Ten minutes later...

"Are you sure we only talked about this?"

"Captain Jiang, I swear!" He was so anxious he even raised both hands.

Jiang Ye’s gaze darkened slightly, yet the corners of his mouth faintly curved upward:

"Don’t talk to her about these things anymore," he admonished.

Clearly, he didn’t want to cause anyone worry!

Lai Xingchen nodded vigorously, like a pecking chicken:

"Got it, Captain Jiang."

An hour passed...

Two hours passed...

Three hours passed...

The IV fluid had actually been completed over an hour ago, and the man’s patience was gradually wearing thin.

With a dark face, he rose from the hospital bed and left the room.

Upon exiting, he first went to the doctors’ office, standing at the door he could tell at a glance that no one was there.

Then he turned toward the nurses’ station:

"Hello, I would like to ask where Doctor Lu is?"

The nurse looked up:

"Ah? Doctor Lu? Still in the operating room, I guess!

Why are you looking for Doctor Lu? Isn’t Dr. Yu your attending physician?"

ntioning this, Jiang Ye felt very displeased inside.

And utterly helpless, because that woman had no intention of taking care of him as a patient!

Pfft, it must be said, Captain Jiang was quite self-aware.

"Just asking, when will Doctor Lu be out?" he asked again.

The Little Nurse shook her head:

"We’re not clear on that, it depends on the specifics of the surgery."

Jiang Ye nodded:

"Thank you."

And then he left.

...

Lu Jing had been in the operating room since morning, and hadn’t co out even by noon.

It wasn’t until the afternoon that this surgery finally concluded.

The patient had accidentally fallen from a building over ten stories high, suffering comminuted fractures all over, a ruptured liver and gallbladder, a fractured skull, among various other major and minor injuries.

Inside the operating room, one could say doctors from several of the hospital’s ace departnts were gathered for a full consultation.

However, during the operation, the patient still went into shock several tis.

That’s why it took so long.

It was a nearly ten-hour long major surgery!

Everyone was nearly exhausted, their arms as weak as noodles.

By the ti they changed out of their surgical clothes and walked out of the operating room, it was already past off-duty hours.

"Doctor Lu, let’s go get so duck soup stew!"

"I’m too tired, don’t want to go."

"Co on, it’s not far, just outside the hospital."

Lu Jing, who had only recently arrived at the departnt, found it hard to refuse again:

"Alright then."

At this mont, elsewhere.

Jiang Ye, who had waited until noon in the hospital before returning to the base, as a captain, was never truly idle.

Even if injured, there were still very, very many things to deal with.

’Bang!’

The office door was knocked open again:

"Captain Jiang, that uh..."

Behind the desk, the man paused in signing with this pen and looked up with a glance:

"You better have a reason!"

Sss~

The cor quickly said:

"I do, a real reason, Captain Jiang, she’s here!"

Hm?

"Who?"

"Who else? Captain Xing’s daughter, she’s already at the door, we can’t stop her!"

Jiang Ye imdiately gritted his teeth:

"Why did she co?" he asked.

The cor’s gaze straightforwardly shot towards the man behind the desk, the implication was obvious: for you, of course!

Nanxi City Fire Brigade’s belle, Jiang Ye, Captain Jiang!

No one else had such an honor!

Jiang Ye, frowning, then stood up quickly and tidied up the things in front of his desk:

"I’m going out, call if there’s anything."

"Sure, you be quick. We can’t hold back that little princess downstairs."

There really were not many people in the world who Jiang Ye would so urgently avoid, so few they could be counted on one hand.

Xing Sike was certainly one of them.

Jiang Ye didn’t even leave through the main door, instead, he jumped out the window with one hand and ran off.
