"I can. I’ve already spoken to the director about taking my last shift then."
"And are you coming back on the 1st or are you coming back on the 30th?"
Lu Jing suddenly beca pensive, and when he spoke again, his voice had dropped a few notches:
"The 1st, I guess."
Who set the court date for the 30th anyway?
Thinking about it, it doesn’t seem like much ti has passed, just a little over a week.
Ti really flies.
In the blink of an eye, nearly two months have passed.
...
After dinner, Bai Luo took her son out for a walk:
"Girl, rember to call if you need anything!" she reminded her.
Lu Jing laughed:
"I know, sis-in-law. How co you and my brother are getting more and more alike? You never forget to nag about this."
Couples tend to resemble each other, right?
"Speaking of your brother, I heard Lao Si is here too. Do you guys keep in touch?"
Umm...
Lu Jing silently gulped, then slowly replied:
"Not really."
At this mont, Bai Luo didn’t seem to react differently.
But Little Yizhou in Bai Luo’s arms widened his eyes significantly, looking at his aunt as if to say: Auntie, you’re lying, you’re deceiving!
Seeing this, Lu Jing quickly reached out to ruffle the little one’s hair, then cracked a few smiles at him.
The little guy seed to understand sothing and, after all, didn’t make a sound.
Yikes!
This lunch today had my heart bungee jumping the whole ti!
"Sis-in-law, did you ask him because there is sothing on your mind?"
Bai Luo pursed her lips:
"A friend of mine wants to collaborate with the Jiang Family, but..."
"No go-between?"
"Yeah, as you know, it wouldn’t be right for to approach your brother or the Jiang Family about this, so I thought maybe I could just go directly to Lao Si."
After all, out of the whole Jiang Family, she was really only sowhat familiar with Lao Si.
"Sis-in-law, how about you give your friend’s contact information? I have Lao Si’s contact. I’ll send it to him and ask."
Bai Luo agreed:
"Okay, I’ll send it to you right away."
After getting the information, Lu Jing hailed a taxi and rushed back to the hospital.
Not until the afternoon was over.
Returning to the fire brigade, he saw soone conducting training with the team mbers.
He didn’t approach them but went straight to the family building.
Today he finished work a bit early and had nothing else to do, so he decided to make so dinner.
He opened the refrigerator and saw cucumbers, potatoes, beef brisket, and pea shoots.
That would do!
One smashed cucumber, one potato and beef stew, and a pea shoot and sliced at soup.
After planning the al, he got straight to work.
...
At about six-thirty in the evening, Jiang Ye ca ho.
As he opened the door, he was greeted by a wafting aroma:
"What delicious food are you making?" he asked.
Lu Jing poked his head out from the kitchen:
"You’re back?"
Jiang Ye humd a response, changed his shoes, and then went to the bathroom to wash his face before entering the kitchen.
He could imdiately see what had been cooked.
"Why did you think of rewarding today?" he asked.
Tsk.
"What do you an by ’today’?"
I wasn’t free before, okay?
Pfft.
"Alright, alright. Do you need any help?"
"No need. Dinner will be ready in ten minutes; you go out first."
The kitchen was narrow and hot, and having two people in there was just inconvenient.
"Okay, call if you need anything."
After leaving the kitchen, Jiang Ye went to the study.
The never-ending work needed to be finished quickly so he could spend so ti with his wife after dinner.
...
As soon as the ten minutes were up, Lu Jing called out right on ti:
"Dinner’s ready!"
