Chapter 976: Iron Wall Abaddon
“E-Excuse …”
Abaddon tipped down his sunglasses and leaned up from his chair.
Standing before him were this planet’s natural inhabitants—a pair of humanoid females with dastardly pale skin and tentacles instead of hair.
Their eyes were purely black, and their faces were close enough in likeness that they could have been sisters.
“Do you perhaps have a mate?”
“I don’t see one here with you. Are we free to take you as our own then?”
Abaddon turned to Darius and shot him the fiercest glare his face was capable of expressing.
Darius had a penchant for fiery won. It was one of the reasons he and Abaddon got along so well.
But while Abaddon didn’t do certain things and actions out of respect for his wives, Darius was a man well known to flirt with danger.
And since the beach they were on wasn’t exactly a private one, they were already beginning to attract a modicum of attention from the locals.
“…Please, leave alone before sothing unfortunate happens to you.”
Abaddon’s words were like dousing kerosene on an already roaring fla. Unfortunately for Abaddon, won on this planet see refusal as a challenge to overco.
“Aww, don’t be like that, handso foreigner. Allow to claim ownership of you…” One of the won reached for Abaddon.
The dragon didn’t move a muscle, as he contemplated a million different ways to handle this all at once.
However, before he could do anything, fate acted on it’s own.
‘Sothing’ flew off his body and took on a surprising and familiar shape.
Specifically, a large ghastly oni comprised of a vibrant purple energy.
It quickly grew larger than even Abaddon himself.
The won scread and tried to run away, but the oni imdiately grabbed them with both hands and tossed them back into it’s waiting mouth.
Even Abaddon’s jaw fell open at the sight.
The demon shrank back down into Abaddon’s shadow after eating the two won. It didn’t even leave so much as a burp in it’s wake.
Apophis was nearby chewing on a sandwhich and watched the entire thing go by without so much as a change in expression.
“Step-Mom left you a little present, huh? That’s sweet of her.” Apophis said through bites.
He held out his sandwich for his father to try, and Abaddon inspected it curiously.
“…Do I even want to know what is in that?”
“It’s ta, dude.” Apophis rolled his eyes. “Just peanut butter and bananas.”
Now, Abaddon actually looked interested.
“And bacon.” Apophis finished.
Just like that, Abaddon was no longer interested. “…No thank you, son.”
Apophis shrugged. “More for you then, little guy.”
At his feet, K’ael’s eyes sparkled as his brother started to bring the tasty morsel closer to his toothless mouth.
“Boy, what are you doing?” Abaddon stopped him.
“What?”
“You can’t feed your brother a damn peanut butter sandwich. He can’t digest that yet.”
Apophis looked down at his brother like that was news to him. “Why not? I see him eat bread all the ti.”
“It’s the peanut butter. It’s too rich for his stomach.”
Apophis still looked like he didn’t understand the jeopardy.
Abaddon was going to let him bite the bullet. “You know what? Feed it to him if you want. Just know that you’re on diaper duty.”
Only now did Apophs look like he was second-guessing his decision.
When Zheng wandered over, he asked him for a second opinion.
“H-Hey, babies can eat peanut butter, right?”
Zheng narrowed his eyes. “…Usually, yes, but your brother doesn’t do well with rich foods like that.”
“What?? Since when?!”
“Since forever. If you’re going to keep asking questions like this, you need to stop getting offended when no one wants to let you keep the kids without supervision.”
“Claire doesn’t have to be with every ti I want to hang out with one of the little ones!”
“”Yes she does!””
“Whatever!” Apophis leaned back in his chair and began eating his sandwich a bit more aggressively than before.
Ignoring him, Zheng claid a seat beside Abaddon. He had barely even gotten a word out before his father-in-law beat him to it.
“If you’re here to tell to make nice with that belligerent asshole, then I am terribly afraid I must ask you to save your breath.”
The edges of Zheng’s lips turned upward in a small smile. “You know, the fact that you already knew what I was coming to talk to you about would imply that you already aware that you’re not doing the right thing.”
Abaddon rolled his eyes as he reclined back into his seat. “What do I have to do to get so son-in-laws who are afraid of and do whatever I say without complaint?”
Zheng scoffed as if he weren’t even going to entertain that comnt. “Like that’s actually sothing you still want.”
“It’d be better than whatever that bastard is…”
Despite his best efforts, Zheng appeared to be no closer to getting Abaddon to warm up to Ziz than when he first started. It was like his father-in-law was erecting a firm wall he desired to keep the golden bird on the other side of.
“Gods, you are a real piece of work.”
Abaddon opened his eyes to find Shin looming over him with a disproving light in his eyes.
“Your chro is blocking my sun.”
“Save the jabs, dragon. Do you think I liked it when my son started dating your daughter? You didn’t see complaining about it, did you?”
Abaddon’s brow furrowed. “Actually, you-”
“But see, I got over it. I understood that letting your children make their own decisions is a part of life. Can’t do much more than just smile and hope everything goes well.”
“And if my daughter was a smart-mouthed, egotistical prick with a level of arrogance pulled straight from the pages of a murim world, then would you have still been able to smile andshut up?”
“…”
“…”
“…I’m going to go and get a drink now.”
“You do that.”
Darius was swiveling back and forth between working on the grill, checking out the ladies on the beach, and manning the bar.
With everything he had on his plate already, Shin was surprised to find Darius distracted by his watch of all things.
“Got anything with less burn than that fire water we drank before we got here?” Shin finally asked.
Darius held up one finger as he kept his gaze on his watch.
“Yep, give just one second there, tin man… Should be here in 3… 2… and..”
“WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT!?”
“IT’S A MONSTER!”
“RUN!”
The beach beca filled with the screams of panicked locals as they darted from the waters back to the mainland.
Needless to say, the visitors from Tehom were the only ones who remained in place- more confused than frightened.
High in the sky, beyond the atmosphere, one could see the beginnings of an impossibly large creature.
It looked like a blue whale with an entire galaxy for an underbelly. It’s eyes were as big as suns, and it’s mouth could fit an entire planet inside and still have room for a couple more.
“Right on ti!” Darius exclaid happily.
“You knew about this?” Mateo asked accusatorially.
“Yup! Prince Edgelord helped out!”
Unanimously, everyone on the beach turned to stare at Bashnega, who was busy playing in the sand with his nephews.
Bashenga didn’t even bother looking up from his sand castle. “…He asked what worlds were soon to et their end. I did not see the harm in answering him at the ti.”
Abaddon was developing another headache.
“Ummm… sorry, but I’m a little confused.” Courtney tried to raise her hand but ended up just lifting her sword instead. “What’s that big thing in the sky, and what’s all this about the world ending?”
Darius grinned widely. “I am so glad you asked, buttercup!”
He pointed at the creature. “That there is a multiversal traveling creature called a Kun Peng. They eat planets!”
Slowly, he brought his calloused finger over to point in Courtney’s direction.
“And you are going to fight it, little missy!”
