Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk Chapter 444: Someone Is Pulling the Strings Behind the Scene
Jasper Sinclair gazed out the window, trying to discern the direction where Nora Northwood was — was it east or north?
Soon, the entirety of New York beca just a dot.
...
Nora Northwood returned ho half a month later, just two days before the Dragon Boat Festival, when every household was busy making rice dumplings.
On the way from the airport to downtown, she leaned against the window, eagerly sharing nearly a month’s worth of learning achievents with the VK crowd.
Adjusting to the ti difference, she took a day off for herself, as did Andrea Miller.
Jasper Sinclair knew her return date and had specially prepared a candlelit dinner at the villa, hoping to ease the long-frozen tension between them.
Classical Western music flowed gently from the vinyl record player, suppressing the cicadas singing outside the window.
Upon returning ho, Nora was t with this scene and, after a mont of surprise, quickly composed herself.
"Nora, welco ho." The man’s voice carried a hint of intentional tenderness.
"Did you set up the dining room?"
"I wanted to surprise you, hope you like it." As he spoke, Jasper Sinclair prepared to take credit.
"I like it very much, thank you."
Then, the two sat down; perhaps it had been too long since they last t, an awkward air arose.
Nora remained silent, stirring the spaghetti with tomato at sauce, swallowing quietly.
"How did this month’s study go?" The person across from her spoke again, trying hard to find a shared topic.
Nora put down her fork, responding, "I got so new creative inspiration, I might work on a PPT tonight for sharing."
After speaking, she took a bite of salad, and her long-empty stomach quieted down.
"Let’s talk later."
Hearing his words, Nora’s hand paused while cutting her steak, then quickly resud, "Okay."
She could probably guess that what they could talk about was nothing more than Peach Bell.
After receiving a definite reply, Jasper Sinclair felt the stone hanging over his heart finally settle, and truly imrsed himself in the al, savoring a piece of steak dipped in sauce.
The table was rather quiet; thankfully, the music prevented the dinner from becoming too awkward.
Slightly full, Nora put down her utensils, "I’m full, shall we talk? Here or sowhere else?"
Hearing this, the person across wiped his hands, "Let’s go to the study." The atmosphere here wasn’t suitable.
On the way to the study, Jasper Sinclair loosened his tie, feeling as though sothing was stuck in his throat.
"Bang——"
The door closed, and the large study instantly fell silent.
Jasper Sinclair tentatively took Nora Northwood’s hand; his palm was already sweaty, a sticky feeling.
The mont their skin touched, Nora wilted; she realized so issues couldn’t be avoided and ultimately had to face reality; she couldn’t hide in a New York academy forever.
At this mont, her heart was like a fawn running in every direction.
Sadness, confusion, irritation... or disappointnt? Ultimately, it was all negative impact.
"During the half month apart, I’ve thought about many things. Our marriage indeed showed cracks due to Peach Bell’s presence. That night, I didn’t think things through thoroughly; I always viewed the issues from my perspective and forgot there’s a difference between male and female thinking..."
Jasper Sinclair’s voice gradually soothed the agitation in her heart, replacing it with calmness.
She lowered her eyes, looking at their hands intertwined, feeling a sense of sothing long lost.
