The cotton swab soaked in disinfectant rubbed against her skin, and Nora couldn’t help but shiver, feeling goosebumps rise on her arm.

The next second, the sharp needle pierced her tender skin.

"Ouch... Jasper!"

"Alright, it’s done."

With the injection over, the doctor prescribed so cold dication and advised avoiding egg and fish for a while. By the ti everything was finished, it was nearly three in the morning.

Jasper Sinclair escorted the doctor out and returned to find Nora wrapped in the blanket again.

Compared to the earlier commotion, it was much quieter now, a stark contrast.

Listening to her even breathing, Jasper felt his heart slowly relax.

The hotel was very warm with the air conditioning, and the man felt a bit stifled, so he left the bedroom to sit in the living room for a while.

Jasper opened a small crack in the window; the air was cool, carrying the unique scent of the city and a bit of humidity.

Half an hour later, as Nora’s body temperature had completely normalized, he returned to bed and soon fell asleep.

...

At six o’clock, the sky was beginning to lighten.

Jasper’s biological clock went off at this mont. He got up decisively, but didn’t hurry to leave the bedroom, first gently pressing the back of his hand to Nora’s skin.

Once he was sure she didn’t have a recurring fever, the weight on his chest lifted.

Nora slept on her side, just as Jasper had said, that was her favorite sleeping position.

Her lips had regained a soft pink color, and her complexion looked rosier. Perhaps she was sleeping too deeply to realize the calloused hand that was gently stroking her cheek, cherishing her.

Jasper quietly left the bedroom, grood himself, and t with Louis Hayes in the hotel lobby.

The marble floor beneath their feet reflected light. At this hour, many people were out, everyone in business attire, but his tuxedo stood out with an unmatched quality.

"Boss, the car is already waiting."

Louis followed Jasper out of the revolving door, walking towards the red Ferrari with its door already open.

It was the second day of the energy policy eting, and his schedule was fully booked, with free ti only after eight in the evening.

Before starting work, he handed his phone to Louis, saying, "Keep an eye on her ssages."

Their chat remained at seven in the morning, with his ssage: "Let know when you’re awake."

Nora slept until noon, only waking when the sun was high in the sky.

She actually wanted to sleep a bit longer, but her stomach growled persistently.

The soreness throughout her body hadn’t completely dissipated, and she still couldn’t muster any strength. When she moved, a stinging pain shot through the left side of her hip.

Nora sat disheveled on the large bed, her posture not very graceful, staring blankly at the sheets for a few minutes before grabbing her phone from under the pillow and starting to reply to ssages one by one.

Pinned at the top was Jasper’s ssage, the most noticeable.

Nora tapped the keyboard a few tis with her fingertip, wrote and erased, then wrote again, repeatedly, before finally settling on a simple ssage: "I’m awake."

Less than a minute after sending the ssage, the hotel doorbell rang.

"Madam, lunch has been prepared for you." It was Bailey’s voice; she recognized it.

"Just a mont," Nora called out weakly in the direction of the door, unsure if the person outside heard her clearly.
