Clayton waited with bated breath for a heaven-defying scene.
Perhaps a colossal rift would tear itself open in the fabric of the world- running from the clouds to the mountain peak.
As scary as it might've been, Clayton thought he would be just the thing he needed to sohow validate all of his years of believing.
However, Clay and the others didn't get anything like that.
Instead, all that they heard was the sound of a dog barking at them from behind.
Everyone at the mountain peak turned around at once.
They nearly jumped out of their skin when they saw an entire group appear from out of thin air.
The group was comprised mostly of won, with one man standing at least a head taller than the rest of his acquaintances.
Sitting at their feet was the single largest Rottweiler any of them had ever laid eyes on. A clear prize winner by any identifiable tric.
"Y-You are…"
Clayton dragged his feet unknowingly as he attempted to push through the crowd to speak first. "Are you... the one we have been waiting for?"
Another bolt of red lightning flashed behind the group as an answer.
'...Laying it on a little thick, aren't you, Bekka?'
'You think so? We literally never get to do stuff like this.'
Abaddon just sighed and tipped down his glasses.
When Clayton locked eyes with the glowing reptilian eyes staring back at him, he instantly knew the answer to his question.
"Lord almighty..."
Clayton and all of the other humans dropped down to their knees along the rocky mountain path.
Well, all except one, that is.
"Isaac! Get on your knees, boy!"
One young man remained obstinate as he stood upright with his arms folded.
The way he looked Abaddon up and down with a scrutinizing gaze made it clear of his internal skepticism.
Put simply, this wasn't what he was expecting when he learned they would be summoning a god today.
The way the being was dressed made him stand out like a sore thumb.
Neatly dressed in black slacks and a collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up to reveal his tattooed forearms.
Both of his hands were adorned with shining wedding rings. Around his neck, there was a golden necklace with two more looped around the chain.
At the sight of them, the young man narrowed his eyes and drew a handgun from his side, and pointed it at the outsider.
"Isaac!"
"What the fuck are you doing, boy!? Stop!"
"Please, lord, take the wheel..."
Isaac jerked away from the elders trying to take his gun away from him.
"All of y'all get up, this a trick! The texts say our lord wears eleven rings, not twelve! Besides, he supposedly hasn't been to Earth in a while! But he's dressed like a middle-aged dad at a soccer et!"
'Track, actually...' Abaddon wanted to say.
Now, everyone had paused to take a second glance at Abaddon. There was indeed a second ring hanging from around his neck.
Now that he had taken everyone's focus off of him, Isaac was free to keep calling out the 'delusion'.
"Y-Yea and they never ntioned him showing up with no dog either! Be honest- you a vamp, ain't you?? Or are you the one who's been hunting us?!"
The slight smirk of amusent on the man's face seed to be all Isaac needed to pull the trigger.
As a shot rang out, those nearby winced instantly.
After a few seconds, they looked for the source of the damage but found nothing. The man, whoever he was, still stood perfectly unhard with a slight smirk on his face.
The won around him had started to giggle as well, leaving Isaac slightly confused.
"Isaac. Boy, fix your face." Clay snapped.
"H-uh..? I.." Isaac brought a hand to his nostrils and almost gasped.
Hanging from his nose piercing was the bullet he had shot no more than a few seconds ago. Still warm to the touch and slling lightly of gunpowder.
"You just..." He stared at the man in surprise.
Underneath the heat of everyone's shocked gazes, the man sighed as he reached behind his back and untucked his shirt.
Shocked gasps erupted from the crowd as a giant tail sprouted from behind his back.
It was a large, powerful thing with gleaming black scales and a pointed blade as it's tip.
The last ti that anyone had checked, vampires most certainly didn't have those...
"Sufficiently convinced..?" Sparks of fla wafted past Abaddon's lips and two rows of sharp teeth were briefly revealed.
The humans, all of them this ti, dropped to their knees in unison.
Clayton was a little bit slower in doing so, but only because he was too busy stargazing to rember his mannerisms at first.
"I-I knew that it was you, my god. Never doubted you for a second!"
Abaddon's lips finally started to curl into a small smile.
"...I wish I had your level of faith when I was mortal, Clayton. Perhaps things might've been easier for if I had."
The old man smiled widely and revealed a few missing teeth. "Faith is always rewarded in monts like this, my lord. Though I would wager that there weren't many gods worthy of your worship."
Abaddon squeezed Bekka and Audrina's hands and wrapped his tail around Seras.
"...There were a very small few." said Abaddon.
The girls blushed slightly and lowered their heads. They watched Abaddon closely while he was on earth, even if he did not know it.
His commitnt to them, even as an amnesiac human, was the single largest reason why he couldn't worship another deity. And why he never fell in love with a human woman or took a wife- despite mounting pressure from so elders of the tribe.
Clayton noticed the way that Abaddon was naturally gravitating towards the won around him.
Instantly, he harbored more than a few guesses about their identities.
"Let introduce you all plainly so that there can be no mistake." Abaddon began.
His followers listened with bated breath as he spoke. Through no fault of his own, any information that they could have possibly learned about the wives was either common knowledge or whispering from the supernatural community.
"And this…" Abaddon reached to the very back of the group and pulled a woman to the front who was clearly the most diminutive of them all.
She seed to be quite the shy thing as she waived then and showed a wry smile.
"This is my love Izanami. We've only recently gotten married."
Abaddon reached inside of his shirt and took out the necklace with the two rings. "Everyone's on the sa page now?"
Several faces almost lost all of their color.
They turned to the young man among them and glared at him with hateful eyes that he just decided to ignore.
All except for Clayton, who was currently suppressing the urge to hit Issac with a walking stick.
Clayton couldn't even look at him or else he was certain his resolve would snap in two.
"And the little one..?" He pointed to the dog.
"Bagheera." Abaddon answered.
The dog nodded its head and made a few of the younger generation smile back at him.
"You certainly co with quite the cavalry, my lord." Clayton said, impressed and a little touched. "All of this for us is just… I have no words." He sighed.
Smiling wryly, Abaddon decided to co a bit clean here. "If the one hunting you all is who we suspect it to be, then these bodies are a necessity.
Clayton and the others seed like they weren't sure exactly how many questions they were allowed to ask, so they elected not to ask any at the risk of ruining his mood.
"Ah. And there are two more joining us now." Abaddon suddenly looked up.
The humans saw two more individuals drop out of the sky.
Both of them were dark-skinned won, one had a short red wolf cut while the other had beautiful locks of long silver hair.
They would have been perfectly indistinguishable from humans if it were not for the black horns curling out of her forehead.
"A-And these are..?" Clayton asked.
Abaddon smiled. *In Xhosa* "My sisters."
The clan was perhaps even more elated to see these two than they were to lay eyes on the duo than they were his wives.
Unlike the won he married, his sisters actually had legends and records that were passed down on earth. The stories of their battles alongside their brother were legendary.
Malenia suddenly stepped forward.
Her eyes were closed tight, but Clayton could literally feel her looking at him.
It was odd, however it was not unpleasant.
"Human. What is your na..?" She asked in a low voice.
Clayton was briefly left stunned. He'd never heard a voice this beautiful before, and its effect on his soul was sothing that could not be overstated.
"…They call Clay, ma'am. And I must say it is my honor to et you." He bowed.
Malenia smiled bitterly. A single tear ran from her eyes as she devolved into a peal of shallow laughter.
"I am at the age where I thought myself immune to surprises… but you really do look so much like her."
