Surveillance?
Lu Jing found it sowhat incredible, who would track him for no reason?
"Do you know who it is?" he asked.
On hearing this, both shook their heads:
"Sorry, Young Madam, the person ran away."
Both of them were in the car at the ti, and the other party was not foolish.
Upon realizing soone was following, they imdiately ran away.
They even chased through several small alleys.
Fortunately, Lu Jing didn’t plan to pursue it:
"Let it be for now, inform if there’s anything."
"Yes, Young Madam."
Actually, by behaving this way, they inevitably alerted the stalker, who would probably not naively track them again.
...
The whole affair ruined his al.
When Lu Jing was about to pay the bill, he was told that his male companion had already paid.
This made him feel quite embarrassed.
When the man ca out of the restroom, Lu Jing cleared his throat and then slowly said,
"Senior, weren’t I supposed to treat you to the al?"
Pfft!
The man laughed, even making a sound.
"Silly girl, next ti then, next ti you can treat your senior."
For a slightly more normal man, when going out, allowing a girl to pay was degrading!
And tasteless!
Such people were definitely not worth befriending.
What else could Lu Jing say?
"You can’t secretly pay first next ti!"
"Alright alright, as the junior says. Shall I drop you off at the hospital now?"
With only about fifteen minutes left until his shift, there could be no further delay.
Therefore, Lu Jing didn’t insist:
"Thank you, senior."
"Why so formal?"
On the way, a black Volkswagen followed behind as calmly as it had on the way there.
Lu Jing felt very uneasy, and his mind was in turmoil.
After all, who wouldn’t be worried and nervous in this situation?
Who knew who was behind it?
And what did they want?
This feeling was like a knife hanging over his head, not knowing when it would fall.
In the driver’s seat, the man of course noticed the worry on Lu Jing’s face.
"Still worried?" he asked.
"Sort of."
"Should I have your boyfriend pick you up from work?"
Lu Jing shook his head repeatedly:
"No, no need, it’s not that complicated, and besides, he doesn’t have the ti."
The man raised his eyebrows twice:
"Oh, what does he do?"
"He’s a firefighter, at the brigade right across from our hospital.
I’m living there now, so commuting shouldn’t be a problem."
With that, the man didn’t say much more.
A few minutes later, the car stopped at the hospital entrance:
"Junior, we’re here."
"Thanks, senior, aren’t you coming in?"
"I’ve got so things to take care of."
Lu Jing nodded then shut the car door.
"Well then, goodbye."
"Alright."
Lu Jing watched the car drive away and rge into traffic before turning to enter the hospital.
...
At this mont, on a mountain elsewhere,
the number of firefighters from various units totaled in the thousands.
Helicopters hovered overhead, constantly dropping water, while ground personnel cleared paths through the brush.
That annoying sound began again:
"Ten minutes left. If we don’t capture G20 high ground, everyone fails the quarterly assessnt!"
G20 high ground wasn’t too far yet not too close, but even from a distance, the heatwave from the opposite side could be felt.
Simulating a forest fire rescue was obviously going to entail so real fires.
Of course, a firebreak had been dug in advance.
That fire could only spread so far, confined to one place.
