Nora Northwood buried her face, pretending she hadn’t heard anything.

Jasper Sinclair could feel her long eyelashes gently brushing against the hollow of his neck.

It tickled.

The unspoken silence between them lasted for several minutes. Jasper broke the silence again, "Did I scare you?"

The person in his arms swallowed but dared not make a sound.

Jasper knew she was pretending to sleep; her eyelashes kept fluttering non-stop.

"I’m serious," he said.

Still, Nora ignored him.

Jasper felt he might have to use a different approach to make her respond.

Then, a slightly calloused hand slowly moved downward, finally stopping at Nora’s waist.

This was the most sensitive spot on Nora’s body, a ticklish place, and especially untouchable on her waist.

Jasper mischievously gave it a pinch.

A short, low sound imdiately escaped from Nora’s throat.

"Still pretending to sleep?"

Jasper’s warm breath sprayed onto Nora’s skin, leaving her nowhere to hide.

Nora adamantly denied, "You’re the one pretending to sleep!"

Jasper didn’t call her bluff, and his fingers continued to be restless.

Sohow, they slipped under her shirt hem.

By the ti Nora realized, there was already a hand on her chest, and she couldn’t push it away.

And so, the situation beca completely uncontrollable.

The ambiguous air filled every corner of the room.

Outside, rain and clouds intertwined, much like inside.

...

After the commotion, Nora was too exhausted to move, only wanting to close her eyes and sleep.

Jasper lifted her from the bed, carried her to the bathroom for a quick shower, patiently dried her off, and didn’t forget to change the wrinkled sheets for a new set.

Once everything was tidied up, Nora was already on the verge of sleep.

In a tone as if coaxing a child, Jasper whispered in her ear, "It’s easy to catch a cold on the sofa; I’ll carry you to bed."

He didn’t expect Nora to respond; he just picked her up and gently placed her back on the bed, handling her as if she were a priceless treasure.

Nora mumbled a few words. Jasper couldn’t make them out, nor did he dwell on them, assuming she was just sleep-talking.

The bedroom returned to quiet.

Jasper turned sideways, his elbow supporting his chin, watching Nora’s sleeping face.

His mood shifted once again.

Suddenly, he noticed Nora’s bare ring finger. When had she taken off their wedding ring?

This discovery wiped away his rare good mood.

He noted to himself to have Nora find their wedding ring.

His gaze fell on his own ring finger again; the ring had long been gone.

Jasper didn’t know where it went, but he suspected Peach Bell was involved.

However, given the current situation, he didn’t want any further entanglents with Peach Bell.

As a result, the issue of the wedding rings would have to be put aside for a while.

The rain outside grew heavier.

Listening to the rain, Jasper’s mind was flooded with mories from the past two months.

In truth, he was unhappy most of the ti.

Taking on high-intensity work, trying to nd his relationship with Nora, putting on a show in front of many employees, dealing with Peach’s troubles... any ordinary person would have been driven mad.

Fortunately, it was Jasper Sinclair.

Only Jasper Sinclair could handle it.
