"Lao Si, Lao Si?"

After several calls, the person in question finally reacted and lifted his head:

"What's wrong?"

"Are you feeling unwell? Or what?"

Otherwise, why would he seem so off?

Jiang Ye's throat moved slightly, and he lowered his gaze, a shiver running through his eyes:

"I'm fine!"

With that, he picked up the wine glass at his hand and downed another mouthful.

This...

The few people present exchanged knowing looks, all thinking the sa thing: Is this what he calls 'fine'?

The man's presence radiated a chill, deterring those who wanted to approach him to network.

This Crown Prince was not soone anyone could afford to offend!

Jiang Ye's glass was empty once more, half of his face obscured in shadow.

At this ti, Lu Yan and his spouse went onstage to give a speech, one holding their eldest son, the other cradling their hundred-day-old younger son.

The family of four made their official public debut—handso man, beautiful woman, a scene right out of a fairy tale.

Lu Jing stood beside the stage, her heart tumultuous, quite discomposed.

Lu's mother promptly noticed her daughter's abnormal behavior:

"What's wrong? Are you tired from the flight?"

"No, Mom, I'm fine."

"You say you're fine, but your complexion is much paler than before. Go over there and sit down for a rest."

"I really am fine..."

"Go!"

Lu Jing wanted to refuse, especially since the seat for the guests of honor was right next to that certain person's table.

But being pushed by her mother, she accidentally locked eyes again with that man.

His gaze was like a steel awl, piercing to the core.

Lu Jing's face showed traces of losing control; she even held her breath, frozen in place, while the man not far away was smiling, but his smile contained no warmth— it was terrifyingly cold.

Suddenly, Old Five beside Jiang Ye stood up and waved frantically at Lu Jing:

"Jing, Jing, co sit over here. We have a seat!"

Sheesh!

Lu Jing choked back a gasp.

As for the Crown Prince, for once, he failed to manage his expression.

Finally, her mother urged again:

"Go on, it's been a few years since you saw them. Weren't you all quite close when you were younger?"

Cough, cough.

Out of options, Lu Jing, no matter how reluctant, had to steel herself and move step by step towards the seat, where she ended up sitting directly opposite that person. Ignoring him was difficult.

Just as Lu Jing sat on pins and needles, Old Five began to blab again:

"Jing, you haven't forgotten about us from staying abroad so long, have you?"

Sweat...

"No, Brother He Ming."

Old Five seed pleased at once, chuckling with satisfaction.

Then Pei San joined in with a tease:

"So you rember He Ming, what about us?"

"Brother Zhou Er, Brother Pei San," she called obediently.

Then, that was it.

Old Five reacted a beat too slow:

"Eh, Jing, you've got Lao Si here too."

The atmosphere instantly turned weird, as if the air had solidified.

The man across was lounging in his chair, legs crossed, his face wearing an ambiguous smile, his eyes aningfully fixed on this side.

Lu Jing, though her gaze was lowered, perceived everything clearly, and her lips moved uncontrollably.

Zhou Er and Pei San were not as naive as Old Five and had pretty much figured out sothing.

In that case, Lao Si's sudden odd behavior earlier made sense.

Just then, the straightforward Old Five shockingly uttered:

"Jing, are you particularly afraid of Lao Si? Relax, he always looks like soone owes him money and won't pay back, right?"
