After a little commotion, the lady boss ca over with egg noodles and dumplings. Putting down the food, she smiled and asked, "Wan, is this your husband?"
Mi Wan sotis brought Xuanxuan here, but she had never co with Song Guotao. Firstly, because Guotao disliked these snacks, and secondly, because this place was where she and Ji Dongquan often ca, causing her feelings of discomfort. She never proactively ntioned this snack shop to Guotao, and even when Xuanxuan insisted on visiting, it was always Mi Jing accompanying them. The lady boss knew Mi Wan was married and had seen her daughter, but never her husband. Seeing Mi Wan sitting closely with Ji Dongquan now, she naturally assud he was her husband.
"Hello, lady boss, long ti no see." Ji Dongquan was in a good mood today and knew the lady boss well, even though she didn’t recognize him after so long. He greeted her warmly and confidently.
"You are...?"
Hearing Ji Dongquan say "long ti no see," the lady boss was puzzled, staring at him for a while before turning her gaze back to Wan. Suddenly, a realization hit her and she smiled more deeply, "You two got married? How co Wan never ntioned it?" She was quite surprised.
The lady boss had a deep impression of Ji Dongquan. Even though many years had passed, she still rembered so events clearly. Wan had gotten drunk here several tis, mostly with Ji Dongquan either drinking with her or taking her ho. The last ti she got drunk, Mi Jing had to co and take her ho.
When Mi Wan ntioned their breakup, the lady boss found it hard to believe, thinking they got along well. But after not seeing Ji Dongquan again and Wan rarely ntioning him, she gradually accepted it as true. Yet, she didn’t expect them to be married now.
Faced with the lady boss’s surprise, Wan remained calm, smiling slightly, with no intention of explaining.
Their relationship was too complex to explain in a few words. Even if it could be explained, she didn’t want to say much now. If the lady boss misunderstood, let her; after all, she was already divorced. No matter how close she was with Ji Dongquan now, it didn’t violate any moral ethics, so there was no need to be cautious.
"I’m busy with work, often abroad, and rarely have ti to be with her." Ji Dongquan seed to have prepared his answer, speaking without hesitation and even showing so guilt.
"Well, no matter how busy work is, you should spend more ti with Wan! No wonder Wan sotis looked sad when she ca here." The lady boss said.
"Yes, now I’m back in the country and will have much more ti to be with her."
While speaking, Ji Dongquan picked up a dumpling and placed it in Wan’s bowl. Watching their intimate interaction, the lady boss smiled contentedly and walked away, leaving them alone.
After the lady boss left, Wan spoke again, asking, "How’s the taste?"
"It’s good, pretty much the sa as before." Ji Dongquan answered while drinking the rich soup, which triggered his taste buds and appetite.
The broth for the egg noodles was slow-cooked with real bones, without any added sauces, making it sweet and bursting with at fragrance. Every ti they ca here, they had a bowl of these noodles, as it was hard to find such flavors elsewhere.
Seeing Ji Dongquan still enjoying the noodles as before, a pang of bitterness arose in Wan’s heart. She said, "The taste hasn’t changed, but we have."
Upon hearing her words, Ji Dongquan paused his movent and looked at her sowhat sad expression, smiling indifferently, "No matter how we change, our feelings remain unchanged."
Wan had heard many sweet words from him. He was not soone who lacked words; on the contrary, he was articulate and straightforward, always expressing his feelings. Like many won who enjoyed hearing such words, Wan felt joy and slight emotion upon hearing this, but after the joy ca so inevitable lancholy.
He had always been waiting for her, but she had already walked away.
Perhaps he truly didn’t mind, but she couldn’t help caring.
Following that was a long period of silence. After they finished eating, Ji Dongquan insisted on paying the bill.
"Didn’t we agree I’d treat you?" Wan looked up at Ji Dongquan once they stepped out of the shop.
"What’s mine is yours. We don’t distinguish between each other." Ji Dongquan took her hand and led her towards the car.
"Who doesn’t distinguish between each other with you?" Wan retorted.
"We’ve given ourselves to each other, so how can we be separated?" Ji Dongquan raised his eyebrows and asked confidently.
"You... shaless!"
Wan gritted her teeth but swallowed the last three words. Annoyed, she thought she wasn’t unable to argue but lacked his audacity.
Ring, ring——
Soon after they got into the car, Wan’s phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, it was Xuanxuan’s teacher, so Wan quickly answered, asking, "Teacher Liu, is sothing wrong with Xuanxuan?"
"Mom, it’s ."
"Xuanxuan?" Wan was surprised, as it was almost napti at kindergarten. How did Xuanxuan get the teacher’s phone to call her?
"Mom, you need to save dad. He was taken by bad people." Xuanxuan said urgently.
Guotao losing the lawsuit and Black Dragon coming after him wasn’t impossible, but how did Xuanxuan know about Guotao’s situation while at kindergarten?
"Xuanxuan, don’t worry. Tell mom, how do you know your dad was taken by bad people?" Wan asked softly.
"This morning, dad called Teacher Liu and asked Xuanxuan to listen to the call. He said if his phone isn’t reachable by noon, he must be taken by bad people."
Bastard!
Using Xuanxuan for his own escape?
Wan’s expression turned cold, but she suppressed her emotions so as not to worry her daughter, gently comforting, "Xuanxuan, don’t worry. Your dad will be fine. Mom will ask the police for help. You sleep well at nap ti, and after school, mom will get dad to call you, okay?"
"Okay."
"That’s it. After school, mom will pick you up."
"Okay, mom, goodbye."
