol and tobacco suddenly didn’t sll so unpleasant.

Her warm breath brushed against his neck.

Xiao Linye lifted his eyelids to look at her, the suppressed fire in his eyes flaring up once more.

eting such a gaze, Ye Yuning instinctively wanted to step back.

But before she could move, she heard his voice, once again gentle as usual, "Do you know how to make it?"

I don’t, but I can look it up online!

Ye Yuning asked uncertainly, "As long as there are ingredients, it should be possible, right?"

She sounded uncertain, but this very uncertainty, this display of artlessness, seed to touch Xiao Linye’s heart.

"Why don’t you give it a try?"

He must be feeling truly awful, she thought, otherwise he would never let her into the kitchen.

Ye Yuning had always been independent all these years, pouring all her passion into her design work.

As for her daily life, she had always just muddled through!

After Chen Wei beca her assistant, Chen Wei had always arranged everything perfectly for her.

Now, standing in the kitchen, while she wasn’t completely ignorant about everything, the sight of the modern appliances left her sowhat bewildered.

She randomly grabbed a pot and was about to fill it with water.

The kitchen was open-plan. Xiao Linye, seeing her grab a wok clearly ant for stir-frying, instinctively called out a reminder, "You don’t need to make too much sobering-up tea; you can use a smaller pot."

Ye Yuning looked at the large wok in her hands, then quickly put it down. "Okay."

She turned to find a smaller pot!

A series of CLANGS and BANGS soon echoed from the kitchen.

Xiao Linye sat on the sofa, his gaze tenderly following her back as she bustled about. She’s so small, he thought, and so earnest.

Ye Yuning truly wasn’t very skilled with kitchen matters.

But her one saving grace, perhaps, was her willingness to learn!

Does Xiao Linye drink often? she wondered. The kitchen actually had all the necessary ingredients.

She tossed all of them into the pot and set them to boil.

Half an hour later, Ye Yuning brought out the sobering-up tea, carefully blowing on it to cool it down for him.

Such concoctions weren’t typically judged on flavor. However, when Xiao Linye drank it, he found the taste was indeed far worse than any other sobering-up tea he’d ever had.

Ye Yuning watched him. "How is it?"

Xiao Linye said expressionlessly, "This stuff all tastes the sa."

Still, for her to have made it at all was quite sothing.

Ye Yuning said, "Actually, just drinking sobering-up tea doesn’t do much to relieve the next day’s discomfort."

"Oh?" Xiao Linye looked at her, puzzled.

He himself had rarely drunk alcohol in recent years, only when absolutely necessary!

But he had to admit, she was right about one thing: the aftermath of drinking, the next day, was thoroughly unpleasant.

That was precisely why he avoided alcohol unless it was absolutely necessary.

Ye Yuning then said, "I have a thod. Would you like to try it in a bit?"

"Okay."

Although he didn’t know what thod she was referring to, seeing how earnest she looked, Xiao Linye felt it might actually be reliable.

Ye Yuning urged, "Then you should finish the sobering-up tea quickly and go take a shower."

She needed to take a shower too!

Her earlier fumbling in the kitchen, thanks to her inexperience, had left her all sweaty.

After coaxing Xiao Linye to finish the sobering-up tea, she found another set of pajamas for herself and then headed to the main bathroom for her own shower.

What she didn’t know was that Xiao Linye hadn’t actually vomited from the alcohol earlier.

But after drinking her sobering-up tea and returning to the bathroom in his own room, he ended up vomiting so violently it felt as if the world were spinning...!
