217: Chapter 217: Improved Material 217: Chapter 217: Improved Material Once the old man left his spot, the angler to the right of Yue Feng finally whispered, “Brother, where are you from?
How did you end up arguing with Yu Dapao!”
Yue Feng, who was quite approachable in normal conversation, offered a wry smile and said, “Hi there, pal.
I’m from the City of W, first ti here!
What’s with ‘Yu Dapao’?
Is that his na?”
The angler beside him curled his lip, “Didn’t you see the little cart?
The old man’s nickna is Yu Dapao.
He’s famously ruthless at baiting.
Odd temper, keeps to himself, fishing skill isn’t much to speak of, but he’s got a huge addiction to it!
“I reckon he went to his car to get so secret weapon.
That he took a disadvantage from you is quite unusual!
Be careful, bro, old Yu is not an easy one to deal with!”
“Oh, is that so?
Thanks!” Yue Feng quickly expressed his gratitude.
It wasn’t long before the guy on his right proved to be right!
Yu Dapao ca back carrying a snake-skin feed bag half full of feed and wielding an extra-large baiting shovel.
Seeing this setup, Yue Feng’s heart skipped a beat.
He had seen people use buckets for baiting.
Today he also witnessed cart baiting, but using half a bag of fard fish pellets for fishing was sothing he had never seen before!
Beyond the pellets, the baiting shovel in the old man’s hand was surprisingly big too.
Comparing it to cars, if the baiting spoon in Yue Feng’s hand could be considered a tiny Alto, then this baiting shovel was like a large long-distance coach bus, at least three or four sizes bigger.
If that thing was opened up for baiting, a single scoop would be at least half a pound of bait!
Yu Dapao, shouldering the feed and shovel, returned to his spot and gave Yue Feng a provocative look, then started flinging the bait like a madman, just like ruining the family fortune!
Compared with Yu Dapao, Yue Feng’s extravagant spoon was practically akin to an ear pick; every shovel of feed he tossed was equivalent to half a day’s work for Yue Feng!!
“Damn!
Brother Feng has encountered a senior expert today!”
“Tsk tsk, lugging half a bag of fard fish pellets with his cart, who can compete with that!”
“Upstairs, you’ve forgotten about the pre-fishing baiting.
If I’m not mistaken, this old guy brought a whole bag of pellets, and what he’s using now is what’s left after baiting earlier!”
Yue Feng indeed found this behavior quite astonishing; it was simply too much!
One scoop was half a pound of bait, and in front of Yu Dapao’s spot, it seed like a feed rain was falling, pouring down rapidly.
In a short while, at least seven or eight pounds had gone in.
While scattering the pellets into his spot, Yu Dapao threw several provocative glances at Yue Feng, the aning clear, “Kid, when it cos to baiting, I haven’t lost to anyone!”
He may not have lost at baiting, but baiting was just a ans to an end—catching fish was the goal!
With Yu Dapao’s baiting thod, actually catching fish was not very effective.
Baiting with an extravagant spoon also required technique; it wasn’t about who had the most bait.
If fishing was about competing over who could put more bait in their spot, then everyone at the Big Fish Pit would be carrying a whole bag of feed.
But that’s not the reality, which says a lot!
The essence of baiting with an extravagant spoon lies in continuously adding bait to the water to lure fish, while ensuring the fish aren’t fully sated.
This will gradually drive them down to the bait at the bottom.
With Yu Dapao’s approach, a couple of fish might get full on just the pellets alone, making it incredibly difficult to find the baited hook among all the feed.
While not effective at catching fish, Yu Dapao’s actions did cause Yue Feng certain troubles.
If this continued, Yue Feng could hardly expect to fish well!
With that thought, Yue Feng furrowed his brows and pondered for a mont, then started to make adjustnts.
“Guys, I’ll adjust the bait a bit.
Chat on the public channel for a mont, I’ll be back in a minute at most!”
After giving a heads-up, Yue Feng stepped down from his fishing box and grabbed an empty Bait Opening Bowl, then poured so of the grain and corn mixture scooped up with the family-ruining spoon into the bowl.
Then, Yue Feng took a smaller bowl, scooped up so water casually, about 100ml or so.
Once that was done, Yue Feng added a bit of the liquid from the bottle of Big Fish Killer into the water and stirred it with his hand to mix it evenly with the clear water.
Encased in the bottle, the sll was potent, not to ntion even more so once poured out and diluted in the bowl.
In an instant, a sowhat pungent and herbal dicine scent perated around the fishing spot, drawing looks from anglers on both sides toward Yue Feng.
Yue Feng remained unfazed, pouring the diluted liquid over the bait grains and began to stir evenly.
Oddly enough, the scent was strong when first diluted, but after mixing with the bait, it softened after a short while, turning into a mix of a faint fishy scent from animal feed with a hint of herbal dicine.
The 100ml of water was enough to dilute the dicinal liquid, but it was far from enough to moisten the grains, so the bait just changed in weight and scent profile without affecting casting.
“You’re trying to play tough with ?
We may not match in quantity, but when it cos to bait quality, you’re streets behind no matter what!” Yue Feng thought to himself.
“I’m back!” Yue Feng returned to his fishing position and greeted everyone.
“What did you do, Feng?
That was quick!”
Yue Feng showed everyone the newly prepared grains: “Just adjusted the bait a bit.
Let’s try a few casts with the family-ruining spoon and see how it goes!”
After saying that, Yue Feng resud casting with about ten grains per throw.
Seeing Yue Feng resu casting, Yu Dapao’s spirits lifted again, and he too got serious, keeping up a steady rhythm of grain casting.
Not ten minutes passed, and a noticeable change occurred at Yue Feng’s baiting spot.
Near the central outer circle of the spot, fish stars began to erge!
The fish stars of big fish differed from those of dium and small fish — a big bubble followed by a string of smaller ones, clearly indicating the presence of fish, not simply the rise of natural gas from the bottom.
Yue Feng saw it, and so did Yu Dapao beside him.
The appearance of fish stars naturally indicated fish arrival, and both anglers’ nerves tightened.
In theory, if there were fish around the spot, then the bait on the hook should be extrely effective.
Seeing no bites, Yue Feng lifted his rod to check.
Upon examination, he realized that this bait had been used to catch three big fish without replacent; reluctant to change the bait, the hook’s bait had dwindled to a re core, its color turned to a waterlogged grayish white.
Yue Feng attached two new baits and cast them out towards the spot straight ahead.
No sooner had the float settled than there was a wildly exaggerated big signal; the float plunged down three to four divisions, then skewed off to the side, disappearing in the blink of an eye!
This action was even more violent than the interception after hooking the previous mid-water fish, giving Yue Feng an instant rush of adrenaline.
“Here it cos, pay attention!” Yue Feng called out, lifting the rod to set the hook!
Hooked!
A force many tis greater than any of the fish he had previously caught transmitted through the line and rod to Yue Feng’s hand.
