Momo’s phone wasn’t really out of battery.
She just didn’t want to be in the living room downstairs being watched by all the elders.
So she excused herself upstairs to her room.
She threw herself onto her soft bed, grabbed a pillow to hug, then unlocked her phone and opened WeChat.
Staring at Ye Zhan’s name, Momo repeated it to herself twice, feeling that while the name was nice, the full name seemed not quite familiar enough.
She pursed her lips and chuckled privately for a few seconds, then started editing a message.
[Ye Zhan, I’ve arrived home.]
After clicking to send the message, Momo exited WeChat and sent a selfie photo over.
[You don’t have to reply to me; if you miss me, you can just look at the photo.]
Looking at the messages she sent, Momo felt a bit frustrated.
She thought she shouldn’t have sent so many messages to Ye Zhan; if he’s busy, it would definitely distract him.
Thinking of this, she cursed herself softly.
She was about to withdraw the last two messages and the photo when Ye Zhan’s video invitation popped up.
Momo’s hand trembled, nearly pressing the wrong button to hang up.
She chuckled lightly and answered.
In the video, Ye Zhan appeared impossibly handsome, his smiling eyes like the ocean full of stars, drawing people in deeply, pletely mesmerized.
Though they’d only been apart for a few hours.
But this look, Momo was still captivated.
She couldn’t bear to blink, her heart beating faster the moment she saw him.
From head to toe, every cell in her body lit up with joy.
"Momo."
The man’s rich voice drilled into her eardrums, but Momo just gazed at him, saying nothing.
Ye Zhan chuckled softly twice, looking at her with eyes full of tenderness and affection, then spoke again, his voice carrying a new husky tone, "Momo, do you miss me?"
"Yes."
Momo smiled.
Her heart brimming with sweetness and happiness.
She traced his handsome brows and eyes with her fingers across the screen, "It’s a pity I can’t touch you, Ye Zhan, do you miss me?"
"I miss you."
"Are you busy right now?"
Momo asked softly.
She feared disturbing him, disrupting his work.
Ye Zhan shook his head, his smile unchanged, but his eyes revealed a touch of tenderness, "Not busy, so I wanted to video call you."
"Since you’re not busy, let me look at you a few more minutes. Why do you have to be so handsome, making it impossible for me to take my eyes off you? You shouldn’t be so handsome in the future."
Saying this, Momo pouted, teasing Ye Zhan into a laugh.
"Don’t laugh."
Feeling Ye Zhan was teasing her, Momo’s cheeks flushed, suddenly she became serious and put on a stern face.
Ye Zhan’s heart softened, wanting to laugh but still acmodatingly restrained his amusement.
"Alright, I won’t laugh, you can look as long as you want."
"I’m leaving tonight at nine."
After the playful moment, Ye Zhan regained his smile and spoke gently.
The delicate atmosphere was instantly shattered by his words, the mood shifted abruptly.
Momo’s smile froze for a second.
Though her smile soon reappeared on her face.
But in Ye Zhan’s eyes, his heart tightened nonetheless.
"Momo, while I’m away, take care of yourself."
Seeing the emotions she tried hard to hide, his lips curved into a small smile as he tenderly reminded her.
Knowing her reluctance, he felt the same reluctance in his heart.
"I will. I took care of myself well before I knew you, so you don’t have to worry about me, and don’t be distracted by anything."
Momo raised her smile, her bright eyes shining upon him.
"Hmm."
Ye Zhan nodded, having so many things he wanted to say, but finally said nothing.
Just looked at her deeply.
"During this time I won’t text you; let’s get in touch when you have time."
"Didn’t you just say you’d often send me photos?"
"I was just talking nonsense; I have twenty-four hours a day, you’re different, from now on we’ll go by your schedule."
"Momo, will you feel wronged?"
Ye Zhan asked suddenly.
Momo was stunned by his question.
Understanding his meaning, she laughed and shook her head, "If I felt wronged, I wouldn’t have flown to Imperial City to find you, Ye Zhan, promise me, I’ll wait for you to e back."
At the end, Momo lowered her eyes.
Hiding the sadness and reluctance in her eyes.
She couldn’t help but worry.
"Okay."
Ye Zhan couldn’t stand seeing Momo sad.
When Momo raised her eyes again to meet Ye Zhan’s deep and determined gaze, she was smiling.
"Ye Zhan, go back to work. I won’t call you tonight."
"Hmm."
Momo gave him a tender smile, then hung up the video call.
