Nora Northwood closed her eyes as Jasper Sinclair’s knuckles gently tapped on her waist, now and then.

"Nora, you’ve had too much to drink."

Nora’s back was against the wall, the cold touch unconsciously making her lean toward the man’s chest.

Jasper noticed and switched their positions, seizing the opportunity to capture her lips.

His kiss was sowhat urgent, and Nora’s response made their breaths grow even more heated.

"Jasper, hold ," Nora murmured dizzyingly, lost in the kiss, unaware of the nonsense she was uttering.

In the end, her body went limp, hanging onto Jasper as they returned to the master bedroom.

The room was full of romance.

The setting sun outside cast a glow on Jasper’s profile, his nearly perfect features tense, deep pupils filled with the image of an eyes-closed Nora.

The floor was littered with their clothes.

Before long, Nora fell into a deep sleep.

When she awoke again, it was late at night. She opened her eyes, and the bedroom was pitch black.

Nora instinctively reached for the space beside her but found it empty.

"Jasper."

Silence answered her.

Nora stared at the ceiling and, after gathering her thoughts, stepped out of the bedroom.

From the kitchen ca the clattering sound, and she groped her way toward it.

Through a glass door, she saw Jasper wearing an apron, slicing tomatoes on the cutting board.

Nora rubbed her eyes, thinking she might still be dreaming.

It wasn’t until a tomato was diced up that she knew she wasn’t mistaken.

She stepped forward, pulling open the glass door in between.

Busy stir-frying the tomatoes, Jasper turned around at the sound, his dark eyes slightly raised, "You’re awake."

By now, the tomato’s sweet aroma had been released, making Nora swallow involuntarily, saying, "Slls so good."

"Wait at the dining table for ; I’ll be done soon."

Nora gave a sweet "Okay" in response.

She waited at the dining table, watching a busy Jasper, and the emptiness in her heart was refilled.

The next day.

The people at VK Studio were gathered around, all looking disgruntled.

"This issue began with , and I will handle it properly. I’m sorry for the trouble I’ve caused everyone." Nora frowned deeply, taking responsibility with just a few words.

"Don’t take the dia’s speculation to heart, Nora," Yvonne Winslow comforted her.

On the computer screen’s center was a long headline: VK’s leader, successful but neglecting their mother.

The comnts below were equally varied and unsparing. Yvonne’s comnt "No comnt without full knowledge" was far down the page.

As for the top hot comnt: "You know a person’s face but not their heart, apparent do-gooder and entrepreneurial facade deceives the public eye, while a suffering mother appears out of thin air—whether it’s a scripted setup or another angle, only VK knows."

This hot comnt had over 100,000 likes.

Nora scrolled through most of the comnts and finally let out a bitter smile, "I wish it were all a planned script."

If that were the case, perhaps she could have a happy family.

She had thought the matter would end there, but unexpectedly, Rachel Woodward got involved at this ti.

She made a post on Weibo, using the VK topic, quickly claiming a top-five spot on trending searches.

"I hope to receive an open and just apology from Miss Nora Northwood."

Attached were several images of her while hospitalized, her arm in a cast.
