The next morning, Nora Northwood awoke abruptly from a dream.

The mont she opened her eyes, she couldn’t recall what had happened in the dream.

At that mont, the sky was not yet fully bright.

The light of dawn stread into the room through the gap in the curtains.

What startled Nora once again was that the space beside her pillow was empty.

There was no light coming from the direction of the bathroom.

Where had Jasper Sinclair gone?

Desperately, Nora threw off the covers, not even bothering to put on shoes, just wanting to rush out to find him.

"Where are you going?"

Suddenly, a voice sounded behind her, sowhat ethereal and distant, as if from ancient tis.

Nora turned around and found Jasper hidden near the balcony, his body obscured by the curtain.

Looking down, she saw a half-smoked cigarette between his fingers.

As a master perfur, Nora’s sense of sll was extrely sensitive.

Lately, she often caught a faint scent of tobacco on Jasper.

She knew this man was under a lot of pressure, so she didn’t ask much; most of the ti, she turned a blind eye, letting him smoke.

But seeing it with her own eyes today, she had to ntion it.

"You’ve been smoking a lot recently."

As she spoke, she moved past the foot of the bed, taking a few steps closer to the balcony.

Outside, the sun was just rising.

The morning breeze swept in, taking away all the warmth from under the covers.

Jasper’s gaze lingered on Nora’s face, not fully awakened, and he calmly explained, "I only smoke occasionally. If you don’t like it, I’ll quit."

"I don’t like it."

"Alright."

The simple conversation ended, and the air suddenly fell silent.

Nora, like soone searching for words, brought up the past: "When we first got married, you had a habit of smoking, maybe two or three a day. But I don’t like the sll of smoke, and my profession doesn’t allow to inhale large amounts of tobacco."

"So I quit smoking for you, didn’t I?"

"Sort of, but when you’re particularly upset, you’ll have one or two. But most of the ti, you don’t smoke."

Jasper understood what she ant and smiled.

"Nora, you can just ask directly why I’m upset, no need to go around in circles."

Jasper’s mood improved after they went in circles.

Sotis, human emotions are wonderfully strange.

He extinguished the half-smoked cigarette in the ashtray, then stepped forward, pulling the petite figure into his arms.

The feeling of holding her completely was especially gratifying to Jasper.

The sudden hug left Nora startled.

She quickly responded, hugging him back, and said, "The sll of smoke is so strong."

Though her words expressed disdain, her tone carried delight.

"Nora."

"Hmm?"

Nora waited a long ti without another word, so she looked up, wanting to see Jasper’s expression.

As soon as her neck tilted up, her lips were sealed.

"Mmm..."

Jasper skillfully parted her lips and teeth, the scent of tobacco lingering between them.

The kiss lasted a long, long ti.

There were no further actions, just a lingering, passionate kiss.

Sothing within Nora, a certain "thing" she sensed had changed, was, at this mont, dissipated and scattered.
