"Miss Mi."
"Miss Mi, wait..."
The three had just stepped onto the steps in front of the grand entrance when two calls followed from behind. Hearing the sound, the three turned their heads to see a man in a gray suit holding a brown envelope, striding toward them.
Mi Wan watched quietly as the man approached. She had seen him before; he was Chairman Ji’s subordinate, the one carrying bags of items behind them yesterday.
Suddenly, she recalled what Chairman Ji had said yesterday. He said she would definitely win. Had he found so kind of evidence?
"Is there sothing you need?" Mi Wan stood on the steps, slightly taller than the man, and with her calm deanor, her simple question radiated a subtle sense of authority.
"Yes." The man nodded, slightly out of breath, then looked up at Mi Wan and said, "Chairman Ji asked to give you these docunts."
"What docunts?" Mi Wan did not reach out her hand and instead looked at the brown envelope before her as she asked the man calmly.
"They are related to the case you’re handling." The man responded respectfully.
As expected, she had guessed right.
Mi Wan smiled and took the envelope, saying, "Thank you."
"You’re welco." The man replied with a sincere smile, "The three victims you visited previously are on their way here. Once they arrive, I will escort them inside and give you a call."
Upon hearing this, Li Bing and Li i exchanged glances. Compared to their earlier feigned calm, they now felt significantly relieved. Unconsciously, smiles of happiness appeared on their faces.
With witnesses, their chances of winning greatly increased, consequently reducing their pressure.
"Alright, I’ll wait for your call." Mi Wan smiled gracefully and charmingly. Looking a few ters away, she saw Song Guotao stepping out of a car. However, her good mood didn’t diminish even slightly because of his presence. She still smiled and asked the man, "May I ask your surna?"
Hearing Mi Wan’s question, the man imdiately stood straight, heels together and hands neatly by his sides, like a soldier reporting to his superior, his expression serious and voice clear, he said, "My surna is Yang. My full na is Yang Jie, and I’m the chairman’s personal bodyguard."
Seeing this, Mi Wan smiled again, thinking he was quite adorable.
"Yang, I’ll go in first. I’ll trouble you with the rest." Mi Wan said.
"Alright, take care." The man replied.
Then, Mi Wan and the Li sisters continued up the steps, entering the hall. Just as they stepped inside, another call echoed from behind.
"Wanwan."
It was Song Guotao’s voice. Mi Wan heard it clearly, but she pretended not to hear and continued walking towards the prepared waiting room.
"Wanwan."
Song Guotao was relentless, shouting again. But Mi Wan still didn’t look back. Li Bing and Li i, however, both glanced at him before returning their gaze and subtly observing Mi Wan. Seeing her composed expression, they wisely remained silent and followed her closely.
Being blatantly ignored, especially in front of his subordinates, Song Guotao felt a bit embarrassed. He coughed lightly, keeping his head slightly lowered, and said to his assistant, "Let’s go."
Song Guotao’s assistant knew Mi Wan. He glanced at her disappearing figure and quickly followed Song Guotao, inwardly thinking, what kind of judgnt does Song Guotao have, not cherishing such a perfect woman like Mi Wan and instead getting entangled with Chen Wenyu?
As a fellow man, the assistant couldn’t understand Song Guotao’s choices at all. Even a rabbit doesn’t eat the grass near its burrow, yet he, a married man, was having an affair with a colleague from the firm! It was truly eye-opening!
However, Mi Wan was unaware of the assistant’s thoughts. Leading Li Bing and Li i, she entered the waiting room. After a knock sounded, the doorknob turned, and a uniford woman entered.
"Wan."
"Huihui." Mi Wan stood up with a smile and said to the woman, "Thank you for your help."
"No problem at all, it’s just a small favor." Su Hui had worked at the court for many years and had occasionally interacted with Mi Wan when she was still in the workforce. Though they were not close friends, they were good work buddies. This waiting room was prepared by Su Hui ahead of ti for Mi Wan.
"Have so water." Su Hui handed water bottles to Mi Wan and her companions. After chatting for a while, she left to attend to her work.
The waiting room was simply furnished with a table, several chairs, and ample space, avoiding both clutter and emptiness.
Li Bing and Li i sat quietly opposite Mi Wan, not wanting to disturb her. They remained silent, staring at the table in a daze. Mi Wan focused entirely on the brown envelope and carefully opened it. After examining the docunts inside, her face lit up with joy.
These docunts ensured her victory in the case. Chairman Ji clearly understood the details well and had prepared the evidence thoroughly.
Taking out her phone, Mi Wan intended to send a thank-you text to Chairman Ji but noticed the unread ssage wasn’t from Song Guotao but a strange number.
"If you win the case, take out for lunch!"
Although brief, Mi Wan felt the authoritative tone, with no hint of politeness. The only person capable of such straightforwardness was Chairman Ji!
Thinking about the domineering man, Mi Wan couldn’t help but smile. She quickly replied to the ssage: "Alright! I’ll call you after the hearing."
Seeing Mi Wan’s elated expression, Li Bing got curious and asked, "Who’s the ssage from? You seem so happy."
"A man." Mi Wan replied without hesitation, smiling.
"Is it soone you like?" Li Bing teased.
"Yes..."
"Knock, knock..."
Mi Wan’s words were interrupted by knocking, followed by an official voice, "The court is about to start. Please proceed to the courtroom."
"Oh, understood. Thank you for the reminder."
Mi Wan raised her voice towards the door. Then she quickly returned to gather her docunts back into the brown envelope, stood up, and asked Li i, "i, are you ready?"
Li i responded with a soft but resolute smile and nodded firmly.
